Our day-of host, Pete, was very courteous and helpful. We did have trouble getting management to respond to our emails and texts in the months leading up to the wedding. At one point, we didn't hear back for a full month. We also were told during our initial tour that the sound systems installed in the chapel and reception hall would be available to use, but were later told that we couldn't use the sound systems that are permanently installed, and rather we had to provide our own speakers and equipment. Other than the communication trouble and speaker situation, we really enjoyed having our wedding at River Road.

The location in Anna, TX is remote enough to make it feel secluded. Set off a country road, there is plenty of open field parking. From what I could see, there was the main reception building and the outdoor wedding space was across the creek. Upon arrival to the reception area, very nice, top of the line golf carts were waiting to chauffeur guests to the outdoor ceremony area. The ceremony took place outdoors past a small creek where there was a quaint bridge. The seating was set up in neat rows where the centerpiece had a lovely antique chandelier. There was also a mic set up and outdoor speakers so the vows could be easily heard as well as music to bookend the ceremony. Our friends who got married are huge Anglophiles and they chose "London Calling" by The Clash to take their first walk down the aisle as man and wife. Great touch! For the reception, the building has lots of long tables and some round ones. There was also a dance floor space. The only thing I would say here, is I wish there were some noise abatement measures. While there were speakers to amplify the toasts and speeches, the large space was too boomy to hear with clarity. Other than that, the space was very nice. There are also rooms to the sides of the main room for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready. The restrooms were also very clean and well maintained. Overall, I thought River Road Venue was a lovely place to attend a wedding and had beautiful grounds. I would definitely love to attend another wedding here again sometime.

Amanda and her entire team were amazing from start to finish. Their communication throughout the planning process was outstanding, and they went above and beyond to make everything seamless. They provided so much of the décor, which took a huge weight off our shoulders. Every staff member was incredibly professional--well-dressed, polite, and respectful. So many "yes ma'am, no ma'am" moments paired with truly genuine service. Even the security guard was wonderful and added to the sense of professionalism and safety. The venue itself is stunning. The outdoor spaces are beautiful, and the indoor areas are just as gorgeous. Everything was clean, organized, and so accommodating. If you're planning a wedding, this is absolutely the place to do it. Truly a 10/10 experience!

The venue was very modern throughout and in the main room there are barn doors that open up to the outside. Also for large party sizes there is an upstairs that can hold additional guests. If you are looking for a wedding venue, I'd highly recommend touring the Oak & the Ivy.

We hired Ellen to take our engagement pictures, and we were so happy with her amazing work that we asked her to be our wedding photographer as well. Not only are the shots wonderful, capturing every aspect of the wedding that we wanted - from those candid moments, to the emotion on a person's face, to even the smallest of details (flowers, decor, cake...), she also did a phenomenal job editing them, and working her creative magic through filters and artful use of color. Ellen captured it all beautifully. As a person, she is very personable and down-to-earth, and seeks ideas of what types of pictures her clients want. If you give her a small clue, she can do the rest! I can't say enough how pleased I am with her pictures of our special day. However, many of the lack of details that should've been taken care of took away from a perfect wedding/reception. Being in the winter time, heaters were to be available. Should have been on standby and placed in the area should it get too cold, which was the case! Many of the attendees including myself, were cold! The heaters were not on standby, and everyone were uncomfortably cold throughout the ceremony. Some thing that the wedding coordinator should have taken care of. Other observations were that the food was not ready and attendees had to wait , some of the soft drinks such as Ginger ale ran out, and the bartender had to get someone to acquire more The bartender was great also! Many of our dishes were not clean at our table and had to be replaced. As I understand it, the colors that were promised in the flowers, and table arrangements, and the bouquets were not the colors of the wedding, and had to be remade at the last minute the morning of the wedding! Very stressful For the bride! I do not feel these details were unreasonable, and the wedding coordinator should have taken care of these details at minimum.

(We weren't late but close. I'm guessing otherwise it wouldn't have been crowded.) The beams and chandelier were beautiful! We were towards the back and viewing the wedding party was almost impossible. It would have been helpful if they were elevated a bit. We waited outside as they transformed the barn to reception ready. It wasn't fast but the weather was great and enjoyed a beautiful view and sunset. We left before the reception so I can't review the service.

We ended up doing our engagement pictures just a few days before the wedding and she was so flexible and went straight home to edit them so we could have prints for our wedding day! I really can't say enough about how the engagement pictures and wedding pictures turned out! While she is a bit pricier than other photographers I looked at I figured good pictures last a lifetime, especially when hearing horror stories from friends wedding photographers! Man was she worth the splurge! Plus she is just a sweetheart and makes you feel totally comfortable in front of the camera!!
