Finnish Karaoke!
This bar is named after the Tolstoy…read morecharacter, Anna Karenina. It's a small karaoke bar in the Kamppi Design District of Helsinki. There's not much room in here, it's a narrow, long bar.
The service isn't too hot here- the staff seems terribly overworked. The bartender is responsible for pouring drinks, and running the karaoke machine at the same time. She tried to pour as many drinks as she could, then had to stop and dig through the box to find out who's next to sing, find their song, announce the singer, the song, hit play on the computer, and then go back to pouring drinks and cashing people out.
The bar had a pretty good sized beer and liquor selection, with a lot of people opting for wine. I got the beer- they have a machine that pours the perfect pint! Yay! I didn't stick around long since there was no place to sit, and it took so long to get a beer.
I cracked up over the song choices- they sang La Bamba, followed by a bunch of Finnish songs about hockey that I didn't understand. These singing Finns shouldn't quit their day jobs.
They offer a slot machine in the back of the bar, which didn't seem to be getting much action. The restrooms are cramped, but clean. Parking is all on the street in front of this place. Fortunately, this place stays open late, and was packed when I went.
