I needed help to relax the muscles after a long flight as I was going to race at Ironman Mont-Tremblant on Aug 18 (Sunday). Also, I had a hamstring/hip injury which was continuously bugging me during my runs, especially towards the end (after 30-33 km) in Marathons. Her treatment did miracle! Not only I felt insanely fresh in all the muscles, but also the soreness at my problem hamstring/hip area almost completely disappeared. This was remarkable - as this was the first and the only time I visited her (I am from California, USA, not from Montreal)! I could do my first Ironman Race with ease (well, relatively speaking! Of course, covering 226 km in a day was not exactly a breezy experience)! Her treatment was miraculous - the freshness that my muscles felt after that was a key element for this.

The practitioner who treated me was disappointing on many levels. He did not do a proper assessment of the situation, rather he immediately jumped to the conclusion that my acute injury whuch occurred over the weekend was the result of poor workplace ergonomics based simply on the fact that I have a desk job and don't have a standing desk. Never mind that I adjusted my desk with a consultation by a professional ergotherapist - I spent 90 min here being preached to about the virtues of standing desks (even though I have a foot problem and have been advised not to use one), with no real treatment of my acute issue itself other than squeezing the limb for several minutes so it would "relax". The next day in addition to the joint issue, now the surrounding muscles are inflamed and sore. I do want to point out that I understand the modality of osteopathy and the fact that sometimes a subtle event can be the straw that breaks the camel's back. However that's not a license for lazy diagnosis. This particular practitioner was a poor listener and pushy and I did not feel like he was listening or trying to properly understand the situation. What he described did not match the pattern of onset of my pain or symptoms. There is something more acute going on and now I am going elsewhere to get an x-ray and a proper diagnosis. I will finally add that the practitioner kept touching and moving his mask during the treatment then putting his bare hands on my neck and shoulders without sanitizing them. This clinic needs better hiring and training processes.

I went to CMI Montreal because they advertised having the only certified hand therapists in Quebec…read more I'm an artist and I was having hand pain pretty specific to of work They gave me an occupational therapist who was not certified for hand therapy, but had some experience in hand therapy. He made an orthosis specifically for my hand after suggesting I had one problem. The orthosis cut my hand, it had sharp edges. It was a device which prevented me from painting. I complained about the forfeit, he said it could be adjusted, but it was normal to cause pain. It cost over $200. I was concerned so I went to an orthopaedic surgeon. He diagnosed me as having something not suggested by the Physio. Hesuggested a different orthosis available through Amazon for about $30 that would allow me to paint. I'm two stars instead of one because I cared and did could. I didn't higher because what he could do wasn't very much.
