My biggest gripe from past visits was the lack of ventilation, which for a charcoal grill kbbq can really make or break the experience, but it seems that they've worked on ventilation and it's not as stuffy. We had a reservation at 6:30, and we were sat really quickly, and had banchan ready for us at the table. I'm not too picky with meat quality, but I did enjoy the selection, but keep in mind each portion is pretty small, which can be nice if you're looking to try a wide variety of meats. We decided to stick with the regular menu, and we were happy with the selections. The service here was excellent! They were extremely attentive and quick to check on us and refill our water and meats. We tried to reorder galbi, but didn't know we were limited to one per person for the menu we chose, but they brought out extra on the house which we really appreciated! It seems that they've improved dining experience here, and look forward to visiting again in the future!

Grill and Tofu House is an excellent, family run establishment that serves up delicious food. The space is very nice and the service is very friendly. I ordered a Dolsot bibimbop because I love food that comes to your table and it's still cooking! I also love that your entree is served with several Banchan (appetizer) dishes. One thing I love about any dining experience is getting a lot of different flavors and textures in one meal. The banchan here had seven different dishes! Of course you get your kimchee, bean sprouts, fish cakes and then some other pickled fruits and veggies. They also gave me what seemed like a roasted sardine? In any case, it was delicious! The Dolsot Bibimbap was a hit! Crispy rice, vegetables, beef and a fried egg on top. Plus, some gochujang sauce to go on it! So yummy! I feel like the prices here are pretty standard for the area, but I do think it's 100% worth the money. Check them out if you're in the area!

We decided on the oxtail pho w the appetizer sampler...and we loved it! The sampler had sticky wings (double fried with a fish sauce marinade), spring rolls, imperial rolls, shrimp rolls and duck skin chips allowed us to try a bunch of things and the oxtail pho had a rich broth and tender delicious beef. Also loved the pandan tea and the sugarcane juice. We will definitely be back!

Menu is on a QR code that was provided on the table. One good thing about ordering on the phone is that it makes it easier to list what everyone wants. The downside is that six people's orders were messed up. I did see the waitress transfer the orders that was on our phone to what seems to be her phone. The waitress had to come back several times to confirm what we ordered. I ordered the oxtail-only pho, but they brought out the combo oxtail pho instead. To their credit, they did give us a free bowl of pho for the mistake and did not charge us the automatic surcharge for a large party. I understand that restaurants get busy, but it was still a frustrating experience.

The food is reminiscent of the good food id have back home. Be warned, the tofu soup or soondubu comes pretty spicy, so ask for less spice if you aren't good with that. Cheese corn is very cheesy, sweet, and have amazing cheese pull. Bulgogi is perfect balance between sweet and savory as well. My husband created bulgogi cheese corn combination that he definitely will go back for. Honestly for me, the star of the show is the short rib broth. Its one of the best broth I have ever tasted with massive amount of meat in it (they definitely did not cheap out on quality and quantity!) Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the soup and bulgogi because it came in after we have started eating. The restaurant itself is nice and spacious. Just had to make sure to wear something you dont mind smelling like bbq because the moment you entered, the amazing smell greets your senses. The service though, was a bit weird. Apparently we were supposed to refill for our own water to the back? And we had to wait a bit before someone actually checked on us. It's not a deal breaker though, we would still go back and enjoy the deliciousness of their korean dishes!

I got the potato salad and the zhajiangmian, and my boyfriend got the Lanzhou beef noodles and pork burger. I wish they put the components of the dish in the menu online so you could opt out, because both my zhajiangmian and potato salad came with bean sprouts (which I hate!!). I just picked through all of them and ate the remaining dish afterwards- the potato salad was yummy and the zhajiangmian was savory and came with lots of minced pork! My boyfriend enjoyed his Lanzhou beef noodles a lot, the beef was tender and the broth was incredibly flavorful and delicious. He liked the pork burger a lot as well, they did not skimp on the meat and the bun was fluffy! I would highly recommend this dish to anyone, it's a classic that is done well! This place had a line so I thought was worth the try... The lamb skewer-fat, chewy, and the flavor is just on the surface of the meat. I ate what I can and spit out the tough part. I think if the meat was cut into smaller pieces and grill a little longer would be more enjoyable. The chef has room to improve... this place did not meet my expectation.

We went around 5 PM on a Tuesday, and it was nice and quiet, so we were seated right away. We started with the teppanji and then ordered the katsu curry and karaage curry. The curry was rich, flavorful, and honestly reminded us of our trip to Japan. Portions were generous, and I liked that you can customize with extra meat, veggies, or even add an egg. The real standout, though, was the teppanji chicken--it was so good that we'd come back just for that alone. Overall, great food, good service, and a clean space. Japanese Curry, a sweet and mild curry, is very different from Indian and Chinese/Thai curry. Usually served w/crispy Tonkatsu and a cabbage salad, it can be hard to find. Finding good Japanese curry can be just as difficult. CHB satisfies on the Japanese curry savoriness front. While it's nothing fancy (that extends to their decor), it is housemade and delicious. Waitstaff was brisk and courteous. Was advised to not order more than what I had...he was right. Had leftovers to take home! Ordered the signature ORIGINAL KATSU CURRY w/pork. Other option is chicken. Steamed rice in a Japanese eatery is always top notch, always perfect and generous in portion here. The Tonkatsu was crispy but a tad short of tender, but tasty enough to dip in the accompanying Japanese curry sauce. I might ask for the curry sauce on the side next time. Cabbage salad, traditionally a huge portion was a small offering cushioning the Tonkatsu. Accompanied by a small scoop of house made potato salad and pickled veggies. The hot Tonkatsu, steamed rice and Japanese curry sauce was a great combo for me, a very filling and satisfying meal! CH offers a tabletop varied selection of chili peppers: Pequin, Wiri Wiri, Ichimi, Jalapẽno, Orange Habanero. I did a light sprinkling of the traditional Japanese Ichimi pepper to add a touch of heat and that was fine. Signature ORIGINAL KATSU CURRY was a great start to this menu tasting. I'll be back to try their DOUBLE MENCHI CURRY, KARAAGE CURRY, ASSORTED VEGGIE CURRY, KATSU CURRY UDON. CURRY HYUGA BURLINGAME is also one of the few places that has Omurice on its menu. A Japanese omelet w/rice or noodles inside. Their version is HAYASHI OM-RICE. I will definitely be back to try this! See you there!
