Please do not go here. Took a pair of heels for a simple job. Was told they would call me in a couple of days. They never called, went to pick my heels. They couldn't find them and once they found them they had not work on them. Bo Apologies, they said come back in 2 hours. Came back after 3 hours. They had removed the caps of the heels but was told they couldn't do it because they need a special part that would take weeks. Mind you I had been clear that I needed them by this weekend as I need them for a wedding. No apologies and a true pain and waste of my time. If you care for your shoes don't waste your time. Drove to Naperville to Naperville Cobbler and Joe was able to get them done in less that 10 minutes. If there was a -5 I would have given them that. read more

I had never been to this shoe repair before but needed soles repaired on a pair of shoes. When I dropped them off, the employee told me they'd be done/ready in two weeks. I waited two weeks plus two days and went in to pick them up. When I got there and asked for them, the employee got them off the rack and said they haven't been done yet. Two weeks and they didn't even begin to do the job. Ridiculous. I took my shoes back and took them someplace else. STAY AWAY!!!!! Geneva Shoe repair had them fixed in less than one week. read more

I went with a friend to pick up a leather item. The item was ruined due to cleaning. My friend questioned what happened and the owner quickly became upset and blamed my friend for the issue. As an observer, along with 2 other customers, I'm shocked at how he treated her and wouldn't admit fault. His behavior became Out of control. I'd that how you treat customers? My friend was respectful and didn't raise her voice. He did and embarrassed himself. Go elsewhere. read more

Incredibly awful experience. Shocking actually. Dropped off something months ago and had nice conversation about what needed to be fixed. Never heard from him. And every time I called, he kept saying he hadn't gotten around to it yet. Called again last week and he said it was finished. He told me he was able to do what we talked about. I went to pick it up and the item is completely ruined. Needs to be thrown out. Cannot be salvaged. I was heartbroken. I tried to ask him what happened and he immediately started to be verbally aggressive, rude and insulting. He wouldn't answer my question about how the item got so damaged while at his shop. I didn't raise my voice at all. I was not confrontative or inappropriate in any way..A friend and other customers in the store were shocked as well. He knew he ruined it even though he wouldn't own up to it because he didn't even try to charge me a penny for the work he said he had done. I just took the item and left. Do NOT use him. read more

I moved to St. Charles over a year ago, but I still continue to go downtown for my services. My cobbler whom I have been using for 3 years, closed his business, so I was stressed to find a replacement. I did a Yelp search followed by a Google search and found Heel or Hide. While I have only had 1 pair of heels replaced and polished, they looked awesome and the owner was very personable and you can tell that he takes pride in his work. read more

Amazing! I had the rubber come off on the bottom of one of my heeled boots and desperately needed it fixed ASAP! I called 2 hours before they closed, assuming I'd be shot down since I needed them that night. But he told me to come in and fixed it within the hour! I always thought that once the heel was damaged (on all of my favorite, worn in and comfy heels/boots) were done...but I'm extremely glad that they can be revived! Great place! I love supporting local small businesses and picked this place based on the reviews...which is why I am writing mine. The short version is that it was a very frustrating, unprofessional experience from the start and in the end I never got my item back. The longer version is that I dropped off an heirloom authentic Louis Vuitton purse to have it cleaned up and repaired. After about a month of no phone call or updates, I decided to stop in and see if it was ready. I was told some leather needed to be ordered for the strap, so it was not ready yet. Fine, ok it happens. About about another month or two, I still had not received a phone call so I stopped in again. This time I was told the the man working on my purse (who I assume is the owner) did not like the color of the leather, so he had re-ordered more. I left my number again this time and mentioned I had not received a phone call, so could they please keep me updated. More time passes, still no phone call. I stop in a third time and now the strap has been added, but when I open the purse the lining is still in need of repair which was specified when I first dropped it off. So, I come back a fourth time and this time my item is gone. The owner looked around for it and said " I know it's here somewhere", but after 20 minutes my kids were getting antsy and we could not wait anymore. When I told him this whole process had been very frustrating and I was worried about my missing item, he was defensive and incredibly rude and told me it was my fault for not coming back sooner! He refused to apologize, basically told me to leave and said he would call when he found it. I just called (two weeks later) and was told he's still looking for it and he's not responsible for items left over 30 days! While I DO NOT recommend this store, if you do go for some reason, take photos of your item, keep your receipts, and document communications. I relied a little too much on the assumption of trust and good will and I got burned. I lost an irreplaceable item and am very sad about that, but hopefully with this review I can save others some grief. read more

Gets 5 stars for me. I was at the Harley-Davidson in st. Charles and asked where I could get some patches sewn on for my vest. And Ron the owner did an amazing job. Price was cheap and the quality is truly top-notch. You can also see from his website that he clearly works with and vests along with other motorcycle leather products. I knew he was the one to go to. He even got it done a day before he originally planned. So I tipped him an extra five bucks. I love supporting local business and went here when the zipper on my winter coat needed to be repaired. He checked the zipper, said he could repair it and had the parts in his shop. I went back 2 weeks later and my coat was on the floor. It hadn't been repaired and he said he needed to order a different zipper and should be ready the next week.3 more weeks and I stop in. My coat is at least not on the floor but still not ready. He says he thought he called me and it needs a different zipper to be ordered. I told him it's fine I'll take the coat. He gets belligerent for all the time he spent on it (what time, it's not fixed?!!!!) And tells me it'll cost$10 to get my coat back. I give him the$ while he's yelling at me to have my boyfriend fix it. Stay away from this place. read more

Impossible to believe this is the same place with several positive reviews. I took some expensive leather flats in to be reheeled, resoled and fixed from my puppy chewing on the back of one of shoes. At first it was going to take a week, then two, then almost 3 weeks went by. I had called intermittently to check and got the "I'm going to get to them today". When he finally called and said they were ready, not only had they had not been reheeled, but the resoling on the inside consisted of a very poorly pasted in pleather insert with visible glue all around it which didn't have any padding underneath. Obviously they can't be worn that way. I will take them elsewhere to see if they are even fixable at this point. Oh and he still charged me $15 for that disaster. I took them and ran. Have taken my saddle in for repair twice now. Repair was done well and at a fair price. Love that this is an owner operated small business. Because this is a one man operation you need to understand that depending upon how busy the owner is it may take an hour or a couple weeks to get the repair done. Feels good to support home town business though. read more

Let me tell you about my experience at this store. I dropped off a boot that the heel was loose on and a pair of pumps to have the heel guards replaced on a saturday. I was told they would be ready by the middle of the next week. I said no big deal as I wouldn't be back until that Saturday. When he was taking my contact information, I don't know if it was the owners daughter, but she lunged at me and hit me right in the face. He apologized and because she was disabled, I didn't make a big deal about it although I was stunned. Flash forward to Saturday. I go to pick up my items and he can't find them. I said "do you need the ticket you gave me" and he said that that didn't help him because the ticket was in the shoe. So he's looking and looking and can't find them and says "well this is a first". Then he asks me if I see them anywhere? Anyways, he finally finds them and they're not done. I asked him why he told me then they'd be done by the middle of the week and he said that "some jobs take longer so he didn't get to it" but I could come back later today and he'd have them ready or I could just them. I told him I needed these as I was leaving out of town and was wanting to bring these items with so I would just take them with me. He then got an attitude. I said "wow". He said what did you say and I repeated "wow". He then told me to leave his store and that he didn't want my business. I told him he didn't need to worry about that because I will never come back. I then reminded him that I was physically assaulted when I dropped off the shoes and he said " she's handicapped". I said so does that give her the right to hit people? He then followed me out of the store insulting my physical appearance and told me to get back in my " piece of "shit" car and to make sure I write a review online. I don't know if yelp will post this review but this is exactly what happened to me. So if you like being told your stuff will be ready and its not, and then not being able to have your items found and possibly being physically assaulted, then by all means, please go to this place of business. I would give a zero rating not the one star I had to give it. read more
