I would like to say from the very start that I am casting no aspersions on the competence of the…read moremedical staff at this doctor's surgery. Indeed, I'd struggle to do so, since I now avoid going to the doctor's full stop, such is my loathing of this surgery. Hampton Medical Centre is home to a large group practice. You are unlikely to see the same doctor twice. In order to keep waiting lists down, they do not take appointments beyond the same day. If you need to visit a doctor, you have to phone first thing on the morning you intend to visit. This is fine for an acute illness, but extremely annoying for chronic conditions. The reception staff have, in my experience, been one step above brain dead, and rude with it. I realise they are paid appallingly, but again, it is hugely off putting. The impression one gets when visiting is that you are wasting their time, and all staff really have things far better to do. Whilst most of the medical staff I have dealt with have been ok, there is one doctor whom I can't stand, and I doubt his abilities - and others I have spoken to have felt the same. The waiting room is large, with the typical health information posters and out of date magazines. There is also a children's play area. The reception staff sit within a square, and often don't seem to notice people walking in. There are a large number of services on offer, as you'd expect from such a big practice. Nevertheless, I now don't go to the doctor. Ever. I should at some point, but won't. I do think it is time to change my practice.

Bad, bad, bad…read more The service is terrible. You never see the same doctor twice. You can't guarantee a decent diagnosis. When I asked about giving up smoking I was told to call the number an the side of a bus!!) The receptionists are not at all helpful and insist on you announcing your problems in front of the whole waiting room. You can't very often get through to them when you need to and by the time you do get through, all of the appointments have gone. Oh yes - and it just feels dirty in there too.

This is in relation to my complaint about Dr Margareta Posse Consultant Psychiatrist. GMC Reference…read moreNumber 4231851 She failed but I finally got the help I needed. I think she is an incompetent, malignant clinician and should retire. My letter below is how you treat people. I was in Lotus Suite for a few days. A luxurious assessment ward with 5 sofa type beds similar to a business class bed. In fact the suite resembled a nice airport departure lounge with access to 2 fridges with sandwiches and frozen Indian meals. Also drinks, breakfast cereals, fruit + snacks. The young team are very friendly, engaging and the highest standard mental health team you could encounter. I felt like I was in an expensive private treatment clinic. Dave is a very experienced senior member that takes his work very serious, genuinely dedicated and passionate about his work. A gentleman of the highest standards. The girls were very friendly and engaging and for a very young team, the best and most professional highly trained and experienced. I could not praise them more. Female psychiatrist Dr O' Brian is warm, composed and understanding. I was sent to Jupiter ward due to bed shortages. Patients have serious complex mental illness and I enjoyed engaging with some of them and discovered some interesting characters. The staff have a lot to deal with and i admire people with qualities to do this intense work and remain detached from the intense and sometimes abusive behaviour. I am not thick skinned but I would love to do this type of work helping people. The menu is good and mealtime is enjoyable and the food and domestic staff are nice and hard working. I love African people which make up a large portion of staff. They have this warmth and smiling positive attitude. Joseph from Togo is a brilliant night shift nurse. He engages with the patients and is funny and playful and I heard some patients say he was their favourite. Leo, Nana and I cant's remember the other names are brilliant. The Greek girl is also very amiable and warm and provides relaxation classes plus other activities. Consultant psychiatrist Dr Dewsnap is a straightforward decent man. He listened to what I had to say and was very cooperative with my suggestions for my treatment plan for chronic anxiety and diazepam overuse. An intense environment due to the nature of the heavily medicated very ill patients which could affect those with less severe problems but for me overall a positive, enlightening experience. I have great empathy for the patients with severe lifelong psychiatric disorders. There is a lot of distress and emotive behaviour due to patients access to go out and smoke a cigarette. I did not have this problem as I was an informal patient and following discharge I have improved and I hope the senior psychologist refers me to a psychologist which she said she will do. I can't remember her name. A pleasant young girl of Northern India background. Overall a positive experience. Thank you.
