When we hit a snag with the property, Pete was the sole voice of reason, and our only true advocate. Even though this transaction did not happen, Pete protected us and provided solid advice all along the way. This is a characteristic you don't find often in real estate agents, or at least you really hope to find it in your agent- someone that is really looking after your best interests even if it means the transaction is not going to work out. Pete and Joe are playing the long game - they know that true care for their clients will lead to consistent and future business. We are excited to continue to work with them. High marks!! Highly recommended. Look no further for an agent who will work on your behalf!

Back in 2014 my wife and I began exploring homes in the greater Stowe area and reflecting back, it was a stroke of good fortune that we called Pete Kelly. Whether it was life events such our first child, irregular home inspection findings or unpredictable sellers; Pete and his father Joe never showed fatigue and never tried to rush us into anything. At times I had to scratch my head and wonder how such dedication could be profitable but Pete and Joe work on the "client first" principle placing profits second to people. Both Pete and Joe bring a rare combination of realty experience, business sense and good values to the table. In fact, as late as summer of 2016 they openly advised us to pass on a home we were enthusiastic about and raised some important considerations we were not seeing. Remember, this is over a year-and-a-half of showings, inspections, travel and leg-work after seeing dozens of homes. A lesser realtor would have been inclined to just get us into a home and move on. Right up to the end, Pete and Joe did not waver in their commitment to helping us buy a home that best met our specific criteria within our budget. Eventually we did find the right home and we instantly knew it was worth the effort and can see now that Pete and Joe helped us avoid some major pitfalls. As a bonus, the house even appraised for more than what we paid! Pete and Joe were a pleasure to work with and they know the greater Stowe community as well as the community knows them. Whether it was recommending a lender, a restaurant, car services, a handyman or hot tub; the invaluable help went far beyond what could be expected of a realtor. I would be more than happy to elaborate on our experience with The Kelly Realty Group with anyone who is serious about finding the right home at the right price.

My experience is that they are poor listeners and have weak professional skill sets. It seems like a passive income business, you do all the work and they reap all the profits for providing space. My lease stated it would not replace windows. I realized on the first night here there was a bullet hole in one window. It seems a rather shady business. The office on main street is shabby, disorderly and full of stuff. I would not do business with them twice.

When maintenance needs to be done it can take up to two to three months for it to happen. When I moved into my apartment there was a hole in the floor of my bathroom, no smoke detector, and the apartment wasn't cleaned when I moved in, yet I still had to pay for a cleaning deposit. The other tenants of this apartment building are also crooks and thieves. I have had my GPS stolen from my car, and most recently packages stolen from my door step. These acts of theft are not uncommon here either, and are almost common place. If you have any interest in renting in Montpelier, stay away from this place completely. I would recommend looking at craigslist or trying to find a private owner that you may rent from.

TL:DR version: I recently found myself in an unexpected situation that I wasn't sure how to fix,…read moreand Nick Gagne, a property manager from Stone & Browning, went beyond the call of duty to help me out, even though I wasn't a customer and had no ongoing relationship with the business. Longer version: a couple of months ago, I wanted to buy a painting that a local Montpelier business had on their wall; they weren't sure how to handle the payment at the time, but after I got home (to Boston) they told me by email that I could send them a check and they'd hold the painting until I was next in Montpelier. I sent them the check, they cashed it - and then about a week later they went out of business! I only learned about this when I tried to call them about picking up the painting. I figured the painting was probably lost, but I managed to get the name of the business' property management company (i.e. Stone & Browning) from the Internet, and called them, in the hope that perhaps they could figure out where the painting had gone. The person who picked up was very sympathetic and put me through to Nick. On a Friday afternoon, Nick took time out of his day to track down the painting, and then he came in on a Saturday morning (outside his usual working hours) to hand it over to me, because I was heading back to Boston on the Sunday afternoon. So I can't speak to their property management skills from the perspective of a landlord or renter, but my experience in summer 2024 was that it was really easy to get in touch with them (even with a situation that was definitely non-standard), and they were extremely responsive and helpful, especially Nick.

Apt 1 99Elm street barre Vermont Zach tried to hold us against our will with trying to make us pay rent until they were able to rent it to someone else. But we had to suck his ass. I moved into this apartment owned by Stoning Browning on November 14, 2025, and honestly the place from day one was already raising major red flags. This building is not safe for kids or pets at all, it was built in 1901 and it definitely shouldn't be advertised like it is. There was visible mold all over, and the paint is old and falling apart which is really concerning, especially knowing there could be lead paint in a building where families live. I put in multiple maintenance requests and notes pretty much right after moving in, but most of the serious issues were either ignored or barely addressed. I paid for a three-bedroom apartment but the third bedroom was completely unusable. It wasn't just "not great" it felt highly unsafe and unhealthy. The walls would leak so much cold air, the air quality was awful, and there was no way that room could be used as an actual bedroom. Paying for three bedrooms and only being able to safely use two is ridiculous. No one should have to worry about mold lead paint or unsafe living conditions in their own home. This isn't about cosmetic stuff it's about basic health and safety. I would seriously warn anyone with children or pets to think twice before moving here. Management really needs to take responsibility for the condition of this building. The heat bill was $750 a month until I unplugged the gas heaters and ended up buying electric portable heaters. I even tested the apartment for lead paint and the main owner of stoning browning said I was a LIAR!! THIS APARTMENT IS A NIGHTMARE IN THE WINTER!! I cannot imagine the brutal summers. We have since then been moved out but owe suburban propane $3,000 in gas bills because of the leaks in this building. Zach Napolitano is an absolute joke. He accused me of recording him in my own apartment and later banned me from the property for showing up with wrongful issues in the apartment I was living in.
