I really tried to wait until I was not upset anymore before posting a review. Haslet Feed and Farm was recommended by one of our neighbors for having local produce. We've seen it a hundred times when we drove by, but this was the first time we came in. When we entered, we were super excited about all of the really great produce they had. Everything from sauces and preserves to fresh vegetables. There wasn't hardly anyone in there, so we took our masks off as we were just going to keep to ourselves. Mind you this was during the COVID-19 outbreak. No sooner did we take our masks of when we heard this guttural fluid on the lungs coughing fit erupt from toward the back of the store. We immediately put our masks back on and I happened to look back there. Next to an employee that was actively cutting, weighing, and wrapping produce was the young lady, whom I assumed was a customer and certainly not an employee, that was having the cough. Behind the employee, sitting on the stool eating parts of what was being cut up and prepared for sale was another young lady that was wrapped up in a sweater looking like she was fighting off a bender. We decided to make our purchase quickly and leave. What we bought was bottled up (I'm assuming) elsewhere. When we went to check out, the coughing fit girl WAS THE CASHIER. We followed her to check out where she was continuing to make the sniffling sounds. I wouldn't let her touch anything we had to subsequently handle and left. I don't want to make judgements about peoples appearances, but when you represent a business... The cashier looked like she was having a really rough existence and I pray seeks help. I'm just going to leave it at that.
We are very sad about the whole situation. We unfortunately won't be going back and supporting this local business and unfortunately the local producers because of it. Honestly it is because we are afraid. I take immunosuppressants and simply can't risk it. read more
