This has been my go-to HD because of it's ultra easy to find/access location. This HD shares a shopping center w several other businesses, fast food joints, etc. I love that almost anything I need to help fix my Abuelita's house at this store. It is always well stocked & has a nice selection. I load upon my anti-mosquito gear in the garden section but the selection/quantity could be better. This store gets that shopping is a laborious effort because it has a small snack bar where you can purchase food.

El Fenix hotel is a charming 3 start hotel that is over 100 years old in downtown Guadalajara. This hotel has a great location and is situated a couple of blocks from the Cathedral and various museums. The hotel is not fancy by any means, but it works well if you are on a budget and need to be in downtown Guadalajara. The hotel is clean and the staff is very attentive and helpful. I suggest that you skip the hotel's continental breakfast and head to one of the many great restaurants in the area. Our room had a great view of the Cathedral and was very clean. From the 11th and 12th floors you can have the best view of the city and the Cathedral. Don't expect a mini-fridge, bathtub, or safe-box in your room, but nevertheless, the location and staff makes it a great place to stay. I recommend this hotel if you want to experiencce Guadalajara.
