Living in a small town does not mean that everything is done on a small scale. From the very…read morefirst time I shopped at Himm's Grocery, I knew I didn't have to go out of town to shop for what I need on a daily basis. Having recently moved to the area, Himm's Grocery was an added bonus. Before my move, I had to travel 45 minutes to get half of what I needed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Himm's Grocery carries everything I/you/anyone could need ranging from prepared food to ethnic foods. I have yet to shop at Himm's Grocery when they didn't have exactly what I needed on hand. I was even able to purchase the items so we could make candy apple jelly last week. That's remarkable when you consider what is needed for the recipe. Along with food and household staples, they sell discounted cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, lottery tickets, gas (best price around) and just about anything you can imagine. Basically, if you can imagine it, they probably carry it. There's not many businesses left where a person can go in and be treated like a customer that matters. If they don't have what you need, they will bend over backwards to try to get it. You won't find a friendlier and helpful staff.

I frequently shop here for my dad although there is a Piggly Wiggly in Montezuma I prefer this location. It's clean and it's "deodorized" meaning you don't smell bloody meats. Some grocery stores have that mildew old smell. Not this store. Floors, countertops, and freezers were clean. Freezers and shelves were fully stocked. Mind you this is Easter Weekend so it was busy. Parking lot was full. Cashiers on post and there are 2 self checkout lanes. The Deli was busy. I glanced at the hot bar - fried/baked chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots , biscuits, and banana pudding. Customer service top tier. Cashiers greet you as you walk in and at checkout. The owner was walking around greeting you as he walked by. Very friendly guy sorry I didnt get his name :) Ellaville is a very small town where everybody knows everybody. Friendly people If you're in the area or passing through, stop in.
