Zero stars! Doug is a scam artist. He takes your items on consignment and sells them and doesn't pay you. It has been over a year since I gave my mother in law's house items to him and he has not paid me a penny. He dodges call and is staff will say they can't talk to you that you have to talk to Doug. You won't hear from him. If you do he will say he will mail you a check and it will never come. He has been reported to the Board of Auctioneers and his license is not renewed. I am one of many with claims and lawsuits pending. Do NOT give your items or your loved ones items to this company. Shameless people! read more

Was a customer of Hays Auction for almost 20 years, as both a buyer and seller. Took some items to Hays to sell in May 2024. According to longtime Hays employee, my items were sold. However, Doug has never provided the proceeds to me for the items that he auctioned off, despite repeated phone calls and inquiries on the same. Doug's conduct reflects blatant dishonesty and I do not recommend Doug nor his business to anyone, unless you want to be scammed or ripped-off. I unfortunately agree 100% with other negative reviews. Hays has had our auction items for 9 months - a household full from my elderly father's estate - and will not return calls or emails, nor have they provided any update on the sale of our items. Needless to say, they have not provided any payment, either. I am now seeking legal recourse. read more

The auction house have had our many items since September, 2023 - will not return our calls - upon our visits to the business clerks give us vague answers with we will "give Doug your message" - no monetary payment and no information on where our items are! SCAMMERS!!!!!!!Less then zero!!!!!!!This auction house is a scam!! Doug one of the owners took 4 pieces of my mothers furniture. They were in top condition antiques pieces. He took advantage of my mother who has dementia and stole her pieces and sold them and kelpt the money for himself and his family members. Eighteen years ago I brought in a piece of beautiful carnival glass - tall pitcher with stemmed glasses. Hays estimated it to be worth $250.00 and recommended that I place a reserve on the price. I signed off on the paperwork, thinking they were looking out for my interest. I was so wrong. I repeatedly called and was either hung up on or told Mr. Hays was not there. I finally went in. I was handed a check for $10.00. I was extremely upset over the fact that the piece had a reserve on it and it should not have been sold. I questioned their methods. From that day forward, I have not and will not recommend Hays auction for buying or selling any merchandise. When I read how they did that elderly lady with dementia, shame on them. They need an "ETHICS" check. Honestly, If I did not have to click at least one star to post this review, I would not even give them that. Ms. Leigh, I would call the Attorney Generals Office or the Inspector Generals Office to see if they can help your family with what is due. read more

We rented a U-Haul trailer from here pretty last minute to move a motorcycle and they were well stocked and accommodating! Doug, the owner of the auction house, was incredibly kind and informative when it came to helping us hook up the trailer to our car, offering tips and advice, and was super flexible with our last minute situation. We really appreciate his knowledge and business sense and next time we need anything from U-Haul, we will for sure come back to Hays! read more

Rating less than zero. Do not trust!!!! We, as a family, decided to have items sold at an auction from my mom's estate. We chose Hays. We saw the items sold. It has been 3 months and we have called over and over, asking for a return call. Nothing. Brother went to see him in person. He hurt his ankle he said. He said the check will be sent within a couple of days. That's been over a month. But he won't give us the money. My impression is that he's dishonest. And I would not recommend him to anyone. Like any auction experience-- pricing is wildly unpredictable swinging from fantastic bargains to "I can't believe they paid that!" minute by minute. read more

We had them auction off an estate. They told us it would take 2 weeks. It took nearly 2 months. They took over $3000 worth of antiques and collectibles. After numerous calls.
