Southgate High Street is not the most beautiful or interesting place to get retail therapy, nor is it the most relaxing as the heavy traffic rumbles on through, but this gem of a coffee house certainly makes it a whole lot better/tolerable.
Opened about a month ago, this place is beautifully decked out with retro cocktail chairs, bare brick walls and has a great feel about it, even when it was empty. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and wore a smile (amazing just how much of a difference that can make to a place isn't it?).
Not much more to say really, other than the coffee was fantastic, even managed to win over my rather opinionated mother and she even noticed that the barrista went through the process of cleaning his hands each time he served a new customer - for all you clean freaks out there, got to be a plus!
Oh, try the shortbread, not only do you get 2 'cookies', but they are amazingly crumbly. Trust me, try them, and get me one while you are there! read more
