I informed I cannot get a refund its final sale so they honored that which is great.. I was having a positive experience until they walked us in one of the rooms. Dog hair EVERYWHERE.. I said fine.. the Dr and the front desk are bickering back and forth over the Groupon. Now it's time for the check up.. no check up was done... The Dr seemed scared to even touch the kitten. Mind you the kitten is precious quiet just laying there. The Dr was more scared. He didn't check the ears, check temperature, check the tummy barely checked if it was a boy or girl so I'm hoping it's actually a girl... time for the shot the Dr and "assistant" (front desk) proceeds to cover my cats head with a towel and injects the baby with such aggression the cat squirms away off the table peeing herself and the Dr is holding the leash literally while my cat is dangling off the table by its collar and proceeds to say my cat is vicious.. I would be viscous to by the way he was handling the kitten.. horrible experience I was so happy to get my kitten out of there and leave .. now I will have to go and pay more $ for a proper vet appointment... I'm not one to write bad reviews but please do not bring your cat here..

I had moved to St Augustine but would drive 5 hours each was to bring my girl to him. I absolutely adore his staff and always have. When Mrs. Stone was on the front desk she was the rock that the storm broke upon. Dr Stone and Mrs. Stone have been like members of our family as have their staff. You just can't help but love them. It's an older facility, true but that should tell you quite a bit as they've been there a very long time. We have been going to them for 30 years with all our fur babies. From the very beginning, the team at Extra Care was incredibly kind, patient, and compassionate as they helped us understand and navigate our options. We ultimately decided to move forward with amputation. It was a frightening and unfamiliar journey, but one we knew we had to take for Chloe. Less than a week after her diagnosis, she underwent surgery and recovered quickly. Throughout that time, the hospital took wonderful care of her and helped us adjust to our new normal. Most importantly, Chloe was happy and no longer in pain, and for that we were truly grateful. She went on to live two more wonderful years. Although the cancer eventually returned, even after amputation and chemotherapy, we would not trade those two years for anything. We would make the same decision again without hesitation, especially now that we know how much love, support, and hope this process can bring. We are so thankful for Dr. T and her staff at Extra Care. They were there for us through every high and low, and they made an incredibly difficult experience feel a little less overwhelming. During that time, she repeatedly asked when the doctor would be available and was continually told that other emergencies had come in and that the doctor would be "right with her." I completely understand that emergency clinics can become overwhelmed and that critical cases may arrive unexpectedly. What was frustrating and heartbreaking was the lack of honesty and communication about the actual wait time. Had they been upfront and told my mom the doctor would likely be delayed for a significant amount of time, she could have immediately taken our dog elsewhere for treatment. What made the experience even more upsetting was that while my mom was still waiting -- without anyone having assessed or treated our dog yet -- the receptionist approached her to send someone to discuss payment options. It felt incredibly insensitive given the seriousness of the situation and the fact that our dog still had not been seen by a doctor. After waiting over an hour, our sweet girl Luna had declined even further and was no longer able to walk. My mom made the difficult decision to leave and drive 20 minutes to another emergency hospital. The moment she arrived there, multiple staff members rushed to help her and informed us that Luna was already in critical condition. She was diagnosed with sepsis and pancreatitis. Sadly, despite their efforts, she passed away later that night. I understand that veterinary staff work under immense pressure and that emergencies can happen at any time. But honest communication and urgency matter in life-or-death situations. I truly wish this clinic had been transparent about the wait so Luna could have received the care she needed sooner.

From the moment I called, the front desk staff member with gray, curly/wiry hair and glasses answered the phone with an audible sigh. I initially assumed she was having a difficult day, but while sitting in the lobby I heard her answer multiple calls the same way. It set an unfortunate tone. Our appointment was scheduled for 2:45 p.m. This practice has clients wait in their vehicles until called inside. We weren't invited in until 3:00 p.m., and by 3:15 p.m. our pet hadn't even been weighed. Another client in the waiting room told us she was still waiting for her 2:15 appointment as well. I approached the front desk because I'm a doctoral student and had class obligations later in the day. I simply asked for an update so I could decide whether I needed to reschedule. Instead of receiving an estimate or an apology, I was told in a sarcastic tone that we were "third" and that others had been waiting two hours. I was also told that "when you begin doctoring" I'll understand that nail trims turn into additional questions. I cut the woman off. She seemed to want an argument; raised my voice that customer service is a simple courtesy and their issue of poor scheduling shouldn't be my problem. I'm not in veterinary school, and I have a 28-year professional career. My concern wasn't that emergencies or longer appointments happen - they absolutely do. My concern was the complete lack of communication and respect for clients' time. If the schedule is running an hour or two behind, a quick phone call or text giving clients the option to arrive later or reschedule is simply good customer service. The one bright spot was the staff member who proactively came out to swab our dog's ears before the appointment. She was kind, efficient, and clearly trying to help the veterinarians stay on schedule. She deserves recognition. Unfortunately, I also witnessed another staff member speaking to a couple with a paralyzed dog in a manner that came across as cold and lacking compassion. Whether intentional or not, bedside manner matters just as much as technical expertise. This entire experience was so upsetting, I left to wait in the car while my mom handled the appointment. Where I live, customer service is paramount (I was bringing in a pet as a favor to a family member currently traveling). I get this is South Florida, but you don't have to live the stereotype. In the end, the delays themselves weren't what disappointed me. It was the dismissive attitude, poor communication and lack of empathy. With better scheduling communication and customer service training, this practice could provide a much better client experience. Oh, and firing that horribly rude woman at the front desk. Editing to add: I'd be remiss if I didn't add, my mother was not allowed back with our pet. The vet comes out to the lobby to discuss animal condition, results, etc. When my mother mentioned he is having issues with his hind leg, she was dismissive and said nothing is wrong with it. Meanwhile, he won't put weight on the leg and has been limping for days. The idea of not being allowed to observe any part of a patient examination is mind-boggling. Yes, you won't be there for x-rays or bloodwork. That's typical. The rest of the exam? You're left wondering what even takes place.
