And what makes it one of the very best, is the owner, Chakib, who I've had the pleasure and the honour to know for four decades now, and who is the single most knowledgeable person I have ever encountered, in terms of health. As a Master Herbalist, ranked number one in North America, and number three in the world, and a pharmacist, his knowledge of truly holistic health is unsurpassed. And he cheerily works regularly in his store, not for the money - royalties from the natural medicine products which he designs, take care of that - but for the sake of being there in person, to give free health advice to the people. His normal billing rate being out of reach of most people, at $500 an hour, he offers his expert knowledge for free. What a gem of a person. What a gem of a store. The Main Ingredient is one of my first choices for bulk buying…read more They stock a nice selection of many items, and I often purchase teas, dairy, baking products, tempeh, chocolate and snack/power foods here as well as household cleaning products. I do tend to avoid purchasing nuts here as I have been dissatisfied with quality in the past.
