I took the kids to this rink twice last weekend, to try their luck on the ice for the first time…read more They adored it- it turned them into instant fans. They were especially won over by the loud "musique classique" that they played (although it was contemporary popular music, I don't know how that could be confused with classical music... ?) It was an enormous rink with a large, warm dressing room. When one of the kids fell and hit his head (albeit with a helmet) an attendant swiftly brought him to the nurse to put ice on his head (ironic?). Overall, a fun experience. I'll take the kids back until they are a bit more stable on the ice when I can take them to a more quaint (yet more crowded) rink closer to the center of Paris.

Fair for a swim; way over-priced for a workout. 33 meter pool is good for laps, and is priced at 5…read moreEuros, plus 2 more for the required swim cap if you did not bring one. No towels available. Workout equipment minimal for the price [21.50 Euros]. Showers were smelly and unclean.

Maybe I should start with the good stuff: The people working at Piscine Guy Bey were very friendly…read morewhen I was there. On a sunny day like the day that I was there, the pool hall is suffused with light. The one and only basin is 50 Meters long. The sun-deck is quite nice despite just being a big concrete balcony. If you discount grime, it was quite clean when I was there. If you don´t discount grime, you will see everywhere that Piscine Guy Bey isn't quite up to modern standards. But nothing quite demonstrates what is wrong at this public swimming pool than the ceiling in the pool hall. The acoustic panels that they´ve put under the ceiling (in order to reduce Indoor Swimming Pool Noise) have started to fall down one after another. So they´ve installed a net underneath them where they are now agglomerating - and it is quite a number of those (not exactly small) panels. Also, with those panels coming down in masses, I´m wondering how much this net can hold until it itself is coming down. Also, are they now just waiting for all the panels to come down before fixing the actual issue here (panels falling down for some reason)? It is something that needs to be fixed, the net just (hopefully) keeps your customers out of harms way, it doesn't fix the actual issue here. Another thing that I found negative - this may be one pool that has too much activities on offer. Between Aqua cycling, Aqua Power, Aqua Fitness, Aqua Slim, Aqua Stretch and the local swimming club taking up a lane or two - you will find it hard to actually use the 50 Meters of length this pool offers on paper. You really need to study their agenda carefully before going there if you want to get some swimming done. Practical Info: RER Station Meudon-Val-Fleury (RER C) is not far away, but it is a steep climb to get to pool from there. There are Plenty of parking-spaces in front of the pool. Bathing-caps are not mandatory in this pool. Lockers need a 1€ piece. The Floor is quite slippery in the pool hall - bring sandals/flip-flops.

Basement Pool (more or less) underneath Tour Montparnasse. Three Basins, a shallow one, a 25 meter…read morelong "mixed" one and a 33 Meter Pool just for swimming (no shallow End/Side). The Pool-area and the Basins itself are in pretty good shape. Positive is also, that on days with bad weather you can enter the Pool-building without stepping outside if you arrive with the Metro since the entrance is right next to one of the Metro-exits. Negatives are that there is no sunlight (it is a basement-pool - but I found it quite dark in there- could use more light), the state of the showers and changing rooms. For such a big pool, the shower is very small so that sometimes I had to wait some miniutes untill there is a shower free. Showers and changing- rooms were also rather dirty when I was there. The changing rooms are also a bad joke, size-wise. They are much too small and low. A lot of the taller people I saw don´t even try using them and get dressed at the lockers.

Simplement terrible! Ce piscine a été construit par quelqu'un qui déteste des nageurs…read more 1) Men and women have to share the dressing room and the open-floor showers, there is not a single shower where you can shower privately and take off your swimsuit. How are people expected to wash their bodies after swimming? Is everyone supposed to strip in public or go home unclean? Also, the showers have only one temperature, and it's barely lukewarm. 2) The larger of the three pools, which seems to be reserved for lap swimming, is just too deep to stand at any point in the pool, so you cannot rest at the end of the lane. Also good luck doing anything that requires two hands, such as adjusting your goggles or drinking out of a screw-cap water bottle. There is not even a ledge anywhere! 3) Hand paddles are prohibited. 4) It was way too crowded around noon - parisians either don't work, or all go swimming during lunch break. What's worse is that lanes were not marked for speed, therefore it was basically impossible to swim in any lane at any speed. 5) The only few reasons this pool deserves the one star are: the actual pool looked clean, the lockers are free and lock securely without a key, the pool allows and provides kick-boards. Now the question is - where to find a good pool in Paris?
