My weekend was really nice and there are several things I liked about this place. Such as: Its a perfect place for a family, safe and well supervised by not only the park staff but the sheriffs officers as well, there are plenty of hiking trails, lake and creek are both pretty, canoe and kayak rentals, plenty of spots for fishing and hunting. Each lot that you rent comes with a picnic table and a campfire ring. So that is pretty convenient. The only thing that I didn't care for about this park is that the camping sites are so close together. My experiences camping have been pretty extensive so I when they said 'primitive' I expected something a little more well.. primitive. The last time I went camping I visited the Peace River where we were very secluded and really had a more live-off-the-land camping experience so I was kinda hoping for something like that. It was kinda like riding a bike with training wheels. lol Anyway the lots are about 10 yards by 20 and the next one is right beside you. But there are mostly families and boy scouts spending time there so no need to worry about anything weird happening. The lot we rented was $15 a night and two cars are allowed on each lot. But there is a free lot for any additional cars you may need to bring. FYI - E1 and E2 are right by the bathrooms/showers. All in all I wouldn't necessarily call it 'primitive' camping but it is a nice experience if you're just starting out camping and you want to get your feet wet but aren't ready for a full-out secluded camping adventure.

There was a port-a-potty close by and a real bathroom with showers about a 4 minute walk. Staff cleaned the restroom often and the port-a-potty was well maintained. We rented bikes. It was dark and late and we were exhausted. These kind folks welcomes us with open arms, helped us get situated, and earned our business for months to come. We lived there for 1 year and here is just a glimpse of what happened. Fights all the time, yelling, screaming and physical. Cops there almost every weekend for months Pedophile arrested from the park, couples kicked out of the park for having sex inside the public shower houses, theft of packages and mail being opened. We dealt with a neighbor for our year there who constantly harassed us and our children, once she was finally evicted she dumped her black tank out as she left and we had to call Sun Corporate to get an answer as to who was going to come and clean it. Management there tries their best but I would never recommend anyone to stay there very long.

For hiking, go to Parking lot #2 or Main Park Entrance. For camping go to Parking Lot #1 or Campground Entrance! You must register for camping and have a campsite assigned to you or your group! BBQ pits and benches are available. There is a lodge with a kitchen and ice machine that can accommodate up to 80-100 participants. Before you go to CRP, make sure you call and plan out your activity ahead. Some trials may not be available in the raining season. Check your mountain bike to ensure they are in excellent working condition as there is an advanced or more difficult biking trials. No dogs or alcohol are allowed in the park! Caloosahatchee Regional Park is a hidden gem in Lee County! Bring plenty of water and enjoy the nature, hiking or camping!

(in the middle of Florida!)…read more We discovered this charming remote gay campground 3+ years ago, when my husband, black lab and I rented one of the 3 yurts for a long weekend, over Thanksgiving, and have been coming down ever since. It was the community of existing "perms" (permanent) campers, weekenders, and eventually northern snowbirds -- who all contribute to the success of this evolving camp ground (and dare I say play-ground?) Orange groves, herds of cattle, and scrub palmetto's line the road to Venus Florida -- however when you drive through the central part of Camp Mars a canopy of live oak shade your site (and maybe just a few bare chests and the occasional bare ass (only at the pool, they insist!). It just doesn't get any closer to nature. There's few bugs, a friendly atmosphere, invitations to wine & cheese parties, or after-hours campfires. We were surprised that this campground (100 sites?) had so much to offer -- heated pool with pop music, large rec hall with a commercial grade kitchen open to all tenters, campers, alike, movies under the stars, sat eve themed dance parties, bingo on Friday, mexican train most nites, pot lucks on saturday for dinner, tent camping along the shared fenceline with cows, Pedro's trail for the nature lover/man lover and of course the newly expanded Gentleman's Club -- open all day, all nite, when you're a little restless. Let's be honest though...it's the friends you meet here, that make the difference. The ones who invite you to taste their homemade bbq rub, or the ones who help you "doll up" for your first drag attempt, or those who ask you to help out in fixing an adult mac 'n cheese for the pot-luck, that rub your shoulders as you sit poolside with a rum & coke. It's those connections, locating kindred spirits that make Camp Mars so alluring -- without all the drama. Only 2 hours from Tampa Bay (and similarly from Miami/Ft. This historic 9000-acre park opened in 1931. It's considered an old growth forest and full of bald…read morecypress trees. There are a wide variety of endemic wildlife and plants. The main feature of this wonderful park was the boardwalk that goes through the swamp forest. Some really old trees that are possibly 1000 years old, is located in this park. There are nine trails, a campground, a playground, and a picnic area. There's a 3-mile loop trail for biking and driving. Also, a museum and concession built by the Civilian Conservation Corps; they constructed many buildings, bridges, and blazed trails in Florida State Parks. We were staying nearby and decided to explore this park. I enjoyed the historic land and old trees. The boardwalk was pleasant to stroll on; I saw quite a few memorial plaques. Generations of people walking on the same paths decades ago. It's a peaceful place and I'm glad they didn't turn it into farmland back in the 1930s.

The park is located on Lake Josephine, and if you like to fish our go boating everything you need is here including a fish cleaning space. You can also invest in a dock if ones available, or store your boat for a reasonable rate. The sunsets over the lake can be part of your daily routine and some nights they are spectacular. The residents here are always friendly, and smiling, and enjoying getting together for the many activities that are offered. Tennis, pickleball, bocce, horseshoes, putt putt, shuffleboard,various crafts and games. Tai chi, Walk walk, Line dancing classes, water aerobics, and many more. Lunch is served in season at the Cafe on the lake. Excellent choices at a reasonable price, and with the gentle breezes off the lake, and wild life in full view a delightful place relax or socialize. The office staff is friendly and accommodating especially, Brittney. She is very knowledgeable and experienced. The manager is easy to talk to and available if you need information regarding the park. This park is a hidden treasure in central south Florida.

Instead of a car show they should have an antique mobile home show! Everyone of the people that live there take pride in their homes! Everyone's so nice, lots of dog walking and friendly waves! We will not hesitate to book here again when visiting Sebring! We had a lot of fun in the last three days visiting the Hammond state park and taking the tram tour , eating at all the yummy restaurants, going to the Secret Gardens winery tasting, walking the Historic Circle in the Sebring Town! Many campgrounds have the name "RV Resort" In it and are anything but a resort. Creekside is a resort plus more. There are many activities throughout the week with a clubhouse that is meticulously groomed, new, contemporary in appearance, extremely clean and air conditioned. The fitness center is the nicest I have seen in any "rv resort", the bathrooms (including the satellite bathhouses) are as clean as my own in my home, the pool, jacuzzi, and pickleball courts are very well kept up. Those of you that enjoy playing pickleball, there is a wonderful group that plays regularly. The management, Elise and Rick and office staff are extremely nice and always helpful and available. They run this resort as if It was their own property. If I were to change anything it would be to add more machines to the laundry facility and to lower the rates a bit as it is on the pricey side, though I guess you get what you pay for. The grounds are the nicest we have every stayed at. All sites are rather large (especially for Florida standards) with grass between each built with paver pads for the rv, picnic table and vehicle. The first section has a large man-made lake with a beautiful view. The town of Punta Gorda is also very nice and with good restaurants. We are looking forward to returning next year.

We were able to put our big ole truck next to the rig easily. It was super quiet and everyone was friendly. The owners are very kind and caring. They seem like they enjoy what they are doing. The only reason I gave this park a four instead of a four five is there are no laundry facilities or bath house. Although we didn't need either, it's good to know in advance so you can be prepared. It takes about 15 minutes to get into town. Not many good restaurants nearby but we decided to cook. We also perused the flea market. Okeechobee is a truly unique place where everyone says hello, holds the door open and is friendly.
