Wow! I have long been a Hampton Inn customer - finding the chain a comfortable and affordable middle of the line hotel. Some are better than others, and I would rank the Americus Hampton Inn in the top handful out of the several dozen I have stayed in across the country and across the years. This hotel is near downtown historic Americus, and very close to places to grab food or drink or gas or even ice cream. I left my home in Maryland at six in the morning, and when pulling into this hotel at almost 8 in the evening, I was thinking I would have to run back out to grab some fast food after unpacking the van. But when I rolled in the front door, I was greeted by the hotel manager, and smiles from a few other guests who were enjoying a college basketball game on the large TV in the lobby, while munching on apps and fruit and soft drinks provided as a part of the Monday through Wednesday evening manager's social. Wow! This was a Tuesday, so I enjoyed pizza rolls and fruit and chips and warm cookies and more. No need to run back out after a long drive and unloading for a week long stay here. The hotel is truly wheelchair accessible, and it is clean and bright, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. My room is large, and I was surprised to find an eclectic adaptor bedside where I could plug-in multiple devices and also USB chargers. The bathroom provides plenty of room for my wheelchair to turn around, and the sink is high enough that I can honestly roll under it without pumping my knees. The kitchenette area has a microwave and a good size refrigerator as well as a sink and a table and coffee maker. The couch and chairs are in need of replacing - as they are quite old and worn. But if that is the only thing I can find to suggest as an improvement - well, then this Hampton rocks. The free breakfast buffet was hot and delicious and offered a wide variety of items. Eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, hot and cold cereals, make your own waffles, grits, fruit, juices and coffees and teas and more. You can take the food back to your room, or you can enjoy eating in the lobby watching the morning news in the table area or at a long bar that offers electric outlets and USB charging stations every couple of feet. Plenty of parking. Very professional and friendly staff. And it feels quite safe here. If you are passing through Sumter County, Georgia, I highly recommend the Americas Hampton Inn for your lodging.

Nice bathrooms!

We had to evacuate from Savannah, GA due to hurricane Matthew this past week. Our stay here at this hotel has been only positive since arriving. After sleeping in a tent for 2 days because everything was booked up, we stumbled across this place. We received the very last room here and we're SO thankful! We even had our older dog traveling with us and although it wasn't allowed, they made a special exception for us. I can't be more thankful enough that the staff was understanding and let my little fur animal stay here. (I hope I do not get anyone in trouble for mentioning that the staff allowed this.) They even gave us an early check in so we could finally shower and relax after such a rough few days. Although it is priced higher then the surrounding hotels, its for sure worth it. A lot of the hotels are cheap and run down in this area. I would say this is one of the better hotels in the area for sure and location is right near everything you need. Everything was clean and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommend!!

Floor needs to be vacuumed better. The A/C systems vents are filthy. Don't look like they have ever been cleaned. Another quest was getting on the elevator while I was getting off and said she had a mouse and seen it and also a sticky trap. She was going to another room. Won't stay here again.

Quality Inn Americus - Room 227 Bathroom was a nightmare.

Quality Inn Americus

I am giving two stars because the guy at the front desk was real nice. However, stand aware: Were…read morethis gentleman not there you would get a negative rating, were I able. Let's address my issues: 1. Very few guests are currently staying at the Quality Inn Americus. I should not have to walk across the property to my room. There must have been an open room closer. Seriously, the place was empty. 2. I was not able to get into my room and had to run back to the office. The manager also could not get in, but had an electronic device that disabled the lock. I told him not to worry about the keys as I would be up and out in the morning. 3. Upon getting into my room I soon tried to sleep yet was awoken by the guests attempting to access the next room. They too could not get in and the manager again had to be called to use his door opener. (Yeah, it is strange that all those rooms are vacant, everyone had to be in one area.) 4. A hot shower....Nah... here you get a luke warm shower. 5. There was holes in the wall.... No comment... 6. The front door would not fully shut unless I gave it a hard kick. Fellow travelers... cheaper, but so is a roach motel.

While it was conveniently located, the stay was not pleasant. I called 2 times to confirm that a…read morecheckin at 1am would be ok. I was told by an associate at that location it would be both times, both times stated qith no charge. So, upon our arrival, Gaykay started the experience poorly. He was sleeping on the couch when we arrived. Came to the door with no shoes on. He proceeded to tell me there was a $40 charge to start at 1am. His voice matching the associate I spoke with on 2 separate occassions, but because I couldn't prove it was him, I reluctantly paid the additional charge. Upon arriving in the room, it was really gross. The bathroom area was a disaster. It looked like someone was aiming for the walls, if you catch my drift. The toilet had dust and hair all over it. The tub looked like those overexaggerated Bath Fitter commercials, as if it hadn't been scrubbed in years. Even with a request to clean the bathroom, it was still in shambles. I was also told if I was a Choice Rewards member, breakfast would be comped. Gaykay said there would be a charge. At that point I had enough of the extras being tacked on, and asked to speak to the manager. He relented and offered breakfast for the remainder of the stay, because he too, was trying to lie about the number I called being the corporate line. Keep in mind this number was on his business card AND the front of the building, AND much of the literature associated with this location. The staff outside of Gaykay, was exceptional. They are the ones who salvaged some stars. The young lady in the restaurant was extraordinarily accommodating. The young ladies who took over the front desk after Gaykay's shift were marvelous. The cleaning crew that I encountered were sweet and pleasant. Would I stay here again? Only if it was gutted, renovated, and completely fresh. It was clearly a motel in the area that was purchased by the Choice Group, slapped together with some mild upgraded, and rebranded.
