Their prices are higher than almost everywhere else in the area. Every time I go in there and buy…read moresomething on sale, it never rings up right. Today they overcharged me $17 for sale items. And if you complain? You get a bad attitude. Several of the workers are so unfriendly, it's intimidating to even go in there. Unfortunately there's not much else in the area. The store hasn't been updated since the '70s. The belt on the register has been broken for years, with a big sign that you need to push your own groceries. Several of the employees sit on a stool at the register and do nothing to help you. You're better off going to Walmart in Honesdale, 15 minutes away

I understand they are a small independent store and do not have the buying power of larger chains,…read morebut they are an IGA and are way overpriced compared to other IGAs. Their cold cuts often go bad within a few days and on a few occasions, the deli ham was rancid as soon as I got it home with an overwhelming stink from the package once i opened it. They did make good on it and gave me my money back. I've also had the same problem buying their pork and chicken. .. another problem is since covid they are wrapping up their breads in cellophane. As a result The Bagels and Club Rolls not only have a strange consistency but always seem to be stale. The good thing is though, they do employee quite a few locals in an area where there really isn't much of anything except the new gentrified stores and boutiques being open by the rich idiots coming in from the city and trying to take over the area.

New Yorkers love their delis, and if just half of them are like this one, I can see why. JJ Delicatessen has an excellent assortment of meats, cheeses and dried goods, many from European countries like Germany and Poland. My girlfriend and I ordered sandwiches on a Saturday morning. We had to wait a little over twenty minutes, and the woman advised that next time we call our orders in ahead of time because the hot sandwiches take awhile. So that's your tip for the day. But they were worth waiting for. Fairly priced, excellent quality, and came with a few sides. I got the Polish sandwich special and my girlfriend got the Mediterranean sandwich special. There is a small seating area in the deli, but we took them with us and ate them in the car. It was a great lunch that we ate right before an afternoon of hiking at High Point State Park in NJ. Highly recommend this deli!

I really wish I could rate this place higher than this, but all that comes to mind when I think of…read morethis place is 'salty.' It seems like this is something of an institution and even for first-timers like us, it's not hard to see why. It's a European-leaning local deli that is clean, well stocked with interesting goodies, and that's is a cozy dining room in the front end of the shop. The two ladies we interacted with were fairly friendly and helpful, and after an agonising few minutes looking at the menu, we decided on the Polish and Italian sandwiches (vs heroes, which are bigger, cost a bit more, and are served on a roll). What I liked was the fresh tasting pickle that comes with the sandwich. In fact, the pickle may have been my favourite thing, period. The macaroni salad and potato salad were enjoyable if not particularly memorable. Now, the sandwiches. They look great, delicious even. We could tell they were made with care. From the first bite though, so I could think was, why's this SO salty? To this day, we're not sure what the culprit(s) were. Without the saltiness, I think they could have been delicious sandwiches. Perhaps this is how the locals like it. Maybe this is some sort of traditional way to prepare these sandwiches. All I know is that it traumatised my taste buds so much that I didn't have an appetite for another meal for the rest of the day. And of course I was quite thirsty for a few hours afterwards. I hope they keep improving and stay open for many more years.
