After my experience I felt taken advantage of. I spoke to Ms. Remy prior to filing for divorce and…read moreinformed her that my wife was not going to be seeking any alimony or any of my assets. The very next thing she told me was that it would be in my best interest to go with a flat fee over a billable hour payment scheme. The flat fee was quite large but I was not really in a state of mind to question it. Everything went through fine without any need to go to court after our six month separation. Many months later her office (quite accidentally) sent me an invoice for a little over $700. This covered a filing fee and 3.25 hours of work. When I sent her an angry email, she informed me that it was a mistake and to not worry about it. My biggest problem is that had I not agreed to the flat fee, which was supposedly in my best interest, the ~$700 was ALL that I would've had to pay. The flat fee was almost five times as much, or around $1,000 an hour. She may or may not be a fine lawyer, but keep your own counsel when it comes to your billing decisions.

When faced with pursuing an eviction on some family land, I had heard of Mr. Macaluso's fine…read morereputation as an honest and experienced attorney. From the first meeting, he confirmed his integrity and absolutely floored me with his extensive knowledge and how to approach the situation for the best result. He communicated well, was aggressive, informed me well in advance of possible actions the defendant might choose and the impact on my case and was more than fair in his cost analysis of what it would take to win. Not only did we win the suit, but the defendant dismissed a frivolous lien he placed against the property. He even followed up to make sure I was satisfied with the results. This type of professionalism and guardianship of a client's best interest is rare in the legal industry. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Macaluso, his skills and his honesty.

Ignored me and my wife for months up until the day before court where…read moreshe didn't turn in almost two years of evidence that was collected by me and my spouse that was detrimental to our case. She even had her assistant hang up on us three days before court. She entered in evidence that we had to demand the day before court since she refused to do so by the due date given. It was a complete embarrassment going to court with her. She was speechless in many accounts when the opposing lawyer asked for the evidence backing our claims. Do not hire this lawyer. She even claimed when me and my wife had our appointment the day before court that hearsay would be allowed because it was family custody court. Over two years of giving this woman money and us building our case she sent in maybe 5 screenshots that did not show the abuse we had proof of. She told us video proof we had was irrelevant because she did not want to watch any of the videos we sent. She just took our money and did almost no work for it.

There is no excuse for a basic tax meeting to last 4 hours and for you to tell me your grandparents history. My second complaint is that his personal values seemed to interfere with his client interaction. He was clearly uncomfortable with non-traditional families and made it apparent with long sighs and apologies for how we live our lives. My third complaint is that although he was given documents in February, he waited until the 11th hour to actually file the taxes. I was on the phone with him for hours the night of the submission. This is very disrespectful for people with demanding jobs. My final complaint is that he has yet to return our original documents and a complaint has been filed with the IRS. I cannot recommend this service.
