The Herlihy are the best that you can get for your move. We used them 2 times within a year. And both times they were fantastic.

Moving is literally their job. My mother had them scheduled for a month and the day of the move they said they would be late due to another client. They were supposed to be at her house first thing. She had to call them to get an update. Second time she spoke with them they told her they weren't going to make it on the day she scheduled her move. So they changed from first thing to 1pm move day, then changed it to the next day entirely. Reasoning was it's been hot and the movers were tired. Again, she has had this scheduled for a month. What a joke this company is. I would not recommend to anyone. UPDATE: A 13 and 16 y.o. girl, 38 and 64 y.o. woman and a 40 y.o. man did what 4 "professional" movers were too tired to do. We loaded in 2 hours and unloaded an entire house of stuff in and hour and a half. Saved ourselves over 4k and the hassle of dealing with this "company". read more

We recently hired Herlihy to move our belongings, that we had accumulated over the last 38 years, across town to our new house. The crew assigned to our job was out of the Athens, OH office. On 16 April, I contacted Herlihy about an "emergency" move needed for my son. He needed to be out of his rented house quickly and we were not making sufficient progress by ourselves. Despite such sort notice, Helihy sent a crew from their Athens location to Chillicothe early in the morning on 18 April. The crew of four tackled furniture, filing cabinets and even heavy boxes of books with great effort and resolve. When presented with the bill, I was surprised that it was about 2/3 to half of the amount that I had expected. Cudos to Herlihy and the Herlihy crew who did an outstanding job for a reasonable price. Very angry and disappointed in this company and the movers. I thought this was a quality moving service but I was sorely mistaken. We found so many damaged pieces of our furniture it's laughable. They damaged our newly constructed home as they were moving things to the basement, our walls and trim are beat up and this was just after the painter finished painting everything. They completely scratched up our dresser and broke my office desk as well. Recently we found out they broke our very expensive smoker/grill also. The movers were nice enough but they were very young and not careful at all. I even gave them a very generous tip to each of them afterwards as I was so appreciative for them, now I realize that was wasted. Would only recommend using them if you want your things broken. read more

I needed some help moving mid September 2017 so the review is a little late. I paid for 2 movers assistance. The men showed up LATE on a Saturday morning smelling like they bathed in beer. They were not drunk, the beer was from the night before I'm assuming. They were slow (maybe hung over?) and unmotivated to get things done in a timely fashion. They broke my recliner. I give 2 stars because they did manage to get me moved despite their lack of care or motivation. I would not use this company again. read more

The movers were total jerks. I just needed a couch and dresser moved. They charged an hour and did 15 minutes of work because they didnt move the couch to the correct location!! They literally set the couch in the front entry way and drove off as quickly as they possibly could before I could tell them where to put it. They moved the dresser fine I guess because it is really light weight? The couch is a hide-a-bed so it is very heavy. Thats why movers were hired in the first place, but apparently they didnt feel like lifting it either. On top of that the guys were condencending and rude to me, but I heard them laughing to each other like it was some sort of a joke so I don't think they were just having a bad day. I was super polite to them so I am certain they werent reacting to me. I think theyre just bad people or were high... seriously. read more

Two men and a truck did a better job than this company! After working for the AF and a lifetime son and spouse to a career AF wife this company totally dropped the ball! Disorganized from the appointment to review contents to the newbie clowns that packed everything but what Clint and Billy packed. You must stand over the crew from Chillicothe if you want it done right. Huge dissatisfaction with the execution, 1st day the newbies were tolded and shown but still screwed up. Luckily Clint (driver) and his side kicked packed the kitchen, dining room and office areas or more damage would have been found as we unpack! Still have a pool table a week later not put back together because owner dropped the ball in coordinating on the arrival side who had over 3 weeks to prepare for our move. To say I am unhappy is putting it mildly having worked in the Logistics field coordinating 1-4 star Generals moves I cannot believe what this company drl8vered! read more

If your moving long distance, this is your company. Our interstate move involved a mountain shuttle to the waiting rig. The team worked tirelessly and professionally to meet our needs and time schedule. The Tennessee delivery occurred in record breaking low temperatures. It didn't matter to this very professional team. They delivered the move and set up flawlessly. The driver and team supervisor Clint was friendly, accommodating and left no stone unturned to get us where we needed to be on time and with little left for us to be concerned with. They would definitely be my first choice if I ever have the need to move again. This is a class act. read more

I wished I had given more weight to the previous bad reviews on Yelp of this company. Owner Joe Herlihy quoted price over phone and gave no written quote to begin with said crew would have it but would depend on time and sizes of items moved. Crew showed up and said they had wrong truck and may not be able to move all of our things that were scheduled to be taken. We had a Uhaul my 65 year old father-in-law and my 70 year old dad helping pack smaller items. The reasoning for using moving company was to deal with larger and fragile antiques for safe transport. (I mean they are professionals) move distance was 20 miles about a 30 minute drive. Crew had one person that had actually moved people before and 3 newbie kids. 9 hours later, estimated 5 hour packing, Herlihy movers completed the project resulting in a broken banister, an antique chest-of-drawers missing a leg, a family heirloom table with a golfball sized divot out of the top, a dented door from failure to remove couch legs and scuffed and scratched leather furniture. At this point the lead mover requested we sign off on the move as satisfied and offered us the insurance options that should have been covered to begin with. Knowing that these things happen and there was no one to undo the damage that had been done I paid the bill in full and refused to sign the satisfaction statement saying I would take it up with the office the next week. (Friday move) The office person I spoke with was very helpful said that we could have items looked at for repair and the would send someone out. When schedule lined up a gentleman came out to survey the damage, he, like us was openingly critical of the manner in which the items were treated on such a short move. He let us know that someone would be in contact with options for coverage/reimbursement. 3 WEEKS later I called to inquire on status. My call was returned by Joe Herlihy, there was ZERO apology, ZERO I would like to make this right. He instantly started into "Whats it going to cost to make you happy" as if we were scamming them. I said I was unsure what any of the options were and he launched into what they are required to offer legally. On top of arguing that it wasn't their responsibility to do anything he was YELLING at me. I was baffled to say the least. After 7 minutes of his rambling nonsense I asked what he thought was fair to which he replied $200. Satisfied but annoyed. I wish I hadn't paid the bill and made them come to me for negotiations. Oddly enough that was the number I believed was fair too. What was made abundantly clear was several things.1) Joe Herlihy is incapable of behaving like a professional and clearly doesn't have a grasp on appropriate customer interaction 2.) Their moving team should not be trusted with any items of value. If moving bags of pillows I have a feeling they would figure out a way to break them. read more

The office people we organized our move with were nice enough, but the packing was absolutely terrible. We had an average-sized home with an average amount of items to move that a team of five college-age packers managed to spend 1 1/2 days packing. I have never seen so many things broken or lost from a move - expensive furniture, glass lamp shades that were thrown into boxes and not wrapped, piano parts that were lost, all it seems like they cared about was getting it done and out of the house. They even managed to lose a ladder. To be honest, these guys were only qualified to pack clothes and plastic toys. To top it off, we had full insurance and were not reimbursed for everything - even items that they carelessly lost. This was my fifth move, and the fourth long distance move, and this was the only time I have seen so much damage. My advice to Herlihy - pay a little more and hire packers that actually care! read more
