I used to be worried about the service level of movers in the United States, but that was needless concern thanks for HWC moving folks. They were speedy and reliable. Their pricing was fair and transparent (not cheap, but I assure you that you'll get what you pay). Their estimation/quote was precise. There was no bad surprise for us. Also, the honest and friendly personality of Mike's team was reassuring for us as a first time mover in the U.S. Note that we not only asked to move but also asked to pack. My two main concern was dishes and a bed. They did great for both - Careful wrapping for dishes and glasses, and quick disassembling and re-assembling of our IKEA bed. These guys were so good, that although they left a mere 10 minutes ago, I feel compelled to write a review. (Ok, maybe I am procrastinating the unpacking process, but they really were great!) I chose them based on the one other Yelp review, and I was just hoping they'd be competent. They were that and then some. Mike and Kevin are very experienced, friendly, hard-working, and fast. They arrived 10 minutes early (he had told me by phone that if anything, they would be early) and that was fine by us! We had a relatively small local move, as we moved most of our belongings ourselves, but we had some large furniture that had to go around corners and up stairs... and we were hoping it would all survive. These guys were very careful (as their name implies), and they minded both the furniture itself as well as the doorways and flooring in our home. Everything was bagged or shrink-wrapped, including all wooden furniture. They set up our beds, our washer/dryer, did whatever we requested, and were definitely adept. They also offered to put felt on some of our furniture to keep from damaging our new wood floors. I was surprised that they had weekend availability when I called just 2 or 3 days ahead of time... but I am certain that once the word gets out on Yelp, this might not be the case. The rates were very competitive ... $90/hr with a 3 hour minimum, and no hidden fees. From our phone conversation, Mike predicted about 2.5-3 hours, and our move took 2 hrs and 45minutes. Nick and his team handled my move with care, grace, and the utmost professionalism. I've used HWC twice now in the past four years and both times they exceeded my expectations. They communicated clearly what they were going to do, how long it would take, and how much they were going to charge. The 2 crew team showed up Saturday to pack our house & garage, all I can say is what a out standing stupindious job. They asked questions even asked if they could use the restroom. They didn't take things for granted, making sure what we wanted packed and than staging everything in a nice manor so we could still get around that night. They were done in about 4hrs wow they worked straight thru not even taking a real break. Sunday morning Mike and his crew showed up and got to work, stay out of their way because they move fast. Once at our new location Mike asked if there were any special request. I requested that all of my holiday items be placed in the same area and that all pictures were placed in our spare room. This review is long overdue. We moved about a year ago and used Mike's company. I guess they were doing a move in my neighborhood today and the guys waved as they passed our house. I'm surprised they still remembered moving us. That was nice. Mike and his team were great! They are very professional and were quick and efficient. Plus, they were really nice people. We thought it would take all day, but we were pleasantly surprised to be done by mid-afternoon. Prices are reasonable as well. We only moved a 1/2 hour away from our previous place. He and his team moved all our furniture and good amount of boxes. We had all our stuff packed in boxes already. They just had to load the boxes and move all our furniture. We were really impressed with the way they wrapped our furniture. They wrapped it really well in plastic (it's impressive to watch them do this) and fit everything in their truck so that nothing moved around. They made sure all our furniture was placed the way we wanted it and even had felt pads to put on our furniture where it was needed. They were good thick felt pads too. If we get past that we're golden." Well, I left a message on a Tuesday after hours (about 7 pm) and got a return call within 15 minutes. Handle With Care did everything right. -They arrived 5 minutes early -They were quick and efficient with the move -Our furniture was in the exact place requested with minimal instructions. -No damage to furniture, floors or walls -They rounded down on the time worked I also needed a bed moved to a different final destination (I was giving it away). I scheduled the move two weeks in advance to nothing but sunny skies and birds chirping. I was moving a townhouse (two floors) style apartment on the third floor of a giant complex in San Jose, to a single floor apartment on the 3rd floor of a much smaller complex. Mike quoted me for 5-6 hours for 3 guys. The week of the move the "rainy season" started in the South Bay. But! Never to fear, Mike (the owner) contacted me repeatedly to let me know the schedule, and what we were to do in the event we woke up that morning to rain. Mike showed up with two other movers (Sylvian and Nick: both of whom ROCKED!) 10 minutes early (fantastic! who ever complains about early?) and I described the lay of the land. All 3 movers came in ready, they brought supplies with them and wrapped everything that needed to be wrapped and truly did handle all of my items with care. Frankly, better than me or my BF would have handled them climbing up all of the stairs to the new apartment. Only had a single bookshelf bite the dust in the move (a tragedy for most, I wanted a new bookshelf anyway) and Mike made sure to tell me as soon as it happened and also asked what I'd like to do about it (toss it!) I hoped I tipped enough because these guys were awesome, and finished at exactly 5 hours from one place to the next. We and our family have moved around the world and the USA far too often and I have for the most part done it myself, you all know the drill, the back breaking loading and unloading the U-Hauls and all- with some assistance from time to time. However, this most recent move for our daughter could only be scheduled while I was traveling abroad. I whole-heartedly recommend Handle with Care Moving! We used them for our local move yesterday and today. Overall, this was the best moving experience I can remember (and I have moved 5 times in the last 6 years). Stellar company! I looked up 3 moving services and the number of 5 star yelp reviews here really stuck out to me. I requested quotes from two services. Mike (the owner) was on a move when I called yet gave me detailed information on pricing and when he could come to see our house and give a better estimate. Mike was able to come two days later. He gave me a written estimate based on the amount of our household goods and gave me many tips to save money (e.g. providing our own boxes, moving some of the items ahead of time, etc). My husband had some concerns with the hourly rate estimate as in the past moving companies have moved slowly and come in significantly over budget. I explained this to Mike and asked him what I could tell my husband to ease his concern. Mike is a friendly man who is easy to talk to. It's clear that he takes a lot of pride in his business and its success. Mike explained to me that he is not interested in moving me once. He wants to move me for every local move and he wants to move my friends, colleagues, dentist, etc. To do that, he ensures that his estimates are as accurate as possible, and he is on every move and so he is able to monitor progress and ensure things are moving at a proper pace. In short, Mike wants his customers (us) to be happy enough to use him again and refer him. Now that the job is done, he 100% nailed it. I'd read in other reviews that the crew is incredibly punctual both when arriving and when taking breaks. We found this to be accurate. We had ended up moving a good bit more than anticipated, so the crew finished packing our house in 5 hours instead of 8 saving us a significant amount of cash. The crew was also super professional and friendly. At one point, my husband scraped his knuckle and without a word, a crew member went into a freshly packed box and pulled out the bandaids to get him one. After they had left, we realized that a small piece of our tv mount was missing. It turns out a crew member had put it in the toolbox to transport it without losing it, but forgot to unpack it. I used Mike due to all the reviews but I was very disappointed with the overall move. Mike said he didn't need to come by for an estimate since moving a one bedroom apartment was usually 3 hours work. So I was prepared for it to go a bit over but imagine my shock when it ran into a grand total of 5 1/2 hours. That is more than a minor time adjustment due to some unexpected work. especially when I am paying $90/hr. Mike said I had a lot of "loose stuff" but that was mostly stuff packed in bags and not boxes so it wasn't actually loose. plus it took no time at all to throw it into a box. I was actually moving my stuff as well so that had to have helped on the time issue. other complaints. They cracked my daughter's desk and Mike just told me I should glue it and clamp it.. It WAS flimsy but I told them as they were about to move it that it was very flimsy and to please be careful, it's less than a year old. very cavalier attitude towards the damage. to top it off, my clothes didn't even make the move after 5 1/2 hours. I still am running back and forth to bring them to my new place. Mike said this was because he ran out of wardrobe boxes due to using them for my loose stuff , but STILL, couldn't he just find another way to transport them? I was disappointed because I got absolutely no special consideration or service that I would have expected. He just kept telling me a I had a lot of stuff, which was besides the point. I hired Mike of Handle with Care in Oct 2009 after reading the rave reviews from fellow yelpers. First, a little about my move. We needed to move from a 3/2 SFH into a 4/2 SFH within Palo Alto. The homes were 1/2-mile from each other. It was a 2-minute one-way drive. Both homes are single story and all the items that needed to be moved were already stored in the first SFH's garage. Majority of the items were boxed, labeled and ready to be transferred, which made the move for Mike and his team simple and straightforward. Mike and his team were mostly careful to move my family's personal items. There were four of them, including Mike. My husband helped a little because we thought it was taking longer than it should have. The reason we thought this was we had different movers move us from a 4/2 2-story SFH from Santa Clara into our 3/2 single-story in Palo Alto in 3 hours. It took Mike and his team to complete the Palo Alto-Palo Alto move 6 hours. In the beginning of the move, Mike was very friendly and enjoyed speaking with my husband at length. Perhaps Mike felt comfortable he had three other movers on hand and the move was going to be completed under 4 hours. However, once they got past the 4 hour mark, the speed and sloppiness started. Before I signed the agreement and wrote out a check Mike informed me he does not cover any damages uncovered after the move is complete and he has left. His demeanor changed from friendly (earlier in the move), rushed (later in the move) to defensive (after the move). Hence, he provided me a few minutes to quickly look over our items for damages. Difficult to do when our items are stacked and crowded close to each other. Over the week after the move as my family unpacked our belongings, we realized how the cosmetic damages done to our HDTV, treadmill, and sofas. Plastic containers with wheels were broken off as well. To make a long list short, my advice would be to monitor their moving closely when things get rushed towards the end. Though I appreciate their careful handling earlier in the beginning of the move, it cost me extra hours because they were very slow compared to other movers we used in the past. This is our fourth move in the last 12 years. I will hire my previous movers next time. The offer lower rates, use half the number of movers, work faster and provide the same results. read more

My husband and I used this moving service for the first time and we are very pleased with the results. The team came over before hand and gave us a reasonable estimate of the time it would take to complete the move. Their prices are great too. Two days before the move they called us to check if things were still on track. On the day of the move, they were really prompt and on time. Great customer service! At the new location, they helped us arrange all the big furniture and also classified the boxes based on room which made unpacking pretty easy. Now in my mid-thirties, it was time for an "adult" moving experience. No more u-haul, cursing up and down, dropping and breaking things, you get the point. We hired Handle With Care Movers based on a tip from a friend as well as the Yelp Reviews. From the first phone conversation, Mike was extremely helpful and reassuring. And it just got better from there. Oh my god- I will never move myself again. At some point throughout the process, I confessed my love to all three movers helping us (I tend to do this- just ask the guy that gave me my epidural when I had my son) and honestly, they couldn't have been nicer, more efficient or more professional. They were prompt and had us moved out of a two bedroom duplex plus a decent amount of garage storage in 1.5 hours-then we were off to the new place, where they unloaded us with (what looked like) ease. We moved last month and based on the yelp reviews we went with them. The move went really well. We had a few items that we wanted them to pay attention to and they really patiently listened and did whatever had to be done to protect the items and avoid any issues. We had flower pots to move and so we did a second turn, it went really well again. Nothing seems to be a problem.
