This place has zero respect for their longtime customers and take absolutely no accountability for their promises. The Detroit Lions group has been coming here for over 5 years, and even met with management prior to this season to iron out some of the problems we've had continually. Haymaker makes promises to improve the relationship with our group. In my opinion it was blatant lies to keep the business of our group. Today we show up and all of our reserved space is completely full with people watching soccer. Haymaker didn't even bother to communicate with our group to let them know we would not have our space. At least last year when they did this to our group on numerous occasions we could go to the overflow room....today we were outside in the sun watching on a small tv with the glare of the sun. Although it is not one of the top places on my list, it is one of the places that I frequent in a quiet plan with friends, so I share some tips: If there is not enough space in the parking lot, definitely check the neighborhood signs to avoid a bad experience or disturb the neighbors. Although there is plenty room inside & outside and you will probably find a table to sit down, there are days and times that are very popular that you have to have a little more patience, although I always recommend ordering drinks while you wait for a table to be free. Always check the specials, although they are usually somewhat constant, there are times that a drink or food is only found for a limited time. If you like margaritas and beers you definitely have to go on Friday and try the Beerrita special! The food is not something that will surprise you but it does leave a good taste in your mouth, especially some of its most popular options such as the Haymaker Sandwich, although if you are not very hungry with some wings or pretzel bites and their drinks it is more than enough . The service is always friendly and attentive although on busy days the wait is longer. I dropped by while my wife was out of town for some comfort food. The poutine really hot the spot, and I ordered a roast beef Italian sausage hoagie to go. Service was awesome, and there's a really nice tap beer selection here. It's kind of dark, but in a warm, homey way like a pub. There are 2 sections sort of with tv's and seating and such for sports to one side and pool tables on the other. I'd come here again without thought anytime in the winter. We came here to watch football on Sunday and it was packed by noon, but service remained attentive which is always great! We ordered the Haymaker which is probably better shared between two people. Very interesting combination of food for sure (Texas toast, coleslaw, cheese, tomato, egg, French fries) but still pretty good. Roast beef was a bit dry though womp womp. This was my second time at Haymaker. I am 99.9999% positive I ordered the exact same thing as my first visit....and it didn't disappoint! I highly recommend the combo hoagie Italian sausage and beef sandwich. And the house made chips are AWESOME! They are just like Buc-ee's, if you are familiar with those. They are open for dine-in (thank God!!!). They have a great beer list, upscale pub food, and very friendly staff. The place has a pretty cool vibe as well. Been here a couple of times pre covid and once fairly recently. Their outdoor space is a great spot to hang out and watch a game with plenty of tvs and well spaced out tables. They have reopened for indoor dining but when I went in to use the bathroom the space between fairly crowded tables was definitely too close for comfort. In terms of food they have a pretty nice variety of out there sandwich/burger options along with typical bar fare. While I appreciate the variety I've found most of the food I've tried to be okay at best. Most recently I've tried the wings and Italian hoagie. The wings were super bready and the sauces weren't very flavorful. The roast beef and sausage on the hoagie were also both fairly bland. They have some pretty solid drink specials (when I last went on a Tuesday all Texas beers were 3$) and compared to similar spots they have a really wide selection of options. Overall, I think the vibe here is great and the drink deals are hard to beat. But between the less than stellar food and questionable crowd control I can't say I'd recommend coming by in the near future. read more

At first I thought there was barely any cheese but I sound more berried under the fries. The beef sandwich was a disaster. The menu states "doused and in beef au jus". The sandwich could not have been any drier. Beef jerky is more moist. The menu also says it included grilled onions. My sandwich featured chunks of raw onions. My server was in training, so I don't fault her for bringing the wrong check. I did have to ask for drink refills three times, each time my cup was empty for a long time. This review is mainly for the service. I like that this local spot was down the street from where I'm staying. Coming from dinner, I thought my wife and I could get a QUICK night cap before heading home. On a Sunday night about about 945pm, there was plenty of parking. We walked in and grabbed some seats inside the bar. Promptly a server came and talked to us and dropped off some menu's. We didn't see her for again for a minimum 10-15 min. After we flagged another waitress to grab our server, we finally got our drink orders taken. We make an order (1 can of cider and 1 Burnt Orange old fashion) and at this point another 10-15 min goes by without our drinks. When drinks do arrive, they come at separate times with separate servers. Since I didn't want to risk waiting another 10-15 minutes to wait for our original server to come and check on us, I decided to ask for the check. (Which came promptly, by the way). Not sure if the server was just having a bad day or what was going on. If service is this slow on a Sunday night when more than half the bar is empty, I'd hate to see what it's like during busy times. read more

I absolutely love the culture of the Haymaker. The staff holds a bond that many service industries are missing these days. The best bartender is Tristen and I love visiting her. This is a place to both eat and drink but I must say that the drinking specials are incredible. My most recent visit was to watch a professional ultimate frisbee game and we had half of the Haymaker reserved. The attention from the servers was incredible! I never had a moment when I waited over 3 minutes for a drink even though the place was incredibly packed. The water situation is a little awkward but it got me on my toes. I ordered the cuban pressed burger, and boy, did it open up my world to what a burger can be. The place looked pretty cool so we weren't all that upset about the pool table. We got seated right away and it was very much a bar setting, for those who couldn't tell. The service was honestly not great. Out waiter seemed very impatient and just ready to get off the clock. When asking about the size of the food the waiter over represented the food and it turned out really small. I've been coming to this place for about a year now, but tonight was awful service (not the food, just the service). I came today for Sunday games with my group of 4 people and we have terrific server during the day, Samantha. When we had the shift change, we received the most non-expressive and seemed like he was down right miserable server after lovely Samantha. Don't get me wrong, food and drinks came out wonderfully, but this man didn't even say "hello" to us. He said "drinks?" I saw a few servers eating Patrizi's pasta at this place too so I went to grab some while my friends were eating food from the restraunt, a man comes up to the table and say "no outside food. put it up." he could've said it in a nicer way or better tone. I put it up, but man it doesn't hurt to be a bit nicer. I want to give a huge shoutout to Nathan Campbell though for being just a nice human being. This is a good sports bar hang, but the pours are inconsistent. When I ask for, and pay for doubles, I expect to receive doubles. Not this. 1.3oz at best. Frustrating considering drinks are a bit pricey and I am not egetting what I paid for. Gave this place another shot. Went to close my wife's tab so I could start one, as we share drink costs equally. The shorter, female bartender was SO rude about it. She said, verbatim, "are you SURE you're gonna close out, or are you just gonna come back and reopen 10 minutes later like always?" I was taken aback because you don't speak to customers like this. Extremely inappropriate. I was planning on closing my wife's tab and spending about $40 more on my own tab -- but looks like I won't be back now. Keep your bartender's attitude in check, maybe reach out to customers with poor experiences instead of ignoring them and I'll consider coming back. On the whole I was sadly a bit disappointed in the quality of food and experience at Haymaker. On the experience, their mobile web UI is very dated and not fully functional: we ordered online for in-restaurant pickup, and never received a confirmation via phone or email that our order had been placed. After waiting some time, I went inside to check on our order status, and they indicated it had not been received. Slightly inconvenienced, I placed the same order again in person. A few minutes later, the server let me know that the web order had, in fact, come through, and that they were producing one order and a separate, duplicate order. I asked them to cancel the original order placed through their mobile website, but their system does not allow for reversal of web orders. I had the in-person order reversed, having encountered friction while attempting to simply place an order at several steps along the way. On the food, their grilled chicken sandwich was substandard quality at best. The meat was rubbery, and the secondary ingredients (lettuce, tomato, pickles, bun) were of pretty transparently low quality. I'm open to giving it another shot, but the first-time experience was, all things considered, an unfortunate one. read more

If I go back to play Shuffleboard I might try the food. However I would not return specifically for a drink.
