Even though I'm from Minneapolis, I will frequent the Hilton Garden Inn and will sometimes eat in their restaurant. The male bartender, who use to work here often, just happened to work once in a while, and he is so personable and friendly. The menu is not as extensive as it once was, however, the options that are on the menu are always spot on. My last meal, I chose the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries, and it was one of the better hamburgers I've had in a long time. The chef always seems to be on top of his game, I don't believe I've ever had a bad meal when he's working. From the first bite, I could tell the burger was made perfectly to order. The lettuce, tomato, and onion were all set on the side, so you can build your burger how you'd like. With the bacon and cheese, I chose to add lettuce and onion. Sitting at the bar, while watching sports on the large screens, I could see the plates coming out to other patrons, as well as them going back in. As creative and full as they were coming out, each plate seemed to all be empty/clean going back to the kitchen.

Both of the treadmills were malfunctioning, and the ellipticals were jacked up too. That kinda irritated me from day one. Getting coffee in the morning I had to swat fruit flies away from me at the coffee station. Why is it so difficult to act like a proper hotel? I wouldn't have been bothered by most of this if I were at a crappy motel, but for the price you pay to stay at a Hilton Garden Inn, you should expect more. Everything about this place made me think they were just riding it out before they go out of business.

The desk help was on the phone and didn't even attempt to make eye contact with me. She entered and exited the back office at least 3 times just to pick up the phone when she returned. The shower water was cold. It was not even warm I ended up going to the pool, which was warmer, to clean up. I had just got a massage and the pool helped to wash off the oil, so that was actually very nice. Try another location as it was too bizarre to accept at the Bloomington location.

Our choice was $135 a night at the Hampton or $79 a night at this property. Now mind you $79 a night is not typical this was over Christmas and the hotel was not that full so it was a good price to lure us and it worked. Once we got there we found the whole property to be extremely clean; it smelled clean, even the carpets that didn't look new smelled clean. Our room was clean, the bathrooms were clean, the tub shined , the breakfast was delicious, all the staff were polite including the cleaning staff. They were extremely helpful in every means possible. We did not use the fitness center or the pool but they looked clean and inviting... we did not use the complimentary internet because we have unlimited data and both had excellent cell signals from our room on the 3rd floor. Unlimited data is a wonderful and liberating thing. We will continue to stay at Hampton Inn properties in certain cities where they provide the best rate and/or location, it just so happens this time in this city the Holiday Inn Express kicked butt. We attempted securing the room two months before our stay on December 22nd Thru the 27th at that time the rate at the Hampton was $135 and the rate at this Holiday Inn Express was $99 at night . We had to rebook and add a night closer to the stay. Thats when the Holiday Inn Express computer came up with a lower rate because of lower occupancy so we ended up having our $99 a night stay reduced to $79 a night.... how's that for a surprise? Our extra night became free and we didn't even try for it. How cool is that? One last note... there are typically more children at this property then at the Hampton Inn because the Hampton is more geared towards business Travelers. However it was Christmas and the cost savings was worth it . I am a member of the rewards program at both Holiday Inn Express & Hampton Inn it is advantageous to get a better rate.

Cleanliness 7/10 - needs wipe down of doors, faucets, buttons, outlets etc. A deep clean would make a big difference. Bathroom is small and frustrating. Door opens right into the toliet so you cannot sit down without shutting door and having right in front of you. Bed is very comfortable but has very small pillows. Not traveling with children but the water slide would be an attraction for kids. Free breakfast is appreciated. Fair for the rate ($130 ish)

The staff are very inconsistent tho and some visits I do encounter staff with bad attitudes. The main pluses for this place are: - complimentary breakfast - comfortable beds - complimentary shuttle to nearby businesses - clean gym facility The location is definitely not that great with only 2 restaurant next door. And very far from the airport or downtown or any main attractions.

So if you don't have transportation, this wouldn't be a great fit. My real problem is with management for multiple reasons. 1. I received a email the morning I was driving from Arkansas to Minnesota saying that they had changed their policy regarding breakfast. There would be no breakfast provided for most of my stay. How convenient to send me an email while I am traveling saying the policy about breakfast has changed. Poorly done, but disappointments are a part of life. 2. We had to leave early on this points stay because of a medical emergency. They hotel said they would refund my points for the shortened stay, but I have never seen them. I have emailed them multiple times and only received one reply saying that both rooms were occupied for all nights. I have called Marriott Customer Service 5 times now and they more confused than ever. Evidently Marriott will not allow them to adjust points or reimburse the customer any longer. The way this has been handled has left me extremely confused and upset. Even the Marriott Customer Service Reps can't explain what is going on. After spending 30 minutes plus on 5 phone calls, with each rep saying something different, I am done! Did I get the points back, NO. Even the reps couldn't see where the points were reimbursed. The hotel stopped responding to me after one email and didn't respond to my voicemails at all. Thanks Woodbury Sheraton, you made our family mini vacation difficult and extremely frustrating! They did listen when we suggested they figure out some way to work around the odd way the designers are "hiding" the refrigerators, as it's causing them to overheat. The easiest way would probably be to take the door and associated hardware off that cabinet - otherwise, I think they're risking equipment failure and/or fire. To put it simply, they didn't seem to care about our experience, business or cleanliness of the room(s).

I had as good a rest as I could've, given the circumstances. The room itself felt dated, with old carpet and a faint smell of smoke, but I was able to fall asleep quickly. The last part is that the hotel had a shuttle to the airport, about 2 miles away, which was convenient. I don't know that I would stay here again, but the service was excellent, so I would recommend.
