This company does not honor their claim that cleaning is free for the life of the system. Apparently, our gutter cover was not installed properly over the garage a couple of years ago. Leaves and debris are becoming stuck and getting under the cover and into the gutter. We called to schedule a cleaning and were told that there is a $50 "dispatch fee". So much for free, huh? They're obviously a bunch of liars who don't and won't stand behind their product. Based on the number of one star reviews, my advice is to avoid this company like the plague. Update: 11/1/23 Regional Manager called to discuss the comment I left on the Gutter Helmet website. He said he would have someone call to schedule an inspection. Within an hour or so, we received a call from a scheduler and appointment was set up for 11/6/23. We'll see how this goes. I appreciate that the manager at least cares enough to attempt to correct this problem. The manager said that the $50 fee is now being charged because of the cost of doing business going up. Maybe so, but your company made a promise that adjustments would be free for the life of the system. Begin charging new customers the $50, not existing customers who didn't agree to this fee. If I have to pay $50 every time I need you to come out, why did I pay for gutter covers when I can get someone to clean the gutters for that $50 plus another $25? I could have my gutters cleaned for the next 30 years for the $2500 you charged! How about if you buy a car with free oil changes for the life of the car (which is part of the reason you bought the car) and the dealer decides that it's costing them too much and you will now have to pay $50. How understanding would you be, Gutter Helmet? I have nothing against the employees; they seem nice. My problem is with the business. Update 11/11/23 They came out and agreed that there is an issue - also waived the fee. Maybe because they know they can't charge when they said it wouldn't cost us anything. Maybe because I said I'd contact that AG and I'd do everything I could to start a class action lawsuit. We have been scheduled to get our gutters cleaned on 11/13/23. After the $$ I spent with a guarantee that I'd never have to clean my gutters again, this is exactly what should be happening. For now- they're doing what they promised. Another update after 11/13/23. Update: As promised, Gutter Helmet did come out to my house, made some necessary adjustments and cleaned the gutters and waived the $50 "dispatch fee". I have revised my rating to 3 stars because they did ultimately take care of my gutters; however, I shouldn't have had to jump through hoops to have our contract honored. read more

Never would I put this system on again. They left a mess, had to have back for installation issues and then they did such a horrible job that it caused nearly $12k in damage to my roof. DON NOT HIRE!! I only gave 1 star for the 1 employee who went above and beyond to make me whole. He is Dante, one of the installers. This company was absolutely dreadful at completing this job. After receiving my quote in June, I went nearly a month without hearing anything back. I left a message for the estimator, Doug, and he never bothered calling me back. I then had to call the office to find out what the hell was going on. Eventually, they set an appointment. Unfortunately, the first time they came out, they were able to complete the job because they didn't have the proper materials. The company didn't bother reaching out to tell me anything yet again. I called them because I wanted to make sure the money was available in my account when they charged it. My job was rescheduled two or more times due to the weather. I understand they can't control the weather. However, they can control how they communicate with their customers. Finally, Dante shows up to my house for the install. As I asked him to do, he called when he was on his way and when he was finished (I wasn't home). Unfortunately and to no fault of his own, he was unable to complete the job because the installers who showed up on previous occasions, failed to put a note in the system that I needed a modified install. Thankfully, Dante explained to me what was going on and I understood. Communication is key. He advised he would reschedule for the following week and would let me know when and he did. He called when he was on the way to my house. He showed up and did what he had to do and after a 2 months process, it's finally complete. Thanks for Dante making some aspect of this experience decent. He was my saving grace. When running a business, communication is key and this company fails to communicate in an effective manner. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The initial contact, quote/estimate, and installation were fine. I asked for an assessment on if we needed some gutters replaced and they said no, everything was fine and did the installation. We started having a leaking issue shortly after the gutter helmets were installed. They came back and looked at a couple of things and said it was fine. I called and asked them to come back out to asses, in case the helmets needed to be removed first so we could make repairs. I got someone out who told me we did in fact need gutter repairs and several other things and that their office would call. I finally got on the schedule, and someone did show and said that we needed other things too, and they would get us back on the schedule. We were scheduled for this week, and someone called to move our appt up to Friday last week. And no one showed. I have called every day this week and have not gotten a call back, or have gotten a "we'll get a ticket in" for you - with no responses. Absolutely absurd that this is still an issue. read more

When I called a few months ago for a cleaning of built up pine needles, they told me cleaning is no longer "free" (even though they are contractually obligated.) I don't like the bait and switch. This is the worst money we have ever spent. They DO NOT work. Ours require cleaning about 4 times a year - despite the whole sales pitch claiming you will never have to clean your gutters again. We have to call, schedule and wait weeks for them to come out. When they are clogged the overflow has caused out window wells to flood. Our gardens have been ruined. Gutter Helmet, Montgomery County Maryland: UPDATE: 07/29/2023, One month later, and NO contact from the company as they stated in their reply. Must be one hell of an "investigation" they are conducting. More evidence they only care about getting your thousands of dollars up front and could not care less about service/maintenance thereafter. BUYERS BEWARE!! Poor performing product, unprofessional servicing after the sale. We've owned GH for over 10 years. 1) Anytime it snows enough to accumulate on the roof then melts and refreezes overnight we get icicles up to 3 feet long hanging down the length of the gutters. The first time this happened I called the company and they said that was normal and that it's evidence we weren't experiencing ice damming. The small space between the GH and the gutter becomes covered in ice, thereby preventing water from entering the gutter. Makes a slick, unsafe mess on our front porch and back door landing. Brilliant engineering. Anytime I see a house with icicles hanging off the gutters, I know they have been afflicted with the same product. 2) If you ever need a new roof, the product needs to be removed and reattached by GH. Our rambler, 90 total feet of gutters, would cost over $800 for this "service." 3) Dirt and debris build up over time on the metal ridges requiring cleaning. The small space where the water is supposed to enter the gutter becomes blocked so be prepared for ongoing maintenance. (There are several informative videos on GH failures on YouTube by the way.) If I had known all these points of failure, I would never have wasted money purchasing it. Way more cost effective to hire someone to clean the gutters when needed. On June 9th I had an appointment with the Quality Control Manager, Chris Lenhart. He gave me a verbal estimate of $280 to remove the product only and $850 to remove and replace. I called him later that day to request removal only (as I'm tired of dealing with this mess) and left a voicemail. Didn't hear from him by the 12th when I called back and his out of office message said he would be back on the 19th and would return all messages. He never called back on the 19th, so I left a 2nd message on the 20th. No call back but I did manage to reach him the next day when he said I needed to sign the contract he emailed on the 9th. I advised we never received the email and he said he would send that night. Note he never said he would be sending an email with a contract when we met. To date we have not received the contract. Lenhart has ignored follow up texts and emails. Very unprofessional. If they don't want my business, just say so but to never respond shows a lack of integrity. Interesting read of the Better Business Bureau complaints. Bottom line, avoid Gutter Helmet. There are other options out there, or as one pro told me, the best gutter cover is NO gutter cover. I have had gutter helmet for about 10 years. The gutters clog constantly and then overflow. Recently I noticed water stains on the ceiling of my living room as a result of the gutters clogging again. I called to have them cleaned and now I am being charged a $50 service fee which is ridiculous since the gutter helmets were supposed to have a lifetime warranty. To top it off they said they couldn't dispatch someone to clean the gutters for 2-3 weeks. I paid a lot of money to save my husband from having to clean the gutters and they never work. At least twice they claimed the gutter was bad and then charged me to replace the gutter. Never use this company because they are full of lies. It seems everyone has something to sell and beyond the actual product and more importantly is the customer service. I can't say enough about the positive experience and "can do" attitude of the employees. When you're investing in your home you want quality for the money you spent and a team of professionals to service anything should the need arise. I've had my system for about 10 years and finally decided to have them inspected to make sure they are functioning properly. Justin and Kyle fixed the problem on 8/2/2022. They were right on time and very professional. My gutter was filled with debris, Gutter Helmet wouldn't honor the warranty, and they wanted $4,644 to fix it. I called Gutter Helmet because a gutter was filled with debris. A man came out and asked questions. But they weren't about what was wrong so he could fix it, he seemed more like he was fishing around for someone to blame. When I told him we had the roof replaced he immediately jumped on that and said the roofer may have damaged the gutter helmet. When he was up on the top I thought he might come down and blame everything on the roofer. That is exactly what he did. A roof needs replaced every twenty or thirty years, that's routine maintenance. If Gutter Helmet is so fragile that there is thousands of dollars of damage from routine maintenance it is a bad product. I asked the man if they would just clean my gutter and he refused. I'll never buy Gutter Helmet again and I will never recommend it. read more

I had Harry Helmet install HEAT HELMET at our home 2 years ago. Last year, it didn't snow! Yesterday was the first snow of the year. 5 inches here. The snow melts off our roof. REALLY fast. This causes ice jams and icicles...and expensive damage to the inside walls of the house. By 3:30 in the afternoon ALL of the snow had melted off my roof. It's a Cape Cod, and although we have tried repeatedly to have the roof insulated and properly vented, we continue to have heat leaking under the roof. The solution, we are told, is to have the entire roof removed and re-engineered. Not going to happen. We installed Heat Helmet and hoped it would solve the problem. When we went outside at 9:00 a.m. to shovel and chop ice, I could hear the water gushing out of the downspouts. Sure enough, the snow was melting rapidly into the CLEAR AND WARM gutters. Another update to increase my rating yet another star (the most possible now)! Two things have happened since my last update. First, we had the bad luck of a huge branch falling on and damaging two spans of our Helmets. While this obviously had to come out of our own pockets, the price wasn't as bad as I feared. The install was done asap and the guy who arrived was very friendly and helpful. Second, we're having Helmets installed on one of our rental properties today (during this horrible heat wave!) and I was so happy to learn that because we're already customers, we got a nice discount for this 2nd job. I have been having issues with this rental's gutters and now that it will have Gutter Helmet, I will have much much less headache. I'm still very happy with their service. They always remind me that they will come out and help if I need something and will clean the gutters if I feel debris is getting in there. They have been amazing. Thank you so much. We are the second homeowner, so the Lifetime warranty came with the house. First, the role of national and the local office is unclear. Very confusing, and everyone passes the buck. Therefore it took forever for the "new homeowner" evaluation to happen. Trying to get it scheduled was very difficult. When the inspector came out to do the warranty inspection, we passed, and he said the office would call me "within 3 weeks" to schedule the actual service repair for the gutters. When a month went by and no call, I called to schedule. The office vaguely said the week of the 19th. I asked how would I know, and he said someone would call the day before. No call, so when I called on the 19th, they "escalated" me to the manager who said how about the Wednesday the 21st. The 21st came, and went - no one shows up. A no show, no call. The 22nd, Thursday I call the office very angry. Seven times. One time a staff person told me the manager was "working at home" and would not be in the office until much later. Apparently he has no contact with his office staff when he is working at home. Later I was told the crew tried to call us, 2 times because they were running late. Not true, we were home with our phones. Terrible, terrible runaround. The office will tell you any story to get you to hang up. Scheduling is haphazard at best, and that's giving them some credit. The actual service when he finally arrived on Friday October 23rd was excellent. He did everything he was suppose to and then some. Great work ethic. Apparently I was not initially scheduled and was added to his list at the last minute. He suggested we schedule future services twice a year because of our trees. Just dreading the thought of dealing with that office 2x a year. Which is why I am writing this review. read more

As experience with the products continues, I've concluded that Gutter Helmet works pretty well if you don't have trees around your house. If you do, you can expect the usual overflows. The problem seems to be, or at least it is with my house, that once I get an accumulation of oak tassels, etc,, water still overflows. Gutter Helmet looks great on my house, and I don't have to worry about my gutters. I have a double trunk Redwood, a Pine and a Blue Altus. Both of my adjoining neighbors have leaf bearing tress, so I get a lot of foliage dropping on my roof, every year, and while it is enough just racking and cleaning up what falls on the ground, I am glad I don't have to clean my gutters out. read more

Update: I changed my review from 1 star to 3 stars, because Harry Helmet showed responsiveness after my Yelp review. Harry Helmet sent technicians to my house on 9/10, the next business day after my Yelp review. The inspector/technician is very professional and polite. He inspected all the gutter helmets and cleaned debris in the valley areas. He informed me no gutters were clogged, but he identified more than 10 gutter helmet sections that were damaged that led to not-optimal performance. He explained to me the damage was caused by other contractors laying their ladders directly on gutters or gutter helmets. It seems to me gutter helmets are really easy to be damaged. If it is damaged, the lifetime warranty is void unless you replace it which will cost a fortune. Since the existing system is more than 15 yrs old, I have not decided whether to replace the whole system or replace the damaged ones only. ***************************************************************************************** I have gutter helmet system in my house, installed by the previous owner of the house. This summer, I found it was clogged, so I contacted their service department for cleaning, which is covered by their lifetime warranty. I first contacted them in the end of July to schedule the cleaning, and now it is September 7, and my gutter still has not been cleaned yet. I explained to them one of the clogged parts was over the walkout basement. Because the gutter was clogged, it created a lot of burden for the basement drain. Because of all the rain, I am concerned of basement flooding, if this problem does not get fixed. Their customer service does not seem to care at all. I also contacted them by phone and email multiple times inquiring when my appointment is, and each time, I was told my appointment got pushed back for another 1-2 weeks. The customer service people said I was not the only one who got pushed back. How is that response supposed to be satisfactory? I absolutely loved this product! The gutters have always been a problem for me! Or as I call them, the ghetto! Going up there on a 50+ foot ladder, (I have a big house), was getting dangerous. Especially when my son Timmy started shaking the ladder everytime I went up, as a joke. Yes it was funny, but last time he did that I ended up in the hospital! So I'm very grateful for the gutter cap! The packaging was a bit of a let down, not gonna lie. The cardboard was very bare and there wasn't much color. Other than that, it was somewhat easy to install. I lost a lot of the nails on the way to install it and was forced to install it without them but I think it turned out fine. After many calls and promises, the company simply never came by the house to fix the problem and does not provide free maintenance per agreement. Ever since the installation I have reported issues with the gutter helmet system, of inefficient flow levels causing water to drip through whole gutter line but now is even worse with the low temperatures, the water inside has frozen inside the gutter not allowing drainage to flow downpipe. I don't recommend spending the high cost for this system, beware! read more

WOW - Gutter Helmet has certainly stepped up its game in the way of customer service - following the sale! Years ago, you used to have to wait a couple of weeks for service. Now, it's only a couple of days at most. Huge Kudos go out to Damon for his friendly demeanor and great service. He evaluates the entire system, cleans it thoroughly (and I live on a property with 32 mature oak trees) and makes sure all of the gutters, downspouts etc., are flowing freely!! Leaves in the fall and "oak worm" pollen in the spring are inevitable - but GH is there to back up their warranty... greatly appreciated!! read more

I had gutter helmet installed several years ago, and the system has been a lifesaver (probably literally!). The company has been excellent when I've called for service that is needed after fallen tree limbs or other contractors have misaligned the helmet. I have been meaning to submit this review for some time. Based on the advertising claim that I would "never need to clean gutters again" -- that's "deploy and forget" in military terminology -- I had Gutter Helmet installed on my house several years ago. From the start, there was trouble. First, the "covered" gutters filled up right away and needed cleaning out within a month of installation. I phoned the company, and after lots of protestation that "this shouldn't happen," they agreed to send someone to clean out the gutters. It took 3-4 months for this person to show up, and he was crude and flippant -- no one I would have hired if I had done the choosing. I complained about the fact that my "maintenance-free" gutters evidently would need cleaning several times a year -- why hadn't the salesman told me that the product wouldn't work well in a heavily wooded neighborhood? "You don't expect them to tell you that," he said, "when they just want to make a sale." Over the years the gutters did, indeed, need cleaning every few months, and the company was never gracious about it. There were always lengthy delays in having someone come out and rude or inept workers. NEXT, Gutter Helmet informed me that I would need to pay for the services of someone to hose off the outside of the gutters with detergent or else the product wouldn't work properly. This time I complained directly to the president of the local company, and under threat of a lawsuit for fraudulent advertising, he agreed to send someone to do that job with no cost to me. ULTIMATELY, Gutter Helmet on a routine cleaning visit reported that one of my own gutters was broken and needed to be replaced. If it wasn't replaced, the contract was invalidated. Skeptical, I had an independent inspection performed by someone else and was told that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the gutter. THE LAST STRAW was the phone call I made to ask Gutter Helmet to come and remove the worthless product. That labor, they informed me, would cost $200, but "Don't you really want to keep the gutter covers? They really ARE a good product," they cooed. That was the last contact I ever will have with the company. I am now back to paying someone to clean out my gutters several times a year. I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED IN BEING PARTY TO A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST GUTTER HELMET IF ONE IS IN PROCESS OR IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO MOUNT ONE. read more

The gutter helmet works, but still gets clogged with leaves and needs to be cleaned periodically. Here is the rub. I called, they scheduled in about 3 weeks to a month and then didn't show, I called again, rescheduled again...no show. Four times this happened then finally they scheduled for one afternoon, but showed up in the morning when I was not at home and still did not clean. I would say, forget their warrantee. read more

We contacted Gutter Helmet because we were concerned about water damage to our home after a period of heavy rain. We were scheduled immediately for an in-home quote. Rich Pacuku, the Certified Consultant was very professional and he even gave my husband some much needed personal advice. Rich is a very spiritual individual with an honest and good heart. We were given several financial option(s) and we immediately decided to contract with the company. We were told that the helmet would be installed within 2 weeks and they were installed in a week. The two person crew were very professional and the job was done effectively and efficiently. We have dealt with contractor(s) before but Gutter Helmet is by far the most professional company we have ever dealt with. I am really sorry I was lured in by their ads. If you don't buy the most expensive system with a gutter cover, their system just does not work. Mine has been in place for about 2 years and at least twice a year I have to pay someone to clean my gutters or call GH and then wait 2 months for service. Plus their system is easily dented by hail or other storms. My neighbors' system was far cheaper and does a much better job. Please don't make the mistake I did; use another company. read more
