Typical Los Angeleno style Hamburger dive. This particular one is family owned by a nice man, and his kids are cute also. They do have wifi and let us use their wifi for awhile without throwing us out which is nice. I give it five stars because the service is far above average for the location. Most owners of places with this kind of food (got to have it if you love LA hamburgers and peanut oil fries which you cannot get a LA style hamburger and fries or breakfast plate anywhere but LA) are picky, rude, and rush you out the door even if you drop them extra cash. But this place has a nice owner so we came back multiple times weekly. They also have OC and LA weekly if you're into that rag and its corrupt partners who exploit people.. But hey if you need a dispensary ad there's still no alternative yet.. Maybe Amass will help that issue or someone will compete with shop ads. They also have a bathroom for customers, also rare in this area. The owner works there all day every day most times and the cook is solid. read more

The food was pretty good - nothing to write home about but it hit the spot for breakfast on a Sunday with a busy day of studying for finals ahead of me. The hashbrowns were great, nice and crispy but not overcooked. The problem was that we waited over 30 minutes for our food (about 35 to be exact). We got breakfast food (I got the bacon & avocado omelette and my boyfriend got the breakfast plate), so it's not like we ordered huge burgers or steak or something. They didn't even give us our drinks the entire time we were waiting for our food, which is unacceptable to me if it's going to take over half an hour. The worst part was that we saw people who had ordered after us taking their huge to-go orders out the door at least 15 minutes before we got our food. Apparently if you are a regular there you will get your food first and new customers just have to wait. Call me crazy, but I'm not going to become a repeat customer if my first visit doesn't go well. My boyfriend nicely advised them that we had been waiting for 30 minutes and asked if our food was almost ready. The guy who took our order said it was Sunday and we shouldn't get angry. We weren't angry, just wondering where our food is? Then he proceeds to tell us that it is God's Day and it would take longer and he knew those people that's why they got served first. I understand that Sunday is usually the day a lot of people in Long Beach go out for breakfast, and I'm prepared to wait, but 30 minutes for this food was wayyy too long, plus there were only 5 other people in the whole place, and you didn't have a line, so you're not *that* busy. I don't appreciate being treated with less respect and being told that I should wait because you know the other customers. There are too many places in LB that serve this same type of food that give better service, so I will not be back. Sorry. Next time don't try to blame your customers because you can't get food out on time and maybe you'll get more business. read more

Today 9-2-17 I decided to check it out and it had a major upgrade with nice tables and chairs and it looked more modern. What's the point of upgrading the restaurant if the customer service was horrible. Took 40mins to receive my order. Which was a cheeseburger combo. The workers seemed lost and out of order. Honestly I should of drove 5mins down to 5th and Atlantic and grab a Burger from Louis burgers "which are awesome" I haven't been to hamburger dans in over 13 years when I was a middle school student . I've lived next to Dan's burger since it was Hamburger Dans! Let's just say I've been to this place only because someone else I know chose to go. The decor is extremely outdated. The customers are either ghetto as hell or young and annoying. This is not my top pick or even in my top 5 for a greasy burger and/or fast food. You're better off going to Louis Burger on 6th and Atlantic. Yeah, you have to pay more, but the food and service is well worth it. Dan's has been around since before I was born, which was a long, long time ago! It's your classic old fashioned burger place. Regarding the food,- I prefer this to the chain of fast food places. My fave is the cheeseburger, fries, and drink combo, which comes to about $5.50. They have a variety on the menu, but I go there for my comfort food. If you want a pretty, modern looking place to have lunch,- this isn't it! But you'll get a good hamburger at a great price! read more

I ordered for the first time from here today. I ordered through Postmates. I do have to admit that I came to Yelp before ordering to read reviews first though since this was a new place for me. I ordered the Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger with a side of fries (size small) and a side of ranch dressing. The burger and fries were VERY GOOD and especially for the price! Places like Islands and Red Robin, etc. are good too however, they charge $13 plus for their burgers and they aren't as good as the burgers from here to be honest. Also I was impressed with the French fries! I ordered a small size like I mentioned and I wasn't even able to finish them. What a great value for I think they were $2.75? They were also on the thicker side and tasted hot and fresh! I definitely recommend ordering from here if you are in the mood for a good burger and fries! Their ranch dressing was good too! First time trying Hamburger Dan's, since it's very close to my apartment. Ordered two veggie burger combos with cheese on white bun to go. Received two hard hockey pucks, on a hard wheat bun with almost no sauce and cucumbers (not pickles) on the burger. Did get a bonus bag of onion rings, but were inedible, tasting like they were cooked in old, burnt oil. Even the sodas were flat, with no flavoring. Only thing salvageable was the french fries. This place is just a "burger joint," so that's how I'm rating it. It isn't the place to go if you want some kind of fancy burger on a specialty bun. It's just a burger joint. But as burger joints go, this one is among the top that I've been to (and there are MANY in Long Beach. My double bacon cheeseburger was excellent by burger joint standards: cooked fresh, perfectly toasted bun, the right proportions of everything, and VERY flavorful and thick bacon (unlike the scrawny & tasteless stuff you get most places these days). I really enjoyed this burger. The fries were great, too. Again, they are the standard burger joint kind of fries, but these were cooked and seasoned perfectly... freshly made, hot, a bit of crunch on the outside, and soft on the inside. The place is more than reasonably clean. Service was friendly. The food got to me in a reasonable amount of time. Another reviewer mentioned the other customers. I have to say that if you have issues with the clientele at this place (just regular people who live or work in the area), then you might as well avoid most of Long Beach (or any other urban area, for that matter).
