The one star is for the cars being clean. We stayed at The Lymm Hotel for a wedding down the road at Statham Lodge. Our receptionist booked with Harrys to take us. The journey was two minutes up the road and cost £3 although no meter was on, are they allowed to do this ?. Anyhow, we were fine with that. As we were getting out of the taxi, we asked the driver if we could book a return, no need to just phone the number and we will come for you was the answer. 10.30pm we phoned for a taxi to take us back to the hotel. We were told the taxi would be with us at 11.15pm, by 11.30, it had not arrived so we phoned again. Taxi is on its way it arrived at 11.45. We set off and the driver said " there is a minimum charge of £8". I asked who had set that price and was told "the operator". I said " we were not told that when we ordered the taxi" It's because we have had to come a long way out, I Phoned the operator as soon as I got in the hotel and he said it wasn't him that told the driver to charge so much and put me on to someone else who said exactly the same so, my question is are taxi drivers allowed to charge what they like ?. If they didn't want our business as it was so far out for them, why did they take us in the first place ? was it because they were quiet early on. I use Taxi's all the time in my home town and I suppose I expect the same service but, to treat customers this way is appalling. I did complain the Lymm Hotel although clearly not their fault but, just so they wont put other residents in that position and use a different company in future. Harry's Taxi's of Warrington. You should be ashamed. I am now contacting Warrington Council to see if what they did is legal read more
