The beautiful garden area isn't to be outdone by the cafe's building interior however, which was transformed into a shabby chic haven from a former war bunker. What to order? Always be careful to remember where your friends sit, because you might get lost on your way back from the cake bar or WC. The plum cake is my all-time favorite. The other cakes are delicious and the slices gigantic. A great choice of teas, even for tea experts. The view over the Wadden Sea (tideland) helps to relax. Lots of kids are running through the garden, having a great time. Just as their partens do. With a bit of luck, you will get to see one of the peacocks that strut around. It is always a big surprise for me, as this is one of the last places I'd expect a peacock to hang out.

The ice cream is OK. Nothing spectacular and not necessarily cheap but good. There were some interesting creations in terms of flavour and we enjoyed them but it's nothing better than most ice cream parlours I know here in Hamburg where I live. Nevertheless, it's a nice place to hit up if you're in the mood for something sweet and it's easy to find. I am sure it's swamped in the summer (warmer) months and can't compare it to then. We were the only ones there when we went and we enjoyed it this way. Had some coffee too which was standard and not great. The service was polite and attentive but we had to order at the counter and they brought things to the table. They actually reminded us that when it's busy they wouldn't do this. I have no idea why they wanted us to know this fact as we were the only ones there but I guess it's a zoo when it's high season.
