This place is huge. It reminds me of the St Lawrence market in Toronto (not quite as big). There are a lot of vendors where you can eat as well as vendors for take-home goods. There is a parking garage across the street where you can get 1 hour of free parking if you get a vendor to validate your ticket.

This farmer's market is huge, located in downtown Hamilton. There are 2 levels and is nicely decorated. There are so many vendors. The whole place is welcoming. They are only open Tue, Thu, Fri, Sun. I think this place is better than the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto. For example, the food vendors are more like restaurants and have seats for their customers. I might do separate reviews for a few vendors.

You can find a wide variety of eats, treats, and meats from artisan producers that line every nook and cranny of this place. You can always seem to discover something new to feed your foodie soul. It's a bright clean space that has artisan producers of all things sprinkled everywhere. We were able to find street parking nearby and only realized after-the-fact that the nearby parking lot adjacent to the Farmers Market offers free parking for the first hour. We ended up dining at Pokeh and also tried some samosas at the Indian booth on the main level. There was so many more we wanted to try but not enough stomach. This is a great spot and will love to come back when we are in the Hammer again.

NAM NOM BANH MI

Were tired of going to st Lawrence market, so headed the other direction for the HFM. For our first trip, were unsure what to expect. Was smaller than expected but absolutely packed with delicious food options and produce. Our first stop was a large baked good stall on the lower level. Purchased brownie, Nanaimo bar, date square and some cookies. The date square was delicious! Then I grabbed the pork belly banh mi at Nam Nom in the food court. Omg the best thing I ate all day! Also picked up a big steak, pepperettes and British pies. On the way out, be sure to stop by Sensational Samosa! I was hesitant to spend 6 bucks on a butter chicken samosa, but oh man was it delicious! Worth It, give it a try. Beyond that, just amazingly warm customer service at this booth. We are definitely returning for a fistful of banh mis.

I was once a regular at the old Hamilton Farmers Market so I had to check out the Market after it's $16 million dollar renovation (that figure includes work on the Hamilton Public Library as well). Visually, there hasn't been a drastic change. It still has a similar look and very familiar feel to the old Market. The one glaring difference to each stall is a fixture that was installed which holds each vendors sign. This change certainly closes off the view from one side of the market to the other (almost makes the market feel smaller) and takes away a bit of the rustic feel that the market once had, but does allow customers to easily identify who each vendor is. One point of contention is the fact that the market is closed on Monday's and Wednesday's. For a downtown core that has been hard hit economically over the past decade, one would think that the market would want to capitalize on the business it can generate between Monday and Friday. Many business professionals frequent the market for lunch, so I found it shocking that the market is only open three-fifths of the week (Tuesday, Thursday & Friday). In my opinion, I didn't think the market could afford to be closed during the week and at a time when so many professionals and potential customers are in close proximity, but I suppose only time will tell whether the hours remain the same moving forward. If you are looking for good quality meat and cheese, be sure to check out Sam's Cheese & Meats. They have been a staple at the market for many years and offer great quality items at some of the best prices in town. You can easily find cheese at Sam's that is half the price of what you'll find at the Cheese Shoppe on Locke Street. With their great service, jovial attitudes, and passion for their food, it will come as no surprise that Sam's Cheese & Meats is one of the busiest vendors in the Market! What does everyone else think of the newly renovated Hamilton Farmers Market?

giant peaches that were soo sweet and juicy

Amazing! I stumbled upon the market by accident because I was in the search for a certain cupcake shop. It might be because I rarely go to farmer's markets so I don't have high expectations but seriously I really liked this place! There was soooo much fresh produce. I got some giant peaches, ears of corn, super sweet oranges, and of course cupcakes. The outside is super sleek and snazzy looking, the inside didn't really have a market feel (all the walls are white and just.. normal..) but i really appreciated the fact that it was clean and it did not smell. I had a really fun time roaming the market and I can't wait to go back!

Very cool Farmers Market. Down to earth attitude. Great prices! Worth it to go check this place out. Make sure to grab a coffee from Julia (she's in one of the corners). Delicious!! Good selection of meat, cheeses, and produce. Thumbs up Hamilton Market!!!

I had parked across from East Lynn Park to attend a couple of businesses as part of a work event. When we walked from an escape room to a cafe, we walked past the park and I noticed tents being set up. This activity was taking place at around 2:30 pm. My colleagues and I had spent nearly 2.5 hours at this cafe. When we all disbanded, I headed back to my car and cut through this park. I found out that it has a farmers' market every Thursday from 3 - 7 pm. I was extremely happy! I got momos from Napalese Momo. Staff had already made them in advance and simply needed to steam them. I was advised that it would take four minutes. I got a mixed assortment of momos and they were delicious. The hot sauce is like a four-alarm fire in your mouth. You have been warned! Jiggy Popz is there every other week. I managed to get handcrafted popsicles made with natural ingredients. I had the sweet cherry immediately and it was divine. The man who makes them with his partner said that it is work to take the stems and pits out, before pureeing them. I can imagine, which is why it was my first choice. I also had Jann Arden's song, Cherry Popsicle, in my head as I enjoyed this popsicle in my car. I polished off my last one, the pineapple. They make yummy popsicles. I noticed that Stock and Trade was next to Napalese Momo. I picked up the best chicken stock from this store a few months ago. It was offering some yummy sandwiches. It's is a local butcher shop, but it makes fantastic sandwiches. I wanted one, but the momos had won me over. Next time! I love an unexpected find. I definitely want to check out the rest of the vendors next time. I look forward to returning on Thursdays specifically for the farmers' market. (301)

This year the vendors are all down at the bottom of the hill - completely invisible from the danforth. In the old location there was plenty of space so you could quickly peruse the goods, make some purchases and hop back on the bike. Now you've got to walk a gantlet that is chalk-a-block with people who want to give you balloon animals, etc. I think it's great that the market is a community hub, but if it's not going to be first and foremost a market, it's not going to attract farmers. Why is DECA (a very worthy community group) occupying the stall nearest to the danforth while the only vendor who is selling actual produce has the very last stall at the far end of the park? I hope this market will return to its former glory.
