I stumbled upon this place on a rainy afternoon when I was hungry for lunch and out of ideas or Yelp suggestions. Apparently, it is a chain, as I discovered there are several other branches throughout Munich. However, they have a funny name and original theme. Trying to abstain from the ocean of red meat dishes that permeate Germany I decided to order the vegetarian burger (there are about 5 different types on the menu) and held my breath, expecting the worst. It was delicious! Better than any vege burgers in the US, which can be pretty ugly. Crunchy and tasty and even better with Hans Im Gluck's homemade sauces, Gluckliche Fritten soss und die Wirzige Grill sosse, as well as orange spicy mustard. The place has a quirky, noisy atmosphere that makes eating fun. Numerous birch trees without branches or leaves loom throughout from floor to ceiling, provoking a feeling of being lost in the forest, in a good way.
There are also salads and other healthy dishes, and Hans boasts that they use all "bio" (organic) ingredients, farm raised, all natural, yada yada. I believe it. I liked it so much I went back the next day and had a real hamburger for dinner. I was not disappointed. Great place to take kids, and I saw several families having a good time. Highly recommended for a good burger, with or without dead animal flesh inside. read more
