Got in late, room was pleasant. Being late in the evening we bought some microwaveable meals from the lobby. Sadly the Microwave was not working very well and in my opinion it was nothing more than a low bid item. We are Hilton folks and overall serves us adequately however when you skimp on anything that the traveler needs in their home away from home. Soap etc. Sooner or later its to their peril especially when you are paying $200 plus for a room. read more

Not really sure why this hotel is rated so high. Yes, staff is great and breakfast was just fine. But parking lot is loaded with people laying around (literally), congregating in groups, in and out of doors. Side doors are inaccessible under construction. Parking lot is well lit but still, it's very sketchy to me. Rooms are dark and the AC does not work well. Very hot all night. Yuk. I felt like the floors and carpeting was dirty...wore my flip flops bc I didn't trust them. I think $209 a night is pretty steep for this location. I would like to see a security person on alert during the night. Could hear all the doors slamming up and down the hall. Rooms desperately need a refresh and need to be lightened up. read more

After traveling for 8hours in the car we finally arrived at the Hampton Inn in Roanoke Rapids NC. We were greeted by a very friendly employee, our room was very clean and our bed very comfortable. The hotel seemed very crowded by the amount of cars in the lot, but the inside was very quiet, which we enjoyed for a good nights sleep. At breakfast the next morning we were greeted by Rose, she was so sweet, I said I didn't know what I wanted, eggs or waffle, she said we offer small waffles and said she would make one for me, it was great. If you like the shower in the bathroom above you to drip into yours, then this is the place for you. There is mold on the ceiling in the area of the leak, so this condition has been going on for a long time. Apparently the management doesn't care and thinks it's OK to rent a room with an active leak and mold to unsuspecting customers. When I brought this to the attention of the clerk when we checked out, she said "didn't you notice it last night when you checked in?" Like somehow this was my fault. I have video proof of the problem, but apparently the manager was unavailable to come to the desk to see it. Never mind the fact that despite being a smoke-free hotel, our room wreaked of smoke. If I could give zero stars I would, but I give it 1 because the front desk/staff was very friendly and pleasant. Upon entering there is a big pitcher of pink lemonade and coffee/tea. It seems very nice and welcoming . Once you pass that area, it's all downhill! The elevator floor was disgustingly sticky. My shoes were sticking to the floor. We got into our room and it smelled like mold. There was a dirty washcloth hanging on the shower curtain rod from the previous guest. Totally disgusting! The bathroom floor was extremely sticky as well. The entire room was dark, dingy and disgusting. The furniture had chunks missing from the bottom as if a huge dog was teething on it. I've never been to a hotel where the furniture was broken with chunks missing. That's unacceptable ! Horrible! We went out for dinner and when we came back it seems as if someone attempted to mop the elevator floor. It only made the floor look more dirty and it spread the the stickiness around. We were driving back to NY from FLA and needed a place to stay for the night. Let's just say I did not sleep! I watched the time change on the clock praying for morning to come. I was so grossed out. They offer free breakfast but I wasn't going to even try. We ran out the door as fast as we could! This place should not have the Hilton name attached to it! We got this room on Priceline and booked and paid for a non-smoking room. After 8 hours of driving we arrived at 1:37 am and we were told they had only one smoking room left. Our choice was to leave, find another room at 2 am in the morning and fight with Priceline for a refund, or stay. We were exhausted so we stayed. It was disgusting. Who still offers smoking rooms?? Hilton claims you have a cleaner stay from check in to check out. Cleaner than what?? The carpet, walls, bed, furniture, sheets, and towels all reek of smoke. It was as if all the smokers who ever smoked in that room were there in bed with us. And to top it off, the fridge contained a previous guest's 2 cartons of milk and a quesadilla. Who knows how long that was in there. Even after a shower and leaving as fast as we could in the am, we can't get rid of the smell. It was just gross. read more

Hampton Inn Roanoke Rapids was a great overnight stop on the way home after a quick I 95 road trip. Hotel is located off right off the interstate, reservation was made via Hilton App, checking in was easy, staff was friendly and chocolate chip cookies were delicious. My room faced the interstate, noise was not too intrusive for me. The room was clean, lots of charging ports for electronics and the free breakfast hit the spot, yes I resisted the urge to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel, which is next door. If I ever need another quick layover on I 95 in NE North Carolina, this Hampton Inn will be my spot. read more

We booked this Hampton Inn in Roanoke Rapids, NC the day of our leaving for Florida, and we got one of the last rooms. We were worried we'd be next to the highway or on a noisy floor---but no! My husband and I stayed one night at this hotel on our way back from Florida. First, the shower was less than adequate; clock didn't work - you could set an alarm but you could not set the correct time; nightlight was burned out and the bathroom floor was sticky. However, I just let the desk staff know when we checked out; I wasn't planning on posting all that online. However; then we had a bogus charge of $282.50 on our credit charge, in addition to the correct amount for the night's lodging. Initially after contacting Hilton Honors, they apologized for the mistake and asked me to send information to mail a refund check (within 30 days). Once I did that, I got a response from a different person (the 4th person to be involved in the correspondence) that the charge was for smoking + tax. Here's the thing...we DID NOT SMOKE in the room. Not sure what recourse we have now other than alerting our credit card company and posting this review letting folks know that at the very least, we would never stay here again and I would recommend being wary of staying at this property. read more

I agree with the May 1st review. Service was good and the breakfast OK. The place needs an over haul, rugs should be replaced, rooms falling apart and need a good cleaning. Outside, people were milling around the parking lot. Inside it appeared illegals were sitting and lying around in the hallways on the main floor waiting for their laundry. Not sure this hotel is putting up illegals immigrants but it appeared so, for the bags of groceries they were bring in. This environment did not appear save and my family will not stay here gain. June 2023 stay at Hampton Blvd location. Ms. Amanda and Mr. Teray (sp?) at the front desk were fantastic at customer service! The housekeeping crew however missed a few 'pertinent' details in the room over the weekend I stayed there. Overall it was pleasant and I recommend it. The Pool and Exercise Room looked clean. I enjoyed the Breakfast Buffet and Coffee/Tea Bar. I would suggest an update is needed to the bathrooms and elevators in order to meet the high standard I expect from a modern Hilton hotel property. By far the WORST Hilton establishment I have ever stayed at. I am amazed that they put the "sticker seal" on my room, because it wasn't cleaned very well. The sheets of one bed were dirty. The bathroom I found hairs around the toilet. There was the previous guests dinner left in the microwave. The phone didn't work. The hotel is supposed to be set up for digital key access, when I went to try I noticed that it was all old school locks, the ones where you have to drop the key in, with the magnetic stripe on the card. And the readers need to be FINESSED, I spent 2 minutes outside in the rain trying to get in through one of the outside doors. Staff seemed friendly enough. But hotel is seriously outdated, by at least a decade. Also if you like having a decent meal, go somewhere else, all that is available in the area is fast food restaurants. I wanted to get a nice salad, and all the was available were the high calorie ones from Applebee's or Ruby Tuesday or the pre-packaged ones from Dominos. The latter, I do enjoy occasionally, but they're never real good.. I WILL NOT NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! read more

Worst experience at a hotel in my life. Rude staff. Poorly ran hotel by nasty rude management. They accused us of stealing towels from a room they had to change for us because we keep getting locked out of our room from a faulty door system. They had to move our room in middle of night and in morning when we checked out . They said items were missing from the roo. They changed for us. Like who stealing those hard dingy towels. I can get better ones from the Walmart. It was just how rude and nasty they were to us and would not give us the GM numbers to call and complain. read more

Stayed here on July 10, 2023, paid my bill, received my final receipt and today August 22, 2023 they were trying to charge my credit card $6.50, 40+ days after we stayed. No phone call, no nothing! On this visit, 4/12/19, checkin took a little longer than usual and we were not offered bottles of water. There were no king sized rooms available but the two doubles room was clean and comfortable although short on towels. We were offered bottles of water later in the evening when things had calmed down at the front desk. I love that Hampton Inn has coffee and tea available 24/7 but this time there was a lack of tea bags and it wasn't replenished by breakfast. The breakfast room women are SPECTACULAR!!! SO upbeat, friendly and helpful. What lovely positive personalities to wake up to before continuing a long drive!! They made our stay 5 stars! Very clean I little overpriced considering the hotel is older. Mattress was ok but pillows were horrible and really need new ones, totally flat. Stayed here for 1 night, arrived without reservations on a Saturday night and got a room with 2 double beds. The room was very clean, the staff were nice and the beds were very comfy. The breakfast was the usual hotel breakfast (hard-boiled eggs, cereal, waffles, oatmeal (which I had and was good with the candied almonds, if only I realized to add a banana it would've been better!), fruit, scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, pastries, coffee, etc.). My only complaints are that I found some weird dirt stains on one pillow case (as if someone had stepped on it with a dirty shoe), and that the air-conditioner & refrigerator were rather noisy during the night but in reality, you fall asleep quickly and the noise is ignored. This is the first motel I've stayed in that recognizes how electronics have become such a big a part of our lives. There are 3 outlets and 2 USB ports on the nightstand, the clock radio has a wire that you can plug into the headphone jack of your device and listen to music/videos with a speaker, and the desk has 4 more outlets and a wired internet connection. On the down side, they have a complimentary wifi access that is very slow, and a better wifi access for which they $5 charge per device. So if your family has an iPad, a laptop, and an iPhone, the faster internet access for all 3 will cost you $15. The breakfast buffet includes fruit salad - a good vegan option. But for environmental reasons, I wish they had reusable plates and utensils instead of styrofoam and plastic. The room is nice too - clean, comfortable, with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and a good-sized TV. read more

Check in is at 3pm, we arrived at 330pm and still had to wait until 4pm for room availability. We stayed in room 623, a 2-Queen bed suite. Found the room spacious, freshly cleaned, and with soft beds.   However, the room faces I-95 and there is ample road noise. In the evening, after bedtime, we found out that the room couldn't hold a consistent temp and the window A/C was terribly noisy. It's comparable to sleeping next to a washing machine during its wash cycle. It continually cycled on/off throughout the evening. The room would go from sweat inducing hot, to mind blowing noisy, to cool and quiet... then repeat itself. Our thermostat was set to 70... not low by any standard.   Around 0200 I woke to what I can describe as the smell of Sulphur. Got up to check things out and found the whole 6th floor stunk of it. No fire... just stink. Tried to go back to sleep. Couldn't, really, with the smell, heat, and noise. It was quite literally the worst sleep I've had in several years.   Alarm was at 0600 and my family and I were happy to leave. After we packed and were heading to check out at 0700, the whole 6th floor continued to smell of Sulphur. Check out was quick, and I wasn't asked how our stay was. Kind of glad, because I just wanted to leave.   Would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Except for maybe my mother in law. read more

We checked in unexpectedly in this hometown of N.C because our car broke down. We decided to stay here for 2 nights (8/04 - 8/06). The staff are very nice and accommodating. They let us checked in before 12 noon instead of 3 p.m. Our room is very clean and well stocked with supplies. Free breakfast was served the following day and it was excellent. They were friendly and attentive to our needs. Ms. Annie who is in charge with the dining area is very professional. She has this warm, hospitable personality. It takes away our stress that day in buying another car. From the desk receptionist, our dining lady and room cleaners. We have gave them all an A+. Highly recommended place to stay in. read more
