In just 10 weeks of my dog being a patient here, this review went from a 5 star to a 1 star sadly, so I do hope you read this when considering choosing this vet. I do think they have great marketing tools to make you feel special and welcome upon your first visit...a personalized letter board, a savvy app and social media presence...it would be an amazing and fun vet if you only needed tune ups. That being said, I began by coming in because my dog wasn't eating and was getting dehydrated. During her exam, he mentioned she had gingival hyperplasia. That was all that was said about it and I assumed it was a deformity. I googled it at home and found out it needs to be surgically taken care of. He apologized for his lack of communication about it and we moved forward with scheduling the surgery. Dr. Billy suggested I have the small mass my dog has had for 5 years on her side removed while she was already going to be under anesthesia and with up to date blood work. I trusted his opinion and added that on to the cost (upwards of $1700 after procedure and blood work). The tech Ashley took my dog back without even allowing me to give her a proper goodbye and then asked me about a DNR. I asked why someone would choose to not resuscitate their dog as I've never experienced any big procedures like this, and I quote "we'd probably have to break her ribs doing CPR and then she'd probably just code again"....talk about pre-surgery etiquette. Her less than 1" mass turned into a 2 1/2" incision and was stitched up and her gums were operated on too. Their week 1 follow up (during business hours) was great which led to the weekend when her stitches started stretching open and was told "it looks fine, just go take her to an emergency vet...for peace of mind. It's ONLY A HUNDRED DOLLARS" and that's not the reality of many peoples budgets. So I waited until Monday and we were back first thing in the morning and lo and behold, I wasn't losing my mind and she needed 6 staples. I follow up a week later, and they weren't healed enough. So we follow up after another week and then they were too healed and removing the staples reopened her wound (and upon going through my invoices, I now see that Dr. Billy, nor any of his regular employees, is who removed her staples and had to then glue her incision because it was bleeding again). I also explained she still wasn't eating her meals and seemed in pain when chewing and was told "weird! Maybe she's playing you. You can schedule a consultation"???? Then that leads us to this week where it's still not healed and the incision is still bleeding. 29 days later. I understand it's a spot that movement just can't be 100% avoided, but was following every direction exactly as I was told to do. Again, I was told I can come in for "peace of mind" but would be charged a $47 exam fee. Absurd. While taking her vitals, they asked if she's eating and I said not really and that I can only get her to eat 1/2 of her meals and she STILL seems in pain...like I kept telling them after surgery. That being said, upon vocalizing my frustration with another exam fee when he still hasn't seen THIS procedure to the end, he waived the fee and then charged me $111 for an ointment and a prescription....THAT SHE NEEDS TO TAKE WITH FOOD...which just about summarizes their overall carelessness. I will NEVER be back and this is the first time in 7 years that I feel like I failed my dog.

We love Dr. Billy and his staff! They're all friendly and smiling and make the animals feel at ease. Even though my "children" may not typically be excited about why they're visiting Harbor Springs Vet, they're always happy to see Dr. Billy and team. In addition to making the pets and their parents feel welcome, the team is very knowledgeable and also wonderful on the administrative side of things. They have an easy-to-use portal, provide reminder calls, and someone follows-up after procedures or any visits in which one of the babies wasn't feeling well. I appreciate not only their love for my pups, but the overall service provided to clients. This crew is so wonderful we were willing to drive about 15 mins farther because they're worth it. Oh, and bonus - the office is beautiful too! Highly recommend Harbor Springs Vet!

Avoid this place at all costs if at all possible…read more.. they told me my dog had a strained back muscle and sent her home when she was locking up during an emergency visit... after trying to upsell 'cold laser treatments) The next day she was bleeding from her nose and mouth, blue pearl found out she had internal poisoning that they could've treated/ reversed had they caught it the day before when they said she had back pain. She ended up dying four days later at blue pearl.

They deserve negative five stars. While I knew this beautiful boi for only twelve days, the pain…read moreof losing him is intense. Euthanasia is never easy; the experience at AA Animal ER in Palm Harbor turned what should have been a peaceful passing into a real-life nightmare, and the memory will haunt me for the rest of my days. All euthanasia stories are sad, but this one is horrific. I am beyond angry. Milo was brought to us as a stray from Holiday. While not a fan of other cats, he absolutely loved humans. His purr was so loud, as was his growl at any cat who ventured near his condo. Milo loved chin scratches and belly rubs. His neutering at Planned Pethood on 6/19 was routine, his SNAP was negative, and he appeared to be healing nicely. However, something changed on the evening of 6/30. Milo was crying out, and his chest was heavily heaving. I texted our vet, who told me to keep a close eye on him and unless he deteriorated, bring him to the office in the morning. Within two hours, I knew Milo couldn't wait. His crying had intensified, his heart was about to pound out of his chest, and he had discharge from his nose and mouth. His temperature was only 94.6. I rushed down to AA Animal ER to get him some relief. I wish I didn't. The treatment both Milo and I received was despicable. In retrospect, I should have let him pass on his own - it would have been much less traumatic than what we experienced. But, I went to the ER to find him HELP, not to put him down. Upon our arrival, I found their doors were locked. I rang the bell; no one came. I rang twice more; no one came. I called and was asked, "Did you ring the bell?" They wouldn't allow me in the building ("because this is an ICU"), when I objected to that, I was told, "You're more than welcome to go somewhere else." There was nowhere within a reasonable distance TO go. I had to hand Milo over to them and fill out the papers outside in the dark. I was told that the doctor would CALL me. No, he wouldn't come out, and I couldn't go in. He would CALL me. A long time passed and finally he called. He told me that the oxygen wasn't helping him, that he couldn't hear any heartbeat because his lungs were so "harsh." I asked what should I do? The notes from the visit indicate the reason for euthanasia was "Financial Constraints" rather than the heath issue that led to the euthanasia recommendation. I was not given any options for any treatment or tests nor the price to perform them. He only said that Milo wouldn't survive diagnostics. They finally brought me around the entire building into a harshly lit freezing room where the euthanasia would take place. I waited at least ten minutes before the vet brought Milo, wrapped in a towel, to me. The sedative was given in Milo's stomach rather than via catheter, and it had no effect on him. In the notes, his weight is listed at "0." I can only surmise that the dose wasn't enough. When the vet placed Milo in my arms, he was really struggling, flailing, throwing his head back and crying out. The vet (Kyle Kushubar) at my strong request finally administered the euthanasia drug. I've never seen that drug take so long to work. When Milo locked eyes with me, I could read his mind - he was so confused. He was asking me what was going on and why couldn't I help him. To add insult to injury, as I struggled to open the door to leave with Milo, the vet just stood there looking at me. I had to ask him twice to please open the door for me. His response? Just push the bar. Seriously? The amount of compassion that was shown to Milo and to me was ZERO. That poor boy didn't deserve to die that way. The staff and that vet won't give Milo another thought. I, however, will carry this pain and the guilt I feel for bringing him there, for the rest of my life. I'm so sorry, Milo. Additionally, I just realized looking at the invoice that they charged for euthanasia AND they charged for "IV Catheter Euthanasia" which was not done. Vet said he wasn't going to try to catheterize Milo and injected him in the stomach.

We need to UPDATE their rating…read more All the positive reviews are mainly for Dr Robert (Bob) Marrazzo and his daughter DVM Kimberly Marrazzo. Neither one of them are at the clinic any longer. Bob has retired and Kimberly is (permanently?) home for family reasons. At the helm are other (new) doctors. When one consults the website, you can only see the picture of 4 team members out of the 12 listed. On a recent visit my cats were treated by a DVM whose name, picture and bio were not even published on the website. I prefer to know who will treat my felines beforehand. UPDATE needed. When my set appointment was reminded by a text message it stipulated to arrive 15 minutes early to the set appointment time and to bring recent stool samples for both cats. On the day/time of the visit, receptionist was surprised to see us showing up 15 minutes early. This was apparently not necessary. Phone message needs UPDATE. In the Dr's office I was told that bringing in the feces was for sick cats only not for yearly exams. Phone message needs UPDATE. The timing for yearly visits is 30 consecutive minutes per cat. Both cats were seen in less than 30 minutes. I definitely felt that the exams were rushed. Not comfortable. When looking at the worksheet/invoice for both cats, I discovered that one cat was 12 lbs 3 ozs and the second one's weight was miraculously 0 lbs 0 ozs. This happens when you rush. It does not inspire confidence at all. After the exam I was given an information sheet listing some products that could safely be administered to the cats to treat their conditions. When trying to order these I learned that most of the products were no longer available. UPDATE needed. Inquiring on how prescriptions can be filled with online pharmacies, I was told that the online pharmacy needed to contact the vet's office directly and the prescription would be fulfilled over the phone/fax or email. On such a recent trial the office informed me they no longer provide that service and that the Rx would be mailed to me so I would need to contact the pharmacy myself. Really? This was my first visit to the Cat Hospital at Palm Harbor. Needless to say that will also be my last. The whole procedure from making the appointment to ordering medications was a total failure. I lost confidence in their setup, professionalism and knowledge.

Profit Driven Business-…read more We took our Senior cat Buddy to this place for a follow up visit from our ER vet doctor Buddy has anemia, heart issue, and it appears it most likely has GI lymphoma We had blood work from er vet place test results, We paid $1308 for the senior package to Cat Hospital of Palm Harbor and a specialized blood test for protein/ $ 30 extra for this anti bacterial foam ( the ER place had taken a skin bump off the back of his tail) All is good there, but in retrospect we really did not need the foam they sold us because it was healed up We got an honest 2nd opinion from a vet tech who had 2 years experience on internal medicine, she looked at his blood work and off the top of her head she said she would be surprised if he did not have GI lymphoma, she told us options and was honest and said normally it does not end well, so we decided not to torture Buddy with more vet visits. We decided just to go with B12 treatments we could give at home Back to Cat Hospital at Harbor, they wanted to give him B12 shots and a steriod, we decided against the steroids because a previous Dr at ER vet said she would not recommend steroids for Buddy ( ref previous asthma issue) because it could harm him, they were very quick to call us at all hours for additional treatments and even called me early at work to get the $300 for the extra blood test that i authorized. This is the interesting part: When we decided to with B12 only, no more Doctor visits, Guess what Folks no returned call, My other half tried first, then i tried the next day. I did research on the internet and found out B12 came in other forms and Buddy did not have to go with shots, when i got hold of some one she lied and said b12 only comes in shots, i said no i looked it up on the internet , it comes in liquid and pills, she said she would have some one call me back, and ofcourse did not. I ended up paying overnight charges to company on the internet for b12 that is helping Buddy and found some home vet tests on Amazon that I will be doing a check up on myself. After Buddy left that place he had diarrhea bad for 5 days, i also wonder if they mistreated him, Buddy does not do well with vets, because of covid you could not go inside And here is the icing on the cake, the clowns called 4 weeks later for a follow up call, money driven ofcourse, Buddy could have been dead by then!!!!

This place gives me a sense that I'm free to travel and that my African Grey will be well taken…read morecare of so that I don't have to worry. Had our first avian examination here a few months ago and was super impressed with how thorough they are. I thought I was fairly strict with my avian husbandry, but damn they are SUPER strict!! Hahaha. They provide what they feel is best for the animals. I appreciate that they're trying to educate everyone for the benefit of the birds. Luckily I passed with flying colors and was told I'm doing a great job. They are clearly used to handling parrots! I've never boarded my Grey before, he's been with me four years and he's either always traveled with me or I've had a family member stay with him. But now that I live here in FL and only have 1 other family member, I'm going to need another option - and this is a GREAT one! All the employees here seemed super sweet. My guy boarded here for 9 days and I was so worried about him being in a foreign place with overwhelming noises and chaos - but he really seemed to enjoy it! They were awesome about taking him out of the cage a few times a day to let him stretch and feel some freedom. He seemed to really enjoy being here and bonded with one of the girls who spent a lot of time with him. They sent me a couple pics/videos while he was there. They played some music, he got to "talk" and compare sounds with several other birds (including several other Greys!) who were there at the same time. While he was super happy to see me when i picked him up, I could tell that he was totally at ease during his time there. No signs of anxiety at all!! Yaaaayy!!! They even gave him a cute little report card, which i think is an adorable little touch. The office is easy to find, right on 19. It's bright and clean and friendly. They have a couple "house birds" in the main entry who are always fun to say Hi to. My only complaints are: - 1) that the cage he has to be in is fairly small and doesn't have normal perches (incubator), since he's fully flighted and I'm not willing to clip him. I wish they had some other larger options. But the fact that they take him out several times per day makes up for it - 2) they do charge much higher prices than other local boarding options, but again i think that comes down to how much time they're actually spending handling the birds - 3) They are not open on Sundays, and have a small window on Saturdays to pick-up/drop-off, so what this meant for me is that on my last trip i only should've had to board him 7 days but based on their timing I was forced to board for 9 days (which is also a significant additional cost, paying for 2 extra days that are unnecessary from MY side). Having said all this - I'll be back! I think they are great, and i appreciate the care that they put into the boarders. I also appreciate having a sweet staff. Definitely highly recommended!!
