We realized what that was. Wolgamuth Church Of The Brethren may not be the biggest church but they love each other like family. And that's exactly what we had been missing. Jesus says that the church is his mother and his brothers. And we have found our mother and our brothers. Wolgamuth Church Of The Brethren is now our family.

When living in Myerstown PA my family and I were parishoners of the parish for twelve years until we moved to South Carolina, but we recently visited Myerstown and decided to partake in their 9:00 am Sunday Mass. We were not disappointed at all. Mary Gate of Heaven offers two weekend masses, one on Saturday at 4pm and 9am on Sunday. If you are concerned about parking, do not fear. The church has a large parking lot that offers an array of handicapped spots. The church may be small, but it is surely mighty. The parish is welcoming and kind to all. In addition to being close knit-everyone knows each other. Once entering the church you will see a little chapel to the right side that anyone can pray. In addition after entering, to the left are the bathrooms that were spotless without any dust on the floors or counter. Once you step inside the church you will be wowed with the grand altar and beautiful stained glass windows that line the framing of the walls. I would say the church is medium size with plenty of pews for people to sit at, but if attending a holiday mass be prepared to come a little bit earlier to ensure a seat. Also do not be surprised to hear the rosary being said before the 9 am mass on Sunday, the parishioners led in saying it. The service is an hour long and Father David Hereshko made mass more interesting than the average priest. The way he talked to the parish during the homily made you invested in his preaching. In addition, Deacon Dave Barto is very kind and friendly to all. If you have little ones don't worry about them making noise during mass. There is a cry room where you and your children can follow along with the mass. Furthermore Mary Gate of Heaven offers CCD-Confraternity-classes from kindergarten to twelfth grade. This is where children can learn about the church and create a connection with God and also obtain some of their seven sacraments. CCD classes are once a week on Sunday. If you want to become involved with the parish there are many opportunities like an altar server (for children), reader, Knights of Columbus, CCD teacher, or work in the parish office. Also the parish gives back to the parishioners with family picnics, activities during the holiday season, Summer fest, and a Fall fest. If you are looking for a Catholic church to attend or are in the area you should definitely stop by Mary Gate of Heaven. The next time I am up in the Myerstown area, I will definitely be attending mass at Mary Gate of Heaven.
