I have said it before and I will say it again - while these are basic they are seriously important. As well as covering the basics, the store also has a lot of good quality items. I found some groovy garden ornaments that were priced well at around $8. There was also an awesome money box pig with a funny facial expression. There were items including: - stationery - vases - jewellery - costumes - tupperware - boxes and wrapping paper - and much more. The lady behind the counter greeted us on the way in and didn't say much else. I don't expect much more than that in a variety shop so that was good. I definitely recommend this place for some good quality stuff.

Although the stock is primarily cheap imports, the prices are low and the quality is decent. I could try and sum up the range of items, however I'd need a few days and a lot more coffee than I'm currently ingesting to get through it all. For the shopping centre that it is in and the demographic of the patrons, I think the items are quite overpriced. While there are some great items in there, I was still shocked each time I picked something up to look at the price tag. I found a handmade photo album that was a whopping $150! I'd rather buy a new machine made one for that price, just saying. I also found a reasonably cheap material bag that was quite boho in appearance. That was only $28. The prices got pretty random at times and it was hard to see the logic behind them. The staff member who greeted me was quite pushy when I all I really wanted was to browse. It really turned me off the shop as I had to be quite abrupt to get some breathing space. Afterwards I felt quite awkward in the shop and I left pretty quickly. If you're after something different and of nice quality then I can see how this shop would be an option for you. If you're just having a casual browse then perhaps not.

The prices on the goods were reasonable considering the quality of the goods. There is NO cheap made plastic or poly-resin rubbish here. I had a large choice for my $50 budget and bought a lovely, bright, red plate and a puzzle for less than $50. I would expect to find such variety and quality either in the Dandenong Ranges or inner Melbourne. It was really fantastic to find a gift shop with such uniqueness within a suburban setting. The staff were engaging without the pushiness and it was nice not to be ignored. They even offered me a mug of tea and biscuit as I had had an horrendous day. For unusual and unique gifts of high quality with interactive staff then this is a great place to visit.

Gifts of Elegance in Forest Hill is a little misleading in its shop name. I certainly didn't expect to find statues and figurines of the Winnie the Pooh characters placed in an important spot normally reserved for the more expensive items. Yup, they were on a shelf right behind the counter where everyone can definitely see them. I'm not saying the stock here is bad, just that it doesn't seem that elegant to me. The store is clean, the stock is well spaced and presented in nice categories. The staff work hard and are mostly amongst the aisles dusting or cleaning. There is always someone behind the counter however. The service is good too - staff are happy to answer questions and will do their best to help you out. I'm only giving two stars for this one because when it comes to gift shops this isn't one I would typically race towards. Well, unless I was looking for a gift for my grandmother, or non-existant child. There are gifts for people who are really young and really old, but none for the 'inbetweeners' such as myself.

It definitely has something for everyone and every occasion. It had a section for babies and young children with toys and even a pram. At the entrance it had some really cool Halloween facemasks - I wish Halloween were as big here as it is in the States. Ah well. At least I got to look at the masks and dream for a little while. There were so many other groovy items it would be impossible to list them all, so I'm just going to recommend you check it out. The owner Melissa is absolutely fantastic and will help you out with anything you need. There is a little room out the back where the business Mardi Armour Beauty offers beauty treatments like waxing and eye treatments.
