There is also a short dock that you can walk on to look at very pretty sunsets. But other than that, it wasn't anything too cool. I did see one disc golf basket, which would be neat. Probably a great place to stop by with family if you lived near by, but I'm not sure that I would ever go out of my way to come here. And probably not really with a dog. Also, for what it's worth, there were so many bugs?

We love this place! My 4 year old daughter and I have attended a couple "adventure mama" play dates…read moreand always have the best time. The employees are friendly and helpful. Parking can be tight if it's crowded but there's an overfill lot and I believe they may give you a parking pass. There's a small beach and lots of standup paddleboards and kayaks to choose from. The equipment is in good shape and life jackets are available if you don't have your own for the littles. We can't wait to come back soon!

We had never been here too so before we carried our kayaks out we decided to walk the trail without them first to check the path. It is about a half mile or more to the kayak drop-in. It's a nice path and would have been easier to have a kayak dolly. We carried ours and it was quite a workout but a beautiful walk. We saw lots of other walkers and while on the water it was very cool. Lots of oyster beds and birds. We plan to come back very soon when the water is higher! Great park for just a walk too.

It cost 60$ for self serve drinks and food (barely ) served on paper plates. Save your money.

Upon entering the pier shop, one is greeted by a gruff gentleman who has little time for those who do not immediately understand the plethora of rules. We had to deal with his condescending attitude again as we left the pier. When leaving, visitors are to go through a gate that leads to a path around the shop rather than back through the shop. The gate was stuck and could not be opened after numerous tries. We went back through the shop and had to listen to him tell us we had not tried hard enough. The 5th star is withheld due to this gentleman's attitude with the public. The pier is wonderful. It is very well maintained and obviously popular among the local fishermen and fisherwomen. There were many stations to cut, filet and clean one's catch. A plethora of benches line the pier for seating. A ruler is present at the end of the pier to measure fish, and QR codes are posted to order lunch from the attached restaurant. A large observation tower sits at the end of the pier. The pier rules are posted in plain view and there is even a fire extinguisher should a need arise! We really enjoyed seeing what the fishermen and women were catching and all of them were very friendly and willing to share their knowledge. I would definitely recommend taking a walk on the pier when in the area.

It consists of a small parking lot, a green hill, a couple benches with close up views of the Cape Fear River. Lately I've been exploring our local parks a lot more and I'm insanely impressed with the NHC Parks & Rec, after what I've found. Dram Tree, though, I wouldn't really consider a "park," but rather a picnic spot and/or photo backdrop. It's cute and I'm glad I visited, but won't really be hanging out here or recommending to anyone other than tourists looking for a unique date spot.

There's a Mellow Mushroom…read morepizza joint within a 5-minute walk, and there was supposedly a pub/bar in the opposite direction. Unless there was a magnificent collection of businesses towards the putative pub/bar, there isn't much within "walking distance," unless your idea of "walking distance" involves radical, sweeping arcs of the minute hand on your chronometer. The folks out at the fuel dock were great. We got a facedock actually *at* the fuel pump, which made it egregiously simple to tie up, fuel up, and water up. The shower was the exterior bathroom at the fuelhouse building. That's not bad, but there was no way to lock out other people while you were in there trying to get cleaned up. You could take a shower in a small cubicle, but other people could still enter and use the commode and sink. That was the pinnacle of suckage. It's close to the Ditch and near the first blue water access point to blue water from where we began. Beers were $20 per 18-pack in the store. It was good enough, but there was nothing remarkable about it.
