These bagels suck. They are not real nyc bagels you would expect from a bagel shop. They are supermarket bagels from key food. Oversized, fluffy inside no crunch. Salmon cream cheese was also subpar. It was thin and foamy not rich like cream cheese should be. They're definitely skimping on the quality of their cream cheese. Service is meh - it's a bagel shop so whatever but they aren't particularly friendly. The shop itself is not exactly inviting or demonstrating that the owners care. So disappointed in this place. On top if that as of july 2025, they have a C rating from the health department. It takes a LOT of violations for a C rating. Yuck. Cross this place off if you want a real bagel. If you like supermarket bagels go to key food - they're half the price there. read more

A went here earlier this year when we first moved to the neighborhood and it was okay. Price was reasonable, and the bagels were hot while soft and bready on the inside if not traditional; good spreads. What I like best was the old signs and charm of a spot that had been around a while. Recently they changed all the signage to somewhat tacky modern stuff and raised all the prices. Lost the charm it had left. Not it just blends in with everything else on Queens Blvd. Hopefully the loyal clients keep coming as it is a decent place to get a grab and go on Austin that is not Dunkin. I'm a big fan of Michael's Bagels. It's a neighborhood spot and it always seems like there are regulars there. There isn't a ton of seating, so it's more of a grab and go spot, not so much a sit down place. They've got everything you'd expect from a typical bagel joint, including a ton of cream cheese options and other spreads. Living in Boston, I'm always excited to have a New York bagel and these bagels here lived up to my expectations. The bagels are soft, with just the right amount of chew, and they're not too dense. I just went for an everything bagel with no spread this time, but when I've had their tuna and egg salad in the past, they were pretty solid. You come here for the bagels, not the service. We decided to try it one day when we passed by and noticed it was emptier than usual. We didn't see anyone use credit card so guess it might be a cash-only spot. We tried an onion bagel with scallion cream cheese and ate it right away. It has a great crunchy exterior with a gently toasted interior and thick slab of cream cheese. Firm, not runny cream cheese. Plenty of scallion. Good chunk and great flavor. It was really enjoyable. We came twice - one time where staff wasn't chatty (older gentleman) and another time when the staff (different employees) were great. It's all good because the bagels will speak for themselves. Almost $11 for two bagels so it depends on how much you really want that bagel. Yet another time, three bagels were $13. I do love that crunch with their toasted bagels though. Decent bagel shop with efficient service and a good selection of bagels (though you have to come early if you want all the flavors bc if they run out, then they're just out) and cream cheese. A little pricey, especially if you're getting additional toppings, like lox. If you're eating at home, I'd recommend buying your lox somewhere else and just adding it on yourself (though the lox quality is quite good here). Stopped by for a quick lunch and got a cinnamon raisin bagel with vegetable cream cheese. Bagel isn't too dense or too fluffy and the cream cheese has a good cream cheese to vegetable ratio. The flavors aren't particularly strong in either, which is great if you wanna top it off with some lox or different topping as well. There are definitely raisins and other chunks of vegetable in the bagel and cream cheese which is great for the occasional extra bit of flavor. Service was very quick and to the point. Not much of a line (though it WAS the afternoon). There was only one employee so I did not witness any screaming or oddities that the other review mentioned. I also got a pretty simple order, so did not have to repeat it or clarify. I recently brought six bagels from this establishment. Three plain and three Cinnamon Raisins. I purchased these items at 10am, last Tuesday morning. All six items were stale. I could have used the Cinnamon raisins bagels for hockey pucks (all three). The three plain bagels faired no better, they were dry and doughy, toasting them did not help, as toasting bought out the fact that they were not throughly baked. I also ordered the tuna fish, very bland. This was my second time ordering bagels, the first time I ordered three plain bagels, at a later in the afternoon, and they were very good. My two issues which prevented me from giving them a better rating is my bagel had very little cream cheese, and lastly the sign posted the price as $9.20 but I was charged $12.00 not including tax. Somehow, someway I missed the new ownership signs frim Bagels, ETC. Odd, as I am in and around the area with frequency, so I walked in to give Michaels a try. The very first visual, I tease you not, was that of a sixty something year old gentleman behind the counter attempting to untangle a foot long strip of saran wrap with his mouth. So, I though that this fellow is either about to perform a magic trick, like making a bialy disappear or lacked any clue of food handling rights and wrongs. Well, the bialy didn't disappear & the offender waddled into the back after an assistant came to his rescue & saved the plastic, much to my chagrin. The bagels coming over the counter looked unappealing and my order wasn't eagerly taken by Frick and Frack in the front, as the folded piece of saran wrap image danced in my head. Out of the back came a woman, possibly married to the gent still playing with the same plastic I could view over her left shoulder, I think she was attempting to shield his buffoonery. She looked tired as if this was not his first attempt witnessing this Cosmo Kramer episode. Taking my order with a subtle smile, my everything bagel with scallion cream cheese was served up with a warm smile. It was excellent, rye made it in the everything topping adding a wonderful flavor to the finish. It's absolutely delicious bagel place. I love their flavored CC. But every time when I went there the owner or manager totally ignored or never welcomed. Always take regular customers and than take my order even though I make A line. Every visit I felt racism. My last visit is the one makes me totally stopped going there. I used to frequent Bagels For You and Forest hills bagels both on Queens boulevard religiously. Over the years the lack of quality and consistency is becoming very evident and I started looking for a new bagel shop to frequent. I've been to Michaels bagels a few times now and can easily say their customer service and quality is far superb to those in the surrounding area.
