Physical Therapy Associates of Mercer County is my "Go-To" practice anytime I need PT. I have been…read morea patient of John Beidler's off and on for about 15 years for treatment of various injuries. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional, and he takes the time to research additional methods of treatment if what he's doing doesn't yield the results he expects. During the times I've been in physical therapy, I have watched John work with patients of all ages as well as various types of injuries and health conditions/disabilities. He has always been thoughtful of his patients' needs and courteous in his interactions with them. It is surprising to see a negative review as I have never witnessed any of the issues that were noted in that review. Speaking from not only my personal experience with John, but also from what I've witnessed in his treatment of others, he consistently assigns exercises in sets of ten and increases those sets as the patient progresses. Even toward the end of my treatment, I have never been asked to do 50 reps of any exercise, which makes me think there was some misunderstanding on the part of that patient. John and his entire office staff is friendly, caring and professional, which is why I recommend Physical Therapy Associates to friends and family and will continue to visit them for my own physical therapy needs.

Anyone with physical limitations should be very careful about using this practice. I am elderly and handicapped. Due to my medical condition, I also suffer from exhaustion. I left my first appointment with a list of exercises to do at home. These were the same things we did at the appointment, but the repetitions had been increased - one even went from 20 to 50 reps. As I am unstable on my feet, and have fallen twice last year, I have been cautioned by my physician to avoid any activity that would make more vulnerable to falls. This was all discussed with the therapist when I provided a full and comprehensive medical history. The day after my appointment, I noticed stiffness in my legs. When I tried to do the exercises at home, I found them to be exhausting and too difficult to complete, so I only did as many as I comfortably could. When I went back, I asked to discuss this with the therapist. I found his reaction to be abrupt and dogmatic. He informed me that this was his treatment, and if I was not willing to do exactly what he assigned I should seek help elsewhere. I mentioned that one of the exercises had increased to 50 reps. His arrogant response was that he would NEVER assign that many repetitions. (Later that day, I brought him a copy of his original hand written assignment which confirmed what I said). I asked if he had treated many handicapped people. With an air of arrogance, he assured me that he certainly had. But I think this is not accurate since the only other people I saw there were young - even teenagers - and all appeared fit and recovering from injuries.. I am on Medicare, and I also told him that my greatest concern was that they would not cover the cost of a second initial evaluation. He told me that the charge had already been submitted to Medicare that morning. When I called Medicare, they said they had not received it, but I could call again in a few days. His demeanor was uncompromising and far too rigid for any medical provider. Everyone should be very cautious about using this agency.
