I planned my trip last minute and Agata was quick with emails helping me find a time that would work best. Once we arrived to Miami the weather looked like it was going to be bad. Agata stayed in touch with me throughout the day before updating me on the weather. When she realized that the weather will be nicer in the afternoon (we were going to sail in the morning) she asked the people from the afternoon if they'd be willing to sail on a different day. How nice is that?!? I was so impressed. Now sail day... Migeul was so kind and friendly and we enjoyed every minute on the sailboat. He's a great chef, sailor, and tour guide :) our food was fresh and delicious. Overall this trip couldn't be more perfect.

The good: This was a 3-4 star experience. I booked a…read moresnorkeling tour for 2 for my husband's birthday thru their website. It was easy to book and they had lots of availability. The best part of the trip was how we had the boat exclusively to ourselves! I didn't know it'd be a private tour until the day I came. So, the boat was just a total of 3 people (captain included). The water temperature was great and the clarity was decent. We even saw two dolphins! You meetup at Whiskey Joe's at the marina and you can start your excursion immediately. I liked that you didn't need to wait around much. I was able to see some cool looking fish, a bottom feeder and a crab. You get 2 hours for the snorkeling and you're not required to wear any life vests (in fact, we weren't offered any and I didn't see any). The water is super shallow so it didn't seem dangerous at all. The water is also salty and easy to float in. The boat was nearby the main snorkeling area. The bad: The area for snorkeling was pretty small. It was an artificial reef where the fish were but outside of that area there is just seagrass and there's no living things to observe. The website says snorkeling starts at $75/pp and up but that's misleading b/c that's only the price if you have 8+ people. When I came to the marina, the worker who had me sign paperwork said that "$25/hour tip is required" when I got an email saying 15% tip is optional. My husband clarified and he said "yes, it's required" but later retracted his statement after I clarified that it was strange to give tip upfront before we even went on the excursion. However, I did already give 15% tip upfront on 50% of the value and then Zelled an additional $25 tip to the captain himself afterward. The cost for snorkeling ended up being $407 for 2 people (pricey). The interesting: The captain swam with us to lead us to the reef and then swam back and was mostly on his phone.

He gave us a quick little tour and off we went! I learned about jibs and masts (oh baby) and it was a beautiful day. Cap'n Russ gave us privacy but was perfectly attentive and accommodating. He made the best little appetizers! So thoughtful. He took us through the little waterways to see the huge/gaudy homes that are everywhere in SoFla -- he showed us Andy Garcia's house and we saw him outside. Cool! Don't have enough nice things to say about Russ and the boat. The experience was fantastic. I didn't get seasick either which was quite a relief for all of us!

From the moment we set foot on their 46 feet long sailboat we know we had made a great choice. We were attended to our needs in every aspect imaginable. The head (restroom) and galley (kitchen) were immaculate. The inside of the boat had accommodating and comfortable leather seats. We sailed across the Miami Bay area and witnessed a beautiful sunset while sipping on some wine and nibbling on crackers, cheese and fruits. As the night fell, they brought some LED candles that accentuated the mood and prepared a delicious meal consisting of three courses: Coconut Shrimp with dipping sauce, Salmon over spinach and wild rice, and carrot cake for dessert. We sailed right past the intercontinental and under the Biscayne bridge and were astonished at the sight of downtown from a different perspective. Russell and Susan were great companions in our short trip. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to our close friends and family if they were looking for a romantic night out in the beautiful bay of Miami.

Even so, I paid the full $950 with the clear understanding -- and his explicit promise -- that he would make it right on my next visit by offering a short trip or letting us join another group at no cost. When I reached out months in advance of my next trip to Miami, his responses were vague and noncommittal. Ultimately, he didn't honor what he promised, didn't offer any alternative, and stopped responding altogether. I even asked for a small partial refund of $250 just to close things out, and he has since ghosted me. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend him. I will also be contacting the BBB and local charter associations to report the situation.
