She also lets me know which vegetables will do the best with the current weather: hot, cold, wet, etc. Her husband Michael is often at the booth on Thursdays and Fridays. He remembers that I stock up on succulents and reminds me when they'll have certain types of sempervivums and sedums. They both know that I shop for plant starts regularly and always offer to take my 4" plant pots. In the 2021 season the seeds that did the best for me were California poppies, Swiss chard, red Russian kale, rainbow carrots, and the purple shelling peas. I had a late start this year (2022), but Maurrie made sure to remind me that peas, carrots, and radishes are a good bet even when it's rainy.
