My friend and I settled on a classic chicken burger and the single patty Uncle Sam along with the animal fries. I was very happy with my choice, biting into a juicy burger that filled out the bun well, along with ample toppings of pickles, tomato relish, and mustard. My mate was less impressed with her chicken burger, having over cooked chicken a bit too crunchy and not enough sauce. We both agreed the animal fries were excellent! Mayo, sautéed onions and bacon topped perfectly cooked fries. Yum! Next time I want to try a milkshake with many classic and unique flavours. This place easily tops nearby Brother Burger and Soda Rock for me. Perhaps they can use a bit of schooling on their fried chicken but the other dishes were delicious.

Starting with the positives: the atmosphere was lovely. We sat outside, and the seating area was very nice and breezy--perfect for a relaxing lunch by the water. The pizza was also cooked well with a good crust. However, the food overall really missed the mark for us. Compared to the incredible flavors we experienced at other Melbourne restaurants, everything here felt very bland. The lamb was significantly under-seasoned, and the penne pasta lacked any real depth or flavor. It just felt uninspired. As for the service, it was pretty average--not bad, but not particularly attentive or welcoming either. With so many world-class Italian options in Melbourne, we were disappointed that the flavors here didn't live up to the location. Great views, but the kitchen needs to be much bolder with their seasoning.

However, I'm sure I wouldn't be complaining if the Lygon Court Woolworths was awesome. If only. The real problem here is the sub par quality of the fruit and vegies. The produce is sad, overpriced and very uninspiring. In fact, it's best to go out of your way to avoid buying them here. I've spent far too long searching through discoloured capsicums and limp zucchinis in order to find something even remotely edible. Yuck. This Woolworths is saved from receiving a lowly two stars due to the excessive amounts of other stock on offer and the fantastically late opening hours. Just stay away from the fruit and vegies.
