The cashier, Gail, who identified herself as the manager, was not only unaware of the promotion but became hostile when I asked to use a valid $10 digital coupon from the DG app. She flatly refused to apply it without any explanation. When I requested to speak to a manager, she claimed she was the one in charge and then threatened to call the police on me simply for trying to complete my purchase. She actually picked up the phone to call law enforcement, but after speaking with another individual (who seemed to be an actual superior), she was instructed to honor the coupon--proving it was valid all along. Despite finishing the transaction, she then told me I was no longer allowed in the store. I have already filed a formal complaint with corporate (Case #1620791). It is deeply concerning that a "manager" would weaponize law enforcement over a digital coupon and an advertised sale. I've lived in this area for a while now and have never been treated with such disrespect. Save yourself the headache and go to a different location where the staff is trained in basic customer service and store policy.

Mind you it was one of those "it's my truck, I can tell" type of situations where I knew I was being picky and a pain. They didn't argue or cause a headache, instead he got in the truck with me and took a ride to see exactly what it was doing and when. We took it back, he made a slight adjustment and was absolutely perfect afterwards . I'll take that kind of service over a big chain store any day. Evans is the only place I take my vehicles to for alignments, tires and state inspections. Each time has been fast, friendly and doesn't break the bank.

We needed some gas so I strolled on in and discovered they had Dunkin Donut coffee. They saved the day, I got a large cup java and started to do the happy dance. A while back my husband and I selected some beverages. We are visibly in our 40s. The customer before us was not asked to show identification. I placed them on the counter. I was asked for my ID and did not have it. My husband had his and was denied service since I did not have mine. We left calmly and did not cause a scene. Fast forward to tonight. I grabbed beverages and headed to the checkout line. There was a customer to my right being serviced and a customer in front of and behind me. I intentionally watched as those customers were not ID'd. I was asked for my ID. I politely showed proof of age and made my purchase. I waited to see if the customer behind me was asked for his ID, he was not asked. As the customer behind me finished up and exited, I discretely informed the cashier (his co-worker listening) that I'm not a fan of making a scene in public; however, I expressed my concerns of my experiences at this store specifically. If you want to feel like a suspicious person shop at this location. I will stick to my hospitable and friendly service at the ABC store in CAPE CARTERET!
