Do not go here for any sort of food that is not a burger. I am assuming they can't screw those up but our meal was not at all good.
I've wanted to go here for over a year and finally made it in. It has a nice atmosphere that drew me in, dark wood and photos of Papa but the food was utterly disappointing.
My guest had an asian noodle pasta that came with a sauce that was sweeter than it was anything and it was most similar to a penne pasta. It reminded me of bottle wishbone french dressing, not asian, not good, just sweet. When the waitress was asked why they say Asian noodle for a penne, she told her that they have been using the same noodle for 34 years. The waitress was probably early twenties, do you think maybe she had had that conversation before? Their conversation was in German, which I can't follow, and it's probably a good thing because I would have immediately asked to speak to a manager if she showed me that attitude.
I had the jambalaya. I've eaten jambalaya in New Orleans and at least a few other southern states, and I have even cooked it myself with the help of a good recipe. I am sure their chef has not done either of those things. I literally don't think that they have ever looked up a recipe. This was a bowl of mushy rice with a catsup sauce with a little pepper in it, tiny previously frozen shrimp, the type sold for salads and some chunks of chicken.
Like I said, maybe their burgers are good but it seems their sauces are all catsup based, sweet and unappetizing.
To top it all off, the bill was 30 euro (not bad for 2 entrees and 3 beers) and they don't take credit cards!? I know Germany is more of a cash society but what nice sit down restaurant does not take credit cards? I guess the ones that use penne for asian noodles and catsup as a sauce base. read more
