We chose the private family tour and booking was quick and easy and the customer service as great as I remembered. On to the tour itself: Luke met us at the Museum of Natural History on time and we got reacquainted. My son is autistic and can have some trouble warming to new people but absolutely no the case with Luke, he immediately put my son at ease and they were chatting like old friends as we made our way into Central Park. The tour covered loads of Central Park, including an exciting off track visit to a secret cave, the plaza hotel, grand central station, some fun subway rides, and concluded at the Brooklyn Bridge. But more than just seeing so many iconic sites, Luke had hundreds of facts and stories (which my son loved) about what we were seeing. It was truly like spending a wonderful day with an old friend. When I found out this place is only catacombs in NYC, I decided to book a tour. I learn so much of history of St. Patrick church that this church is the original before they built St. Patrick 's Cathedral on 5th Ave. I was amazing knowing the history of catholic in New York and mystery behind. The underground was great, some people might say it was short time but maybe because I took a tour at the last round so I feel I spend amount of time down there with no rush. Even it only one level underground but the tomb is deeper than that but with the security and lots of reason they completely seal the tomb so no air in and out of the tomb and no one tough inside for centuries.

This weekend I went on the Multi-Ethnic Eating Tour and it was exceptional. I forget the name of our guide (he was a PhD student and professor) but he was packed full of info, very comfortable presenting it, and all around a top notch guide. Two hours of lots of food and a moderate amount of walking. Fantastic way to spend an afternoon, highly recommended, and now I have to go on more of their walks.

It is focused on the history of the tenants in this…read morearea over time. it is not the typical museum where you see fixed exhibits, but rather pick a tour and then visit a particularly tenement based on the tour you selected. We went on a tour called "family-owned." The tours seem to fill up quickly on weekends, so it is a good idea to reserve in advance. You meet in the main building and then form into your tour group. You get a quick briefing at the start, then go into one of the tenements. This tour started in one that was a saloon in the front and then an apartment in the past (with families from Prussia and Bavaria). The tour guide was excellent and the history was really interesting. I will likely go back again for a different tour--definitely worth a visit.

My tour featured the stories and living spaces of a Jewish family with a mother and father who survived the holocaust and a Puerto Rican family that moved into the neighborhood at a later point in time. Our tour guide, Silas, was a great storyteller and brought the lives of the two families to life through vivid descriptions of their everyday life, details on the evolution of the neighborhood, and context on the larger story of immigration to the U.S. Along with just being in the real living spaces of the families-- reconstructed to the best of the museum's abilities-- the vivid, minute details in the storytelling made the experience feel very intimate in a way that you don't get from a traditional history museum. It was also cool to hear the efforts the museum made to make sure the living members of the two families maintained ownership of their stories. The nice thing about the museum is that there is always more to come back to experience since there are numerous tours to sign up for, each focusing on different families or aspects of tenement life. The tour was only an hour, though, which is much less time than most people would typically spend at a museum. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Sent a message to see what was recommended as far as the availability of a wait list or moving tickets from walking to bus tour would be easy. Scott himself responded, almost immediately with his recommendations. Purchased the walking tour tickets, put ourselves on the wait list for the bus tour and watched emails like a hawk for the few days before our scheduled date. The pizza tour Gods smiled on us and the wait list opened up. I called to get our tickets moved and talked to Scott who handled the whole transfer quickly for me because once the wait list opens up it opens up for everyone on it. He was very helpful in scoring those seats for us and understood the urgency. LOL. That's ALL before we even got to our first meeting place. We met the tour and Scott at Keste in the Financial District. I had read in my research that the tour stops aren't planned ahead and I was skeptical, but you could see him figuring it out as he figured out his group for the day. One of the attendees had taken the tour a year prior, they played a game of guess the spot so he didn't repeat stops for her and the very large group of family that she brought with her on this tour. There was one request for a spot in Brooklyn but he couldn't make it happen due to their hours, not that he wouldn't have moved heaven and earth if he could have. We had a smaller than usual tour group because of timing and a LI RR strike and you could just see that this opened up other options for places to go. After Keste we were able to do two stops in the Bronx, one in East Harlem. There was even an ice cream, water ice store next door to the last pizzeria. So much thought went into this route. Scott was able to take this group to places he hadn't been to in quite some time due to the distance and size of the group. Back to Keste-- what tour guide takes his entire group and takes over the kitchen, helping himself to dough balls and creating pies as he discussed pizza history?? We saw the kitchen and oven in each establishment and each shop was welcoming and friendly. Scott is a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed sharing his story and the story of all of the stops we visited. Pizza is an absolute passion project for him. Highly recommend!
