I am from New Orleans so my taste buds have been trained for extreme flavor but this is just your normal ducked off breakfast spot. The atmosphere is VERY homey. We weren't just greeted by the waitresses alone, even the people who were sitting down eating greeted us, sparked up conversations and even complemented us. The food was exceptional great! I had the Spanish omelette with sausage and my husband had their 2 egg breakfast w/ sausage. The coffee was great and the free refills were on point! My husband had an unsweetened tea and he said that was the best unsweetened tea he ever had. My husband is a truck driver and we thoroughly enjoy finding spots like this wherever we go. Friendly greeting from a couple of the waitresses. Neither have been there more than a few months but both very friendly. We had earlier went to Black Bear were seated and forgotten. Small mom & pop place that doesn't even give you anything with an oatmeal order like nuts, bananas or brown sugar. Not a real good place for the food. If you have to have a breakfast then it's barely ok at best. Seating area is loud and has a cafeteria type atmosphere. I wasn't sure about this place when I first pulled up, but there were no other good breakfast places around so I decided to give it a try based on other Yelp reviews. I'm glad I did. The service was fast and friendly. The eggs were done right. The hash browns were perfectly crispy and the bacon was thick and cooked perfectly. The hot cake was as big as my face and it was pretty good. I only had one complaint: who doesn't warm maple syrup? If my syrup had been warm, the meal would have been perfection. It was bad. I mean UGH! Didn't get what I ordered. After letting them know they got my order wrong there was no attempt at fixing it or apologizing for it. In fact, they were down right rude about it. It was a scraping bottom of the barrel experience. First time in Garden City and first time in Kansas and I felt super welcome. Hanna's Corner is everything you'll want coming from a big city looking for small town vibes. Ads on the tables, everyone knows everyone. Great service. The food was good, the pancake was REAL GOOD. I love pancakes that are like a sponge; just airy, fluffy, buttery goodness with a hint of vanilla. The beef in this town is as they say it is: FRESH. I got the hamburger steak breakfast and at first I was perplexed as to why they didn't season my hamburger all that much, but as I kept eating I could taste and differentiate the difference between what I was eating and what I'm used to. It's still hard to explain but the beef at almost every local establishment in this town has the same flavor, and I'd describe it as fresh. They could've salted the steak a tad bit more but still good no less. Honestly, everything except the pancakes could've used a touch more seasoning and the down side was the flies. The establishment was very clean, but there were enough flies for me to notice, and I'm not typically critical of things like that. Hot mid-morning summer day in southwest Kansas, I should probably expect flies next time. Either way, Hanna's Corner is a gem. read more

Typical diner food, but was delicious. I was stunned that the only toast choices were white or wheat. Toast was not buttered and there was no butter at the table. Perfect execution on the hash browns, bacon and sunny side up egg. Service was efficient. read more

This place definitely has the hometown atmosphere which I can respect 100%. Especially coming from a small town in Texas. The food was average. The staff were amazing and super friendly made me feel like I have known them for a while. The hamburger steak was pretty dry but was still devoured. The eggs were really good cooked to my desire! Been here two times now only because I like to give a restart a second chance. LAST CHANCE WAS A BUST TOO We had a fish sandwich, Reuben and tots, plus 2 glasses of water. $20.00 That's outrageous!! I've NEVER been charged for lettuce,, tomato, & pickles. The piece of fish was barely a 1/2 in thick. Had to ask for tartar sauce and my husband had to ask for thousand for his Reuben How this ever got 5 stars is far beyond my wildest imagination. Other reviews looked great so I thought I'd give it a try. Ordered the steak and eggs well done. I don't think I've ever seen a worse cut of meat in my life. I find myself wondering what part of the cow it came from, and if it even came from a cow at all. The toast was actually the best part of the meal. I didn't eat the rest of it. I love this place. It's as dark a dungeon, the food is greasey and the waitresses are more interested in having a farting contest in the kitchen than they are serving you...yet this place is the greatest. If your mouth is slavering for a humongous greasey burger, french fries that taste like they've been boiled in motor oil and coffee that will bend a spoon this is the restaurant for you. I've ate there for the past 15 years and the only thing that has changed is that the waitresses are 15 years older and 50 pounds heavier. This is a great place to eat. Went there today for the 3rd time. I admit I am a slow learner. Today ordered the "special" which was a hot turkey sandwich, with salad bar. The food was fair, it would have been better if it had been hot--it was lukewarm at best. The gravy obviously came out of a can, along with the heavy powdered potatoes. I know restaurants use powdered or already prepared foods, but it is usually better than what Hanna's served today. The salad bar consisted of iceberg lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, etc. and one pasta salad choice. A very blah salad bar, but it was cold which was a good thing. Then the bill came. I was amazed that they would charge so much for such a mediocre meal. The final bill was $31.00 for two--not a problem if the food had been excellent. Upon retrospect I figured their special price was the addition of a "side salad" with the added price of $4.00. (The hot roast beef sandwich was listed on their menu at $6.00 and change ) Third time for me is the charm. I won't be going back to Hanna's Corner. read more
