This pub seemed to be pretty popular, but then again it was a Friday night when I ended up here, so…read morethat probably had a lot to do with it, and it also happened to be the case that it was around dinner time as well, so I guess that also counts for something. Honestly, I really wasn't all that impressed with this place. It seemed, well, somewhat boring. Sure, it might be a good pub if you happen to live in the town, but honestly, there are better options that happen to be available.

However, the staff did turn out to be quite helpful, not only calling a cab for me, but also calling one again when we got our wires crossed (yeah, they don't come into the pub in the country, they expect you to be waiting outside). Anyway, this pub wasn't all that bad, it was relaxing, and somewhat charming.

Still, it was a nice pub with a nice bistro and a decent outdoor area, even though the outdoor areas in the country pubs tend to be set aside purely for the smokers. The service was reasonably quite as well, though it did turn out that the beer selection wasn't all that great, but once again that is to be expected with country pubs.

Don't be put off by the…read moredaggy exterior - 1970s motel architecture - the rooms are very clean and look recently refurbished in a modern style. Decent restaurant too, but close enough to the centre of town if you want other dining options.
