The Mr found shorts that did the trick, in fashionable, wearable linen. I found some super comfy Geox sparklie walking sandals which suited much better than the hot trainers I brought along Filled out the tax free forms & we were back on our way to walk about & enjoy the summery day

Hubby and I were strolling through Rue St. Catherine when we decided to check out Galeries…read moreLafayette. It was lightly raining that day, and I wanted to buy a scarf to keep me warm. I ended up buying two scarfs! Everything in the store was neatly organized and so appealing. It reminded me of a Nordstrom or Macy's back in the states with their perfume counters and clothing displays. Reasonable prices too. Loved it!

What I like about it: it's not too big, so you don't get lost, and you can see where the shops are almost from any point. There is a Starbucks coffee shop!! And some tables to sit outside. I'm looking forward to see how they will decorate it for xmas! Happy shopping!

The shops are discounted, and you'll find a great choice, ranging from Reebock and Le Coq Sportif, to Hugo Boss, Teddy Smith, Princess Tam Tam, DPAM (kids) and many more. It's family friendly with people walking, biking, roller blading, eating, and picnicking. The favorite weekend haunt for locals is the Marche, an open air market that has everything including vendors selling cheese, sausages, flowers, mushrooms, vegetables, roasted chickens, wine, breads, pastries, olive oils, fish, meats, vinegars, and best of all, plates of fresh oysters. River boats dock along the Quai including UniRoyal, Viking, and the Bordeaux day trip boats. Make sure to visit this market to pick up your picnic supplies, then walk along the Quai, find a grassy knoll, and enjoy people watching. This is an authentic French experience.
