TERRIBLE!! Will never use this airport again!! I'm a 68 well spoken, professional, well dressed…read morewoman, and this tiny one airline airport security, made me go thru more of patdown on my entire body, hands in the air, rear and front privates, in public viewing! They held up the entire flight from departure 30 min because of this! It was embarrassing getting on the plane and people looking at me as if I was late, when I was the first person at the airport, excepting the staffers.I ended up losing my iphone at my connecting Newark airport flight, because they tore apart everything so bad, in my luggage that I had no idea where anything was after they tore my bags apart! My phone had fallen out of one of the pockets somewhere at the airport. Fortunately, someone found it & I just got it back. BUT, the 2 weeks it was reported Lost on Find My Phone, in the interim, I had spent $1200 at the Apple Store buying a new one. I have the receipt. They need to replace it, because of this search. Tearing apart my luggage do horrefically like that, and to NOT put everything back as they got it. It cost me a lot of money, time and undue inconvenience and stress!! This should be on the 6:00 news it was so bad!! They treated this 'church girl', like I was an armed robber or a drug dealer. They "said" their alarm was triggered, because I had red beet powder called "Total Beets" in my carry on. They tested it with special colored tiny bottles of "food dye looking" liquids, for drugs & got on their phone to diagnose the results with their higher up. They even scanned my small battery powerbank for my cellphone. They tore apart my very organized carry on AND my paid luggage. It was embarrassing, time wasting and rude. I went thru Newark and Detroit airports on my way to Maine with the EXACT same luggage. No security went off at all. I've travelled to Europe, Africa ISRAEL, Canada ... MANY times. I have lived in the largest border city in our entire country and often crossed daily, (Windsor-Detroit) with the highest level of criminals & terrorists, going thru this border. NEVER have I been treated like this with any border crossing, or airport security in 50 years of driving and flying! I just drove 5,000 miles crossing canada and usa borders; cross Mexico, Canada & USA borders from west coast to east coast.... Not one border police treated me like this & my vehicle was loaded down my healhy nutriments and vitamins. THIS by far, was completely despicable and embarrassing and it makes me want to sue this airport.
The man sitting beside me, told me of the countless times it has happened to him, flying in & out of this tiny airport & this happens to him almost every flight! He said he has seen them do the same thing to another 80 yr old lady and countess others EVERY time he uses this airport. Despicable when they are obvious, ONLY keeping their "stats high" .... This was NOT about any alarm that sounded off, this was ONLY them keeping their searches stat reports, kept at a high level they must meet and report to their boss. Now you know never to use this airport.
Otherwise, everything at the airport, was wonderful. They employees were a delight and super helpful. It was clean and very friendly IF you can get on the plane to get out of Maine: I'll NEVER fly in here again. I despise this airport!!
