Went for brunch 2 weekends in a row, best brunch I've had in years! They have a new menu and I got to try 7 of the offerings over the 2 weeks. Everything is super fresh, high quality, and obviously crafted with skill, imagination and care. The pancakes with rhubarb compote and hibiscus butter were insanely good, cakelike and dense without being too heavy. Decent food, terribly slow service. Won't be back. Staying at The Heathman Hotel for a weekend staycation and had dinner reservations for Saturday evening. I waited about 15 minutes for water once I was seated at my table. Since I had enough time to peruse the menu by then I also placed my order then. I ordered an app and entree. The app came out 20 minutes later and the entree came out 30 minutes after that. I am not exaggerating. Everything was painfully slow. The food was okay. I asked what the catch of the day was and the answer was Alfredo pasta with bacon wrapped prawns. Huh? In what world is the catch not... fish? That was very strange to me. I wasn't in the mood for pizza or burgers which dominate the dinner menu so I opted for steak. The steak was fine - well seasoned and cooked as I specified so that was good. It came with arugula and sweet potato fries. Everything was fine but nothing blew my mind. Overall, I personally won't be back. We wandered over to Hearth at the Heathman on a whim. I'm generally not a fan of hotel restaurants unless I've already read about them (ex. Ben Paris in downtown Seattle). I find most are overpriced and disappoint. Hearth, on the other hand, was wonderful. Their outdoor space is covered and well heated (I actually would've preferred a bit more circulation bc Covid). But the tables are spaced out and we were plenty warm. It's a super comfortable area and we were seated promptly for Sunday brunch. My friend got the chicken and biscuits, which was stunningly presented and comes with gravy and a fried egg. I opted for the mushroom farm egg skillet, which was a perfect mix of veggies served in a small cast iron pot. There were gorgeous hen of the woods and tiny artisanal mushrooms, plus Mama Lil's peppers and goat cheese and potatoes. I opted for two fried eggs on top instead of the scramble, and they were perfectly over medium -- not too hard, and just a little bit of ooze when poked. The side salad and fresh toast were a total bonus. Service was prompt and attentive. I wish the coffee were a little hotter and fresher, but we strolled in close to 2 pm on a Sunday. Found my new favorite brunch spot! The bananas foster French toast was amazing, and the bacon was crispy. The potatoes that come with the eggs Benedict I'd eat 100x more. They're perfectly salty and crispy. I also love that you can get mimosas with different juices. The outside eating area is fully enclosed with heaters, so with a jacket I was fine! Took a star off for service. The food took almost an hour to arrive.. and when the food runners dropped it I ordered another mimosa, which never arrived. So for that I remove a star. A couple weeks ago on a Sunday morning I stumbled upon the hearth . I was looking for a restaurant to make my crew on short notice. There were 5 of us. First thing my whole crew noticed was a younger male waiter complaining about his customers so I was not expecting much. To my pleasure a waitress named Candice greeted us with a warm welcome and within a minute had us laughing and helping us with the menu. If you're looking for outdoor seating this fall and this winter, Hearth is a great option. The patio is fully covered and has heat--not just heat lamps but actual pumped-in heat from vents in the ceiling. I was perfectly comfortable on a cool and windy evening without my jacket on. Food is pretty good. We had Brussels sprouts for an appetizer and each got a pizza. I had two lovely martinis as well. Service was quick and friendly too! read more

Oh no! What happened to your delicious pizza? I ordered one tonight after about a year and found it had completely changed. What happened to that fabulous peperoni? This was like Hormel...sauce was simply a very bland tomato sauce. At $26.00 for a 12" pizza it was no better than Zeeks...what a shame. Service was okay, we probably won't be here again I ordered the Mac and cheese in which there was barely any breading or flavoring at all. The pizza wasn't bad, but all I could taste was the sauce and the burnt bottom. Nothing else. Hearth isn't exactly new anymore, but I'm so glad to see this place in Kirkland. What a solid option for happy hour! They've got a mid-day HH from 3-6, and a night time one as well from 9 - close. I especially like the patio here. It's covered, you can do people watching, AND it's heated so it's open year round. Freakin' score. They've got giant Connect 4 and giant Jenga in case you need some added entertainment. Service here is fantastic. Conrad specifically stood out to me. He's so down-to-Earth, and just downright sweet! You can tell he really likes working with people and really aims to make sure everybody is happy and taken care of. He made us feel like we were the only people in the place. Give this man a raise, pronto! On to the good stuff - food and draaaanks. We're not really huge into cocktails. You can find us skimming the beer & wine deals nine times out of ten. They got us with their amazing PBR deal - a tall boy for $3. Oh hell yeah! We tried the Mini Hearth Burger and mannn, it was good. It's $5 which could almost be considered a steal because it tastes so delicious. The patty is juicy and full of flavor, but the charred onion relish, smoked gouda, and garlic aioli just take you on an explosion of flavor. THEY'RE SO GOOD. Definitely recommend for happy hour if you're in the area. I'd love to get back sometime soon and try a full lunch or dinner! read more

We ordered drinks first. It took more than 15 minutes just to get our drinks. Then probably another 5 minutes before she came back to take our order. The frittata was not a frittata, it was scrambled eggs with veggies. It did not have that velvety custard like texture that makes a frittata a frittata. My Parmesan potatoes were cold when I got them. Like cold cold, not like warm. The amount of money you pay for this food it should be way better. I don't recommend this place. read more

Very understaffed. We won't be coming back. Had a reservation for 12 pm. Waited 30 minutes to be seated after we were told 15-20 mins (to wait on a reserved in advance table). Everyone looked very stressed. Nobody took our order for another 20 minutes. Then it took over 20 minutes to get our food, and the drinks came in half way through the meal. Two stars for the folks working in such demanding conditions and for the food, which was good. The staff are nice and friendly, but it is not fair to neither the employees nor the customers to be put into such stressful working conditions with so little staff. We would have appreciated heads up before coming out that the wait would be a full hour past our reserved time, we would have gladly made alternative arrangements for brunch. read more

Hearth was a massive disappointment. Over priced, under seasoned food is the short version of this review. The wait staff were very friendly which saved this from being a 1-star rating. The chef perhaps is pathologically allergic to salt and or any other seasonings. My wife ordered the frittata which was supposed to have Beecher's cheese and foraged mushrooms. Both were likely buried in the hammered egg pile served in a cast iron skillet...however the overcooked eggs had absolutely no seasoning. What chef does not cook mushrooms with salt, garlic, onion, thyme, etc? If the frittata was supposed to be a play on cardboard, then well done - nailed it! I ordered the burrata toast which spoke to me because the description included extra virgin olive oil powder, a technique typically accomplished by using tapioca multi dextrin to transform the oil into a powder. The EVOO powder was the best thing on the plate. The bread was not toasted, the arugula not chopped to make it easier to eat. The tomato jam was clunky and under seasoned. The final cherry on this disappointing cake was that the salt and pepper shakers were reversed as to their contents...details, where is the attention to detail? read more

Food is ok. I ordered the black and bleu petite salad, dressing and bleu cheese on the side. My salad was tossed in the dressing and the bleu cheese was sprinkled all over. I ate most of it (after moving all cheese) but there was SO much rosemary it was very overpowering. And yes, why bother ordering a bleu cheese salad if you don't like bleu cheese...because everything else sounded so good (steak, dried cherries, pickled onions)....pickled onions weren't very pickled, I wouldn't get it again. This place is adorable and what brought me and my friends in is the ease of making a reservation and also the fact that they have weekday brunch! I ordered the avocado toast and requested smoked salmon on top, I love that they were happy to accommodate! It was delicious! I also ordered the spiced Bloody Mary with their horseradish infused vodka. I don't typically drink liquor, but this sounded good and I was right - it was delicious! It was not too spicy either in case you're a wimp like me - I could handle it so I think anyone could. The flavors were so good. I forgot to take photos, but the presentation was also beautiful. The service was so friendly, but it was a little slow. It really seemed like it was a 1 man show today, perhaps that was the case. I visited Hearth as part of a Yelp Elite Event. I have eaten at Trellis (this location's predecessor) several times and was looking forward to this introduction. Overall, I'm very pleased with the new restaurant, a bit more casual and relaxed. I would like to see more veggie and/or seafood items added to the menu in the future. All the cooked foods were delicious. At the event, we were offered small bites of items on their regular menu and their rotating menu. Officially, the menu is unique daily, though items like their flatbreads are regular. My favorite bites: - A melt-in-your-mouth crab bite (see photo). The cheese is a bit heavy but I taste the crab anyway. - The Duck flatbread with the unique apricot spread (see photo) - The Forage flatbread (no photo) with its potent mushroom flavors - A Pork Belly Bacon (no photo) with an apple butter topping that was a surprising combination and completely tasty - A Bison Meatball, which is served as a meatloaf in their regular menu, done with wild mushrooms, spring peas, and carrot reduction Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the dinner dishes I sampled. The only item that was below bar is the stone fruit dessert that didn't have much flavors. Possibly the fruits weren't ripe enough; typically cooking fruit draws out the sweetness spectacularly but not this time. Doesn't matter to me though; there is plenty to enjoy. I was stuffed! Definitely splurge on a drink. They source some unique mixes. Because I'm non-alcoholic, the GM made a mocktail with non-alcoholic bitters that was pretty and tasty. The staff was attentive. TDLR: the beer can chicken is juicy! This place is connected to the lobby of a hotel. Street parking. The decor is pretty minimal but I do have to applaud their alternating cup colors at each table. It's a great way to tell which cup is yours or not. Clever. The salt jar is pretty neat too. Paper menu with some descriptions. They don't have a whole lot since each thing is made to order. Service: wait to be seated, order at the table, you will water yourself with a nifty glass carton, your leftovers will be boxed for you, check brought to you. The restaurant is under ownership again! In terms of covid this place is amazing! Even when it is cold they have vast amounts of outdoor heaters that keeps their patio warm. They have lots of space in between each seat inside. The menu is a bit more simple... also a bit less expensive. I got the farmers breakfast plate. Every piece was super yummy, it was just deconstructed and I personally don't think I did a great job at reconstructing it. I'll be back. I'll probably get something else. I feel that even in the face of the pandemic that these guys don't get it. The hostess and waitresses act as if it's a burden to serve you. I would think it would be the opposite as people come in to dine. Slow service and bad attitudes seem to be their go to disposition. The only bright spot is Victor behind the bar. The Hearth - so happy with our outside dining there! For many reasons, I've opted for outside dining the last couple of years. As you can well imagine, that is quite the challenge in the PNW. I've got some surgery coming up so I'm being extra vigilant right now. I called the Hearth in downtown Kirkland yesterday to make Sunday brunch reservations and explained we wanted to eat outside. They were LOVELY. We got there and were positioned under an infrared heater, with propane heaters at either end of the table. (There were 5 of us) and they had blankets too, if we had wanted them. THEY HAD TURNED THE HEATERS ON EARLY TO WARM OUR SPOT! As it was, we were all perfectly comfortable just in our sweaters. It was bliss And the food was fabulous. The best I've had in a long time. We all had different choices- beignets, egg scrambles, omelets, the BEST Eggs Benedict. The service was considerate and friendly, with no forgotten items or delays. If you prefer eating outside but find it hard to do around here (which is to be expected) check out their website and their menu. I'm very happy to have found a place we can depend on when it's time for a family gathering. If I sound over enthusiastic, please forgive me. In three years it's the first time I've found warmth, excellent food, and friendly service all in one place. I'm hoping to put the word out so they continue to offer this lovely option. read more

Wandered for a quick Sunday brunch and got seated inside immediately. They asked for vaccine cards and followed protocol which was a plus. We got the mushroom skillet and denver omelette which were both good. If you are a fan of mushrooms, I highly recommend the skillet. We gave this place a try for brunch. First red flag it was pretty empty. Then the couple next to us left with about 3/4 of their food remaining. But the menu looked good and we decided to give it a chance. The drinks were good (they make their own bloody mix). And that's where the good ended. Despite the lack of customers our food took forever. When it arrived my eggs were cold with the inner yolk all coagulated. The bread was either toasted and then cool for so long that it was firm and chewy or it was stale. My partners food (burger) was "okay" but nothing special. At least it was warm. The main issue is that our waiter never came back to check in so we weren't able to tell them the issue until they retuned for the check. If you look at recent reviews, it seems service is an issue. There are so many breakfast and brunch places around - I'd skip this one. read more

I came for dinner on Thursday night with a group of friends. Our server's name was Jason and he was awesome! I think he might have been a manager. He was fun, had a good sense of humor, and really helped make it a great night for us. Wine by the bottle was 1/2 off. The pizzas were big enough for 2 people to share. A great brunch spot in downtown Kirkland. I'd recommend making a reservation since the space is shared with the hotel guests coming to eat their breakfast as well. I tried the fried chicken biscuit. So I tasted it and so did my significant other it and it tasted like lamb so we ask server about it. He took it back to kitchen and brought it back out. And said yes this was duck since lamb had bone. It was mediocre and didn't want to hold up the party but looking it up after leaving the restaurant, the "duck" dish that had the pomegranate pieces and kabocha squash that matched the lamb sides vs cabbage and bread pudding for the duck.
