There are also comfy couches for reading and toys to play with. There is a wonderful childrens librarian who coordinates story time and other age appropriate activities. Two things to note: 1) getting in and out of the parking lot is sometimes hard going east on broadway. 2) this branch is closed on Sundays

Manages to be huge and modern and glassy while still feeling cozy. It's my absolute favorite place to curl up with a book for a few hours, or bring my laptop and work on writing my novel. It is also very clean, including the bathrooms, with helpful staff. I will say there are many homeless people who like to sleep on the comfy furniture here, and the stench can be something fierce. I'm not trying to be insensitive, but really... the smell is enough to gag me. But when I lived in Honolulu and Portland they had this same problem in the grand main branch of their library. I think it's just what happens in major cities. Fortunately, there are three floors of reading lofts where they do not go, and also all four floors have private study rooms available. You can reserve them online, or you can ask to be let into a walk-in one. They always have several available. Another nice thing about this library is the desks. They have reading lamps and power outlets for laptops. And the place is flooded with natural light. It makes a huge difference in my mental focus and clarity of mind to research or write somewhere with light that is both bright and soft, with a controlled temperature. We are lucky to have this library.

Fortunately, I was working on music and had ear buds in rather loud which slowed me from responding in the moment. I went to the desk later and asked where someone goes online to voice a concern. I was calm and respectful and shown the website and specific link. Then downstairs a female librarian called me an "asshole." I'm back today on the 6th and heard as much again. Unreal. Um, maybe your coworker who is literally breaking federal law, using slurs in the workplace, and harassing patrons is the a-hole. Just a thought. You really have things upside down. I just come in here, keep to myself, enjoy the air conditioning, and try to get schoolwork done. What he is doing is INEXCUSABLE unless you too are, well, you know the term. Overall, I like this library branch. HOWEVER, one of the male librarians apparently thinks workplace harassment is okay. I've heard the f slur come out of his mouth. And then just yesterday he interjected himself between another patron and me. Stay in your lane; mind your own business; and definitely do not continue to engage in harassment of any sort. If you persist, I'll certainly be getting your name, snapping your pic, and all the rest. I realize public libraries have immunity but that doesn't mean I can't deal with you directly. Regardless of your sexual orientation (That is none of my business and I do not care.), it doesn't excuse anything inappropriate and offensive that you say. When I'm thinking about asking a woman on a date I don't need some stranger who doesn't even know me butting in and being ignorant and obtrusive. Again, harassment in the legal sense isn't professional, nor is it permissible. I've basically ignored you thus far but that won't be the case if you continue overstepping and not respecting the requirements of your job.

Whether you're stopping in to check out a book, grab a CD or a movie, hop on a computer, book a private study room, or explore the kids' area, this place really does have it all. They have a big parking lot and I saw some bike racks as well. I love my downtown Saint Paul library but this one might just be my new favorite.

There's plenty to entertain and for children to learn and enjoy. We did a scavenger hunt and earned a hand stamp. They have an outdoor space for warmer weather that you can enter from the children's area. They even have a very cool peg light up board kind of like light brite. I also couldn't believe their selection of books! Wow! For adults they even have certain popular books you can rent for a certain amount each day which entices you to bring back as soon as you're done.

I like this Center very much and utilize many of the facilities and programs. However, I have…read morenoticed a serious problem in the area of the tread mills and electric exercise equipment. There is no signage that children are not allowed in or on them. I witnessed 2 young boys age 8, 9, 10 running around in there trying to use the tread mills...turning them way up almost getting hurt. I told them they should not play on the equipment. However, there is no supervision, or sign saying "children are not allowed on the equipment". If a child gets hurt up there New Brighton could be sued for no signage stating this. I told the front desk and they said they have cameras watching, but there is nothing to state no children and no help available if they get hurt & the front desk is too busy to watch what is going on up there all the time. This is dangerous for kids and dangerous for NBCC if someone gets hurt.

Each window view (other that the ones facing west) was scenic. Ramsey County took down the trees and built this crappy, uninteresting rectangular block instead. The fake "fireplace" is really a joke (I know laughing out loud in the library is frowned upon). The outlook out to the south is now the ugly 97 highway. Still, it houses the books and everything else that the RCL offers, just in a ugly rectangle.

Unique artwork finds its way into each section leading you to spend some time wandering. It seems to be one of the larger collections of books and resources in the county libraries. I have heard stories of how these people have targeted the elderly library patrons. The library needs better parking lot security l. The gate to the library was also broken for 2 months.
