Due to a family emergency--my father suffering a stroke--I had to cancel my reservation. Despite the circumstances, management was completely inflexible and refused to accommodate the situation with any compassion or understanding. Upon arrival, the hotel itself was far below Hyatt standards. The carpets were stained and dirty, electrical sockets were either broken or loose, and several lamps in the room didn't even work. It was clear that maintenance and cleanliness were not a priority. Given the lack of empathy from management and the poor condition of the hotel, I would not recommend staying here. There are plenty of other hotels that value their guests and maintain higher standards of service and cleanliness. This makes me never want to stay at a franchised Hyatt ever again due to these people without any humanity that own and run this hotel.

It's really a motel with indoor corridors and parking outside your door. Oddly, there were two doors in the room -- one that led to the outdoor parking lot and one that led to the interior corridors. The bed was comfy, the shower was good, the hotel was quiet. The staff were friendly. Plenty of outdoor parking. Small indoor pool (we didn't use it). The complimentary breakfast buffet was pretty typical with a decent amount of seating. They offered eggs, bacon, yogurt, oatmeal, cold cereals, granola bars, apples, oranges, toast, muffins, coffee, tea, juice, etc. We noticed there were several construction workers staying there at the time. Everything downtown is walkable, and the farthest we walked was 1 mile to the Great Lawn. You're a 10 minute drive to Central Park and Churchill Downs. The hotel was about $400 for a long weekend, and I found the room to be well worth the price. Be advised parking is not free. There is street parking available. The hotel offers garage parking with in and out access for $24 per day. The amenities were great at this hotel. The room was spacious and well appointed. Plenty of coffee and soaps. The shower was a highlight! I was massive and had the best water pressure. The breakfast was subpar, and the eggs were slimy. The biscuits and gravy's were the saving grace of the breakfast offerings.

But theoretically, it has a pool and hot tub.) It has board games that you can check out to play in your room. The continental breakfast is complimentary and has things like make-your-own waffles, yogurt and cereal. As for me, the one thing a hotel needs to have is a fitness center, and TownePlace Suites by Marriott has one. It isn't the biggest hotel gym I've ever been in, nor is it the best, but it got the job done. It has a couple of ellipticals, a couple of treadmills, a recumbent bike and some free weights. Blessedly, no one except for me was in the fitness center each time I visited. I imagine it doesn't see much action. I also really liked how centrally located the hotel is. It's right in the middle of downtown Jeffersonville, so you can walk to all kinds of restaurants, shops and other things. You could even walk to Louisville, if you wanted! Across the street from the hotel is a playground -- not affiliated with the hotel, but nice to have close if you have kids, and adds to the family-friendliness of the hotel area. I chatted with the woman behind the check-in desk for a bit, and she was a wealth of knowledge about the area. If you need recommendations on where to go, what to do or what to eat while you're in Jeffersonville, don't be afraid to ask the people here at the hotel.

There is a delicious, decent priced restaurant right next door (Cattleman's Roadhouse) and if you show your hotel door key, you get a free order of mozzarella wedges! The only bummer during our stay was that the pool was closed for something needing fixed. My kids were very disheartened, the front desk said on our first day of check in that it should be fixed that day, but it was not, and then it was still closed on our second day at the hotel as well. I did not complain too much to the front desk, but maybe I should have asked for a discount due to the one amenity we searched for (pool), while booking, was unavailable to use. If we'd known, I would have looked for another hotel to stay at so we could swim, especially since we got a lot of rain during our stay and could not do many of the outdoor activities we'd planned to do.
