Our experience with Haven Hospice Center-Orange Park was deeply disappointing, especially due to the behavior of the night shift nurse. From the moment she arrived, it was clear she lacked compassion and professionalism. She would administer medications with no effort to speak to the patient or family, often moving through the process as if it were a chore. When we had questions, she acted visibly annoyed, making us feel as though we were a burden. Her demeanor was cold, and she walked around with a sour expression, never offering a reassuring word or a simple smile during such a challenging time for our family. The lack of empathy was disheartening and unacceptable, especially in a hospice setting where care and kindness should be a priority. My hope is that the hospice center takes this feedback seriously and addresses the behavior of their staff to ensure no other family has to endure such treatment during an already difficult time. Families in these situations deserve support, compassion, and understanding--not rudeness and indifference. Our beautiful mother passed early yesterday morning after 5 days of care at Haven. My brother and I were able to be there with her the whole time. The care that she received was top notch. They immediately responded each time we requested additional meds to keep her comfortable when she seemed restless. They provided updates to us in a kind manner and were honest each time. Every nurse, CNA, and NP had amazing bedside manner. One nurse that completely stood out to us was Kayla. She was so sweet, understanding and sympathetic to our mother and to us. The facility is very clean and doesn't have a hospital feel. The sitting areas are a big relief when you need to take a moment. Haven was a blessing to us when we needed the higher level of care for our mother. read more

I hate to post this review but my grandfather(96) was in here for 2 1/2 days before he passed. The first day he was there he was coherent and joking, the next day he was less than coherent and almost comatose. The next day he passed. When ever i visited the staff was friendly and my grandfather seemed at peace - thats what really mattered to me. He had a disease that was going to take him quickly. We had 17 visitors every day in the hospital and it carried on to hospice. I thought the staff was more than accommodating. Everyone was friendly and seemed to make my grandfather and family as comfortable as possible. I personally would like to thank them for the short stay he had on behalf of my family and myself. read more

My husband was only in the facility for 2-1/2 short days before he passed away. My reason for the 2 stars is upon arrival I was very uncomfortable with how he was treated. Now granted, it was at 10 pm, but that should not matter. I even ended up calling my oldest to come as I was thinking I was going to carry him out of there by myself (he had to come via ambulance transport). When we arrived they put him in a room, and immediately told me to leave. I asked why and they said they were going to bathe him and put him in a gown. I said I would prefer to stay. My husband was alert and verbal at this time, although difficult to understand unless you listened carefully. I tried to explain to them that he had bone cancer and muscle cancer and it was very painful for him to be moved around so much. They didn't seem to care. They bounced him from one side to the other. It appeared to me that they only cared about getting it done as fast as possible. Also, never ONCE upon arrival did either of the people in the room speak to him or call him by name. Again, he was awake and aware of everything going on. He even apologized that he couldn't move fast enough for them to get the pad underneath him. They also put him in an adult diaper, which he was not incontinent and made him very ashamed and self-conscious. Finally when we were left alone we were able to talk to the nurse on duty and get some pain meds, which is why we were there in the first place as we could not manage his pain at home. Instead of handling the pain first, it seemed he had to have a bath, even though he had been bathed earlier in the day. I will say the day shift were much more in tune and more genuine in their concern for his pain level. Although I do think he was kept over-medicated as he was trying to spend time with his family and be able to talk to them as we all knew the end was near. But we also did not want him in pain, so it's hard to say if it was too much. I will say that the one shining moment was the social worker or counselor (I don't remember her exact title). Ms. V. She was wonderful. She came and spoke to me, and then she spoke to my teenager. My teen loved her and felt she could express her feelings to her, so I'm hoping we can go back for the counseling they offer to Hospice families. It is a beautiful facility and there is space for you to have your family together. I just didn't feel my husband was given much dignity in his final hours on this earth and that will haunt me. read more

Hopefully you will not need these kind of services but if you do this is the one. They were quick to assist and there residence on Blanding is like arriving at a resort. It's was beautiful and peaceful. It allowed us time together before our loved one departed.They care for the family's needs also as in staying overnight and bathing. They have kitchen areas for your food items and a play area for kids. They even allow pets to visit. There are zin areas for meditation like gardens and open areas. We were no there long but our memory we always be wonderful of having all our famiky together to send off my parent in our own way. read more

I put a Complaint in with the state! Pretty place however my father went there for out patient meds, Wasn't ill enough to stay, only to stay a few days third day I brought my dad soup he sat up talking joking , walking, looking at family pictures , he was upset hadnt gotten new towels able to wash, wanted to go home. Everytime he was asleep they skip his meal so I'd bring him food,he had Dementia , that night said bye, I go back the next day my Dad was out cold had a Catheter I asked what happened to my dad! First nurse your father got water on the floor trying to wash , found out they gave him NOT morphine, Methadone! Adivan sleeping pills that night they more then doubled his meds!!!! Next day I call director who nice talked did nothing didn't see his face,nurse that night said we. Doubled his meds because he went in the laundry room excuse#2 they shot him up with two shots not awake not moaning in pain shots over over over, no water !!!no food , no feeding tube nothing. Went on few days nurse listen to me my mother daughter though speaker on bed , last night nurse says might want tell siblings few days he'll be gone part process commonly used terms, night nurse sat on computer all night not checking on him ever , literally ten minutes later two nurses walk in with two needles again ! Come out say your dad going to die in few minutes what do you know he looks like he tightened like a heartattack his breathing stayed the same whole time Until they shot him up! He died in front of me my mother husband kids we watched them expedite his death, play god! No one gave this nurse ok to more then double his meds, #3rd excuse, I found in his records ,He Was actually Looking for his Wife and daughter! They didn't want him walking around , they DIDNT try to call my mother or I to come there help or ask if they can double his meds, so that's why he was given that amount of methadone and other meds! To knock him out!They put in the Pamphlet you can stay prey whatever with your passed loved one, we were told two minutes after 11:50 am evening that we need get his stuff now say good bye they'll tag him because orange park has three paients coming they need the room! As we leave in shock! Grief, heartbreak watching what they did, they role another body out. Question ‍all people aren't there for same illness, or at same stage etc so why I ask ?is there NOT one person awake watching tv in a common area?!? God help those left there , I DO NOT think All nurses and Hospices are like this! I know people in this field , good people, with that said there IS something is wrong here Not being supervised or understaffed i don't know ! My fathers dr was speechless that he died and how this happened ! I will do my part to help the Others . I got his records sent to me have the proof!
